Hello, to anyone who can help. I have a TP-LINK WN823N adapter. It is not plug and play. I am having trouble with the drivers. I have downloaded them for the right version of my adapter. But I am having trouble unpacking them. Yes ZIP is easy to unpack. But after that the instructions provided are very weird. There must be a quicker way surely. I am doing updates through the cmd line for the WiFi stuff. Is there any other commands that can help get the thing to work? Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
In case you still haven't figured it out. sudo wget www.fars-robotics.net/install-wifi -O /usr/bin/install-wifi sudo chmod +x /usr/bin/install-wifi sudo install-wifi -h sudo install-wifi -c rpi-update
scroll to 1:45 first. Then be really mad when you find out your PI does not recognise your wifi dongle! I have a Vilros wifi dongle 802.11n and i do not get any networks appearing. Total nightmare, been at this for past 8 hrs looking at videos and reading stuff. Still no closer.
netrix64 as with most tray notifications, if you right click on the network connection icon it gives you a drop down list with more options including the chance to type in a hidden network etc
Oh my god, are you really teaching us how to connect a device to WiFi threw a graphical interface ??? Come on ! If somebody buys a raspberry, I think he might already have connected his PC to wifi before... o_O
You'd be surprised about the number of people who simply miss the small WiFi icon. Also, at the time of making, the WiFi setup process had just changed from a complicated terminal process to this little icon - and this was to just explain that. Why don't you not be so judgemental of other people's abilities/knowledge? There are people who encounter hurdles with this sort of thing.
