  • The Philippines has traditionally been seen as a gateway to Southeast Asia and a strong ally of the United States in the Pacific. The country’s natural beauty and endowment have attracted many to its shores but have brought opportunities and challenges to the nation as well.
Learn more about its continued march toward economic development and as an archipelagic nation in a sea of warring interests, as we engage Philippine Consul General in San Francisco Neil Ferrer in a discussion this April.
Afterward, join us for a taste of Philippine cuisine and a glimpse of the famous night markets with vendors displaying fares ranging from chocolates to coffee. Free giveaways from the Philippine Department of Tourism-San Francisco are also in store for lucky attendees.

Philippines should focus more on better relations with its neighboring countries. The US nowadays just look for proxies and drag neutral countries into endless wars. Emphasis should be more on diplomatic relations, not confrontations that lead to mass destructions. These anti-China rhetoric being spread around the world especially in the US is nonsensical. Americans think just because they're far from battle areas they're safe economically. Many major trade routes are in the Pacific. I can't imagine economic collapse not happening everywhere if war breaks out in the region. We saw it during the pandemic where people scrambled for food, medicine, necessities, etc.
