  • Is the Hallberg Rassy 57 the start of a marked change for one of the world's best known and most respected brands? Matt Sheahan went to take a close-up look at this 57 footer to find out whether a launch that slipped under the radar, side stepping the spotlights just ahead of the global pandamic, was really a change of tack for this famous Swedish yard.

    I will never understand why I sit through the entirety of a video showcasing a boat that I will never be able to afford. But it sure is a beauty.

    Very lovely boat and a very enjoyable interview. Marries up the benefits of modern features with long standing ocean cruising requirements very successfully.

    I wonder if the nice people at Hallberg would do a staight swap for a Contessa 26? Unknown number of previous owners, it has to be that or the lottery, fingers crossed. My dream yacht for many reasons.

    A boat to dream about that very few can afford. Those who can will be looked after, and it will keep its value since demand is high. The price is high due to man hours. Same with the Oysters.

    Quick question, what’s the difference between say a beneteau and a blue water cruiser?

    • @MmIlahg
      @MmIlahg Před měsícem

      This boat isn't really a blue water sailboat. Rassy used to be but they went with a bolt on keel and twin rudders. That's what makes a blue water sailboat, being bomb proof with lots of capacity. Rassy is not blue water anymore.

      It's made for bluewater crossing in North Sea, North Atlantic with cold and rough conditions, you don't want to stand or sit close to the edges in thoose conditions, if you sailing in the mediterranean sea or in Caribian waters that may not be the same need of a protected area to have them positioned more centered.
