Especially when they did the DC comics repaints with Diesel 10 as the Joker. Wouldn’t the old model Diesel 10 face fit better to with the Joker repaint?
"He'll always rank 10/10 for devious deeds and brutal strength, and be the blast from the past that hates steam engines" That last sentence almost had me in tears 😤💯
I always saw 10 as freaking hilarious as a kid in the movie. Maybe it was because of his voice actor who sounds like he improved everything like a champ and was having a blast doing so.
To me, Diesel 10 was always one of those characters that had much potential, yet limited potential, in terms of what could be done with him in television series. Though, what they could do with him worked very well, for where they were trying to go.
Well, Diesel 10 has the potential to be more evil and malicious in the television series and Andrew Brenner should have restored him to his full villainy after Season 17 if Mattel haven't deemed him too scary for the audience in the first place.
@@jadeimusprime2158 If the show remains aimed at kids of all ages, then Diesel 10 would remain appearing and evil. My biggest complaint with CGI Diesel 10 is his new voice. A lot of the characters voices got nerfed, but Diesel 10's new voice is terribly high pitched and sounds way too soft. If anything, his original voice is the best, as it was both scary and funny.
In the Mexican dub of Day of the Diesels, he was also high pitched, but in the Christmas decorations episode's dub (his last appearence to date), he came back to the low pitched voice, courtesy of Gerardo Reyero.
SilverBand7 on CZcams did a great job voicing Diesel 10 in Sudrian Stories since it's based off Keith Scott which is the perfect medium between the brutish, aggressive Neil Crone version of the voice and the more sophisticated, articulate Matt Wilkinson version of the voice.
Interesting man I never once thought of this. I always thought Diesel 10 wanted to pretend he was Percy's friend but I never once knew he wanted to manipulate him in order to get Thomas and in order to scrap him ya know. I think that's interesting you thought of him like that man spot on. I think Day of the Diesels, as well as Adventure Begins, Hero of the Rails, and Misty Island Rescue are the best CGI Thomas movies ever!! Not as great as the classic models movies of course (like both Magic Railroad and Great Discovery), but they're still nice to watch from time to time.
Diesel 10 actually appeared in The Great Discovery although he doesn't speak, he's just in the background, which means he appears in all 3 model movies
I was never scared of D10, but I get why he might've been spooky to some kids. Still, I mean...he's got a new jersey accent. Also, D10 was the only good thing about COE. He was legit spooky in that, but he fits on the railroad. Also, if CGI Diesel 10 and CGI Diesel were to switch personalities, it'd make way more sense.
For me, I like original Diesel 10 for the same reasons I like Ripto in Spyro 2. An angry and brutish villain who's temper would sometimes get the best of them, while still posing a genuine threat. They each had their moments of hilarity but proved dangerous, because of _and_ in spite of their personality flaws.
See the thing is Diesel 10 had to change his character for his plan to work. When trying to get Percy on their side, if he was the same homicidal maniac, it wouldn’t work coz Percy wouldn’t do it which is why we see him almost snap a couple of times.
@@DavidBContentExtravaganza3967 he has changed because, as cool as his calmer persona is, it’s ruined when fatty comes in & Diesel’s backing off & wimpering
@@ScrapyardStudios No, Diesel 10's homicidal maniac behavior never changes with his evilness remained in CGI. Just under wraps for now. I agree with you on Diesel 10 whimpering when The Fat Controller arrived since I believe that he doesn't care about his authority and can do his evil plans of taking over Sodor regardless.
I was an easily-scared kid, and I was the right age and demographic for Magic Railroad when it came out. In fact, it literally came out on my 6th birthday. I didn't find Diesel 10 scary either. Here’s things I find that ruined Diesel 10, having him as a good guy in CAE, being a big baby in the Christmas episode and in DOTD, also Pinchy is not even called Pinchy anymore, that’s saying oh there is Jerry and his huge big body guard that we forgot what his name was, and I’m disappointed that instead of using Splodge, he used Paxton, I mean 2 class 08s are better than 1, sure they turned on him but in the directors cut, George turns on them and trapping them using a boulder, also it just sucks how he made a cameo appearance in TGR and in that one BWBA episode (ok maybe not him but Pinchy appeared) overall I like CGI D10 but I like model version more
Honestly the only thing that made me upset with cgi diesel 10 was after all the manipulation of Percy and acting like a mob boss. He just spids around a turntable I was expecting him to trash the steam works a little similar to how he smashed the scaffolding wall at tidmouth sheds in MR but no he just spins on a turntable what a letdown even if it was a little bit a little goes a long way. Also personal preference wished he called him Fat hat at least once didn't have to be at him could be under the breath just having it said would have been nice other than the end I think he was handled well.
I think I agree with you, The Unlucky Tug, The Sudrian, and Narrow Gauge (yes that's an actual channel name). The changes made to his CGI character and his very very brief HiT model era were understandable. Not the best "hooray hooray oh joyous-ray" changes, but slightly understandable. Due to the differences in tones between Gulleen and HiT regarding the ownership of Thomas (one willing to take chances by making content an entire family could enjoy [I.E. Season 5 and Magic Railroad vs Calling All Engines], HiT had the plan "no more of that horrible scary content because that'll cause controversy from parents against us. Let's make everyone act as a childish, idiotic, boring reckless imbecile, completely disregarded their previous personalities because we don't give a shit (I.E. Skarloey and Rheneas)." Because of this, originally slightly scary, manipulative yet comical characters like Diesel 10, the Killdane Ironworks Twins Arry and Bert and Devious Diesel became childish yet light-hearted bullies. However, as already stated in this, I slightly understand the change. Diesel 10 was only changed from Britt's original version by HiT to prevent themselves from receiving very angry letters from parents with children who watch the show. After all, P.T Boomer was removed from the original Director's Cut of TATMR after baby test audiences claimed to be "too scary" for children. Oh sure, Doug Lennox was too scary, but a big BR 42 Warship with a big hydraulic scrap picking up claw wasn't scary? People are messed up when things are scary. Clowns are scary, Slenderman is scary, Diesel 10 is hilariously comedic in TATMR, P.T Boomer was a bit boring. Come on idiots, wake up. This personally was carried on all the way until Day of The Diesels, and while yes, he did become a childish coward at the very very end, he was manipulative and secretive, using Percy as a pawn to have his plan come to fruition. Ok, that's enough ranting
Manipulative and secretive is perfect for Diesel 10, I like that. They should have returned the originally slightly scary, manipulative yet comical bit in the CGI Brenner era for Diesel, Diesel 10, 'Arry and Bert and make things less light hearted, especially to have Diesel not care about things when found out and glad to make everyone's lives miserable and removing oversimplified and nice guy approach since it doesn't suit them. That would have be perfect. Never mind about parents since people has to get scared sometimes and villains are meant to be scary.
If they had brought the original voice actor in the cgi series with the same personality and design and the way the claw teeth do go pass each other unlike the magic railroad then that would be was awesome to his original face in CGI
Did you know that in the directors cut of tatmr there was going to be a scene in which after diesel 10 and pt boomer are in the barge percy pulls up to the viaduct with Mr C and Junior and Junior uses his magic bandana to cover Diesel 10 and Pt boomer and sludge and it is very disturbing
My head cannon for my thomas universe is that the magic railroad is cannon but i erase the magic element and mr conducter just travel by train and lady is just an very old engine that thomas just want to protect and diesel 10 want to destroyed because she is an escapey like oliver
13:22 That's the beauty of animation, you can get away with making characters with exaggerated expressions. How is this any different with Dragon Ball Z or hell any animations that exaggerate their faces/movements? You're essentially taking away the soul of the character and leave it with a bland face because it's not "natutal." This the same mindset people had when making the Lion King remake.
Test audience: let’s put a br class 42 warship diesel with a non hydraulic claw instead of an old man because people aren’t afraid of trains OutSide of Tatmr: Diesel 10 and his scary claw BWBA: Oh you guys let’s have this maniacs claw return for some steam engine that wants to be powerful Christmas Special: Paxton, come with me CAE: officially loses his evil role TGD: did nothing but be a bg character MIR: nothing wrong here These are just flaws I found throughout every D10 appearance
Day of the diesels movie got me inspired as a kid that I made my own diesel works out of color papers for my take-alongs. It was cool but sadly I don't have it anymore.
They probably didn’t want to show an engine actually hurt a person since they are supposed to have drivers which means someone could be making his claw grab someone (like Sir Toppham)
what l was 6 when l watched Thomas and the Magic Railroad... l found diesel 10 fascinating and because l was a kid l went out with my mum and dad and brought every diesel 10 train l could get l didn't find him scary he was one of them trains that wasn't in any episodes when I was a kid watching Thomas.. so l found him special and very unique because of that big arse crane arm claw that he had🥴🤣
Lol after the coal falls on him he said “now thats gonna ruin my face shield” XD like serously they probably spent awhile cleaning that one, and Diesel 10 is self aware hes a model lol. It sucks we only see Diesel 10 4 times he was the best character
I've always thought that scene where Sir Topham tells off Diesel 10 actually makes sense realistically. In a world where sentient trains exist, there must be a system that prevents violent homicidal engines from fatally injuring people. If Diesel 10 actually tried to use Pinchy to attack him, there would definitely be dire consequences (most likely the threat of being scrapped). In Day of the Diesel, Diesel 10 was essentially trying to showcase how Diesels are not always given the same level of treatment as the Steamies (hence the state of the Dieselworks). Yet he's not above using underhanded tactics to pull this off, ie. manipulating an emotionally vulnerable Percy and his power trip insisting that he won't give the Steamworks back. Overall, I think this was a good direction to take Diesel 10 in as it rounds him out as a character better than tatmr.
Well, Diesel 10 would still rebel against Sir Topham's control since he wants to take over Sodor himself, do whatever he wants regardless and he's perfect being violent, homicidal and evil in the show. Sharon Miller's bad writing just ruins it.
@@DavidBContentExtravaganza3967 That's a good point. Although I think the motivation of taking over Sodor applies more to TATMR's version of D10 rather than the current CGI's version. I do enjoy the homicidal, evil Diesel 10. But I also feel that it makes him a bit simplistic and there's some untapped potential in showing more complex Diesel characters in the show.
@@alisonwallace5619 Diesel 10's evilness is fine as it is and the only untapped potential is more evil aspects added. Andrew Brenner and Micheal White should have Diesel 10's original villainy returned in CGI if Mattel haven't deemed him too scary to appear more in the show again and keep it aimed at kids of all ages and not younger ones. You're essentially taking away the soul of the character and leave it with a bland face because it's not "natutal." This the same mindset people had when making the Lion King remake.
Test audience: let’s put a br class 42 warship diesel with a non hydraulic claw instead of an old man because people aren’t afraid of trains
OutSide of Tatmr: Diesel 10 and his scary claw
BWBA: Oh you guys let’s have this maniacs claw return for some steam engine that wants to be powerful
Christmas Special: Paxton, come with me
CAE: officially loses his evil role
TGD: did nothing but be a bg character
MIR: nothing wrong here
These are just flaws I found throughout every D10 appearance
10:12 Am I the only one that heard the Splodge theme there?
True
Day of the diesels movie got me inspired as a kid that I made my own diesel works out of color papers for my take-alongs. It was cool but sadly I don't have it anymore.
when i was 2 i loved diesel 10 but also had nightmares that he was chasing me down but still love his character
6:04 not trying to be rude but d10 does make another model series cameo in the great discovery
Yeah, the toys honestly should have kept the classic series faces. The CGI faces honestly just feel odd on the toys.
Well for plarail it works
One thing that makes me question, is Diesel 10 still going to be afraid of Sugar??
he scared me when i was younger not anymore
when i was a kid i used to be scared of the part when diesel 10 comes to tidmouth sheds and also his scared face
11:02 the best part
It's not Season 25 it's a reboot.
You had to put Willy Wonka in 😡
GUUD GUUD OWSEEM
"Nobody is a villain in their own story. We're all the heroes of our own stories." - George R. R. Martin
That guy should know that villains are great part of stories and films, even their own and respect it.
They probably didn’t want to show an engine actually hurt a person since they are supposed to have drivers which means someone could be making his claw grab someone (like Sir Toppham)
I honestly think the TCC handled D10 the best!
Not with keeping him a evil villain like in most fanmade Thomas media.
Thomas and the Tragic failroad
What's the music at 4:35?
what l was 6 when l watched Thomas and the Magic Railroad... l found diesel 10 fascinating and because l was a kid l went out with my mum and dad and brought every diesel 10 train l could get l didn't find him scary he was one of them trains that wasn't in any episodes when I was a kid watching Thomas.. so l found him special and very unique because of that big arse crane arm claw that he had🥴🤣
Lol after the coal falls on him he said “now thats gonna ruin my face shield” XD like serously they probably spent awhile cleaning that one, and Diesel 10 is self aware hes a model lol.
It sucks we only see Diesel 10 4 times he was the best character
Ratio
The real question is, who tf is his driver, and why are they going along with this?
Maybe he is an experimental engine who doesn't need a driver or Boomer is his driver in the TV Series canon.
@@ThomasSirHandel that would be really cool tbh
PT Boomer is his driver!
More like Diesel 10 was using Percy as his little minion
Defently i think nwr1991 Is post tatmr Diesel 10 done right in my opinión
The motivation of taking over Sodor can apply to Diesel 10 in CGI as well as the model version since both versions are the same character and I would like to see it in CGI anyway. I hope you understand what I'm getting at.
I like both diesel. Only wrost the cgi then other movie is the voice. But hate splat and dodge, make him a wimp. And his friend in cgi make him wimp again, he needs better friends
I like original desil 10 and cgi desil 10
He made a cameo in the great discovery though
And appeared on Misty island
11:36 if that’s the case then why is lady in calling all engines
She’s a figment of Thomas’s imagination and only in a dream. TMR isn’t canon
In conclusion Duck, There's one hidden fact that nobody other than me ever knew about Diesel 10, Diesel 10 secretly dropped and replaced Class 40 in Thomas and the magic railroad, you May not believe it, but it's actually true, and the hidden Truth about Diesel 10 (Wich technically means Class 40 was originally going to appear in Thomas and the magic railroad, but unfortunately he was dropped and replaced by Diesel 10), Who believes the hidden Truth anyone?
There's no proof of your claims. Nothing about Class 40 on wikis.
@@DavidBContentExtravaganza3967 what are you talking about?

@@serenarenfro2668theres is not mention of class 40 that was going to replace Diesel 10 in tatmr
11:02
I personally prefer his Brooklyn accent and his dialect from the film . Not his attitude, just how he talked.
Does the cameo in the Great Discovery count
ah, 609 likes, *nice*
Well, there is the upcoming 2022 movie
