- In this video, I discuss the pros and cons of retiring to East TN. I then dive into 3 towns that you may want to consider. I discuss medical options, community, pricing and inventory, and things to do in each town. The towns highlighted in this episode are Townsend, Tellico Village, and Seymour. Since shooting and editing this video I have decided to make this a series so that I can share other good options as well.

Please remember.....If you are planning on moving to Tennessee..... especially East Tennessee...we are friendly, outgoing nice people. But please if you're moving from a woke blue state... leave your wokeness behind because we won't appreciate it and we don't want it for our State.
🙌🏼
We arrived in Johnson City last year after spending too much of our lives in Connectishit.
Don't worry about us bringing left wing values to Tennessee. We escaped that and are very happy with the local culture just as it is. We were just born in the wrong place.
Oh, you mean things like fairness to all and religious tolerance of others who don’t embrace the “evangelical” beliefs? Yeah that crazy “woke” stuff is so bad, wouldn’t want that now 🤨 ☮️✡️☪️🔯🕎☦️
@@dronedude5150 I'm agnostic. Not that anyone's religious beliefs are any of your business.
The people here are the friendliest and most polite that I've ever met. It's routine for strangers to hold a door for you, and are unbelievably helpful. Quite different from the liberal state I left where everyone by comparison has a chip on their shoulder, and negative thinking is the norm.
@@dronedude5150 😂 you wish .. woke is a cancer
I moved here in 2005 after retiring. So much cheaper than upstate New York. Great weather year round.
We really appreciate your dedicated help and informative details of Eastern Tennessee. Thank you for your valuable time and attention to detail. We're grateful to be subscribed!
Thank you! I put a lot of work into these videos for everyone. If you ever need help buying or selling in the area then keep me in mind 😁
This is a very helpful video thank you!
Great video and information! Thank you!
Enjoy your videos. We just bought a house in New Tazewell near Norris Lake. Can't wait to retire there.
Thanks so much for posting yet another excellent video of Eastern TN. I'm hoping to retire there and your wildcard pick of Seymour is very appealing. Cheers!
Thanks for watching Joe! Give me a shout when you get ready to make the move.
@@chevyemert5655 Will do...thank you, Chevy.
I’ve been watching all your videos and appreciate the time and effort put into them. I find them very helpful as we will be moving down there in a couple of years. Hope to see more soon.
@@milvetcomics3366 I’ll keep them coming! I’d love to help you with your home search when the time comes!
Awesome review. I love the honesty.
Thank you!
This is really helpful. Considering moving from Florida to TN or TX. Florida cost of living is skyrocketing due to home insurance and property taxes. Experiencing 4 Seasons would be nice with mild Winters.
I’m glad you found it helpful! We definitely get 4 seasons here. If you’d like to talk more about it then feel free to reach out!
Go to Texas. Tennessee is full
We're also looking to move to tennessee from Florida for the same reasons. I've lived in Texas but until they close that border, no thank you.
Love the Smokies! I plan on retiring there. I already have an apartment in Sevierville so when I move I will have a place so I can take my time to find a place permanent. I will keep you in mind!
I too love the smokies! I spend as much time in the park as I can! Thanks for watching and if you need anything at all then just give me a shout!
Thanks 4 sharing! 👍💞
Allergies are bad. Spiders and mosquitos are really bad. Roads are really narrow, no shoulder. So, have a good car. Sorry but property taxes have doubled. Went from $800 a year to $1600 now. We bought our house for $120,000. Now it's worth $300,000. We haven't even had remodeling done. Our deck is falling apart and our driveway needs new concrete.
Mosquitos and spiders are bad anywhere in the South. Property taxes everywhere have gone up due to property values. In general property taxes are still much lower than most other places. Sounds like TN may not be the place for you.
LOL!!!!! $1,600 DOLLARS IS NOTHING!
I like your videos and recommendations! The only concern I have for Tellico Village is the reservoir and damn being so close.
Why does that concern you?
@@chevyemert5655 Flooding issues
@@Deelarkins16 flooding really isn’t a problem. Tva does a great job of moving water. There’s 1000 of homes in east tn around the reservoirs.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. It was very informative. My husband and I are very interested in moving to Tennessee in a couple of years when he's able to retire. We have done some RV trips to check out the areas. What I would like to know is, are there any mother/ daughter homes with some acres ? when looking on Zillow, I haven't seen a whole lot of them.
Thank you for watching! I’m very happy to hear that they’re helping people! We have some properties with “additional loving space”. If you want to talk more about it we can set up a call.
Good question!
lol yeah, if you get triggered by the common conservative stuff like Trump stuff and guns and whatnot, Tennessee ain't fer ya. I'm a wee bit east of Tennessee but have a lot of relatives there and have been tempted to do some visits and maybe stays. If the summers are anything like where I am, they suck. If you can imagine a sauna, but like, several hours a day for months on end, that is summer. Some nights get bad too. The problem is, if you go somewhere with mild summers, the winters will get you. The winters here aren't that bad. I presume eastern Tennessee is similar enough. The mountains might get a bit colder and have milder summers. I remember a summer trip to the mountains of NC. It was like 96F where I lived and up high in the mountains it was in the lower 80s. My goodness it felt nice.
we are looking in Sevier county but it's been a challenge, we might need to buy some unincorporated land here with a conventional loan, not interested living in any other county, since I vlog this county, hubby is VA qualified, but not much in our price range VA approved
I appreciate your information as my wife and I are thinking of retiring in East Tennessee. We live at around 2000’ now and are both from mountain communities originally. I’d be interested in talking with you about what we’re looking for and to see if we’re a good fit for each other. Thank you. Scott
I'm glad the videos area helping Scott I put a lot of work into them. Feel free to contact me anytime.
Thanks. Do you have an email or maybe contact with Messenger?
On my way back to mommas in TN!!!
What are your thoughts about the Tullahoma, Estill Springs area? We're looking to leave Florida. Its overcrowded although we love the governor.
@@MadamMayorsAdventures to be honest I haven’t a clue where that area even is. Definitely not in my area.
I am originally from Memphis but my family moved to Arizona when I was around 4. I do have a ton of family still in the southeast. I am looking for places in East Tennessee and in North Carolina that would be good.
I would love to help out however I can! Feel free to reach out anytime 😁
What town is considered like the Mount Juliet of near Nashville? I’m looking for safe, near some stores? I live in Chicago but have lived in TN in Mount Juliet and miss it so much. Thank u
Possibly Maryville. There’s local coffee shops and tons of shopping. That’s where I live.
Come to Johnson City, TN…. Rated #6 in the US for best City by Wall Street Journal
got it. townsend
I am glad I found your channel. Will eventually need a realtor in Tennessee. We live in Florida and sold our house so we are renting now. Will be moving in the future. We moved here from Tennessee for a job and we want to come back.
I’m very happy to hear you enjoy the channel! I’d be happy to help when the time comes! Feel free to reach out anytime!
Wife and I are hoping to retire in East Tennessee somewhere
Well come on! If you need any help feel free to reach out.
WOW 😧$512.000 AVG Home price ??? WTH. how can the Average Tennessee and going to afford a house there are most of the rest of the country sure you're only going to get people from New York City and California moving there with those prices
I am trying to relocate to TN but I am not retiring. I hope to buy some land and build my home. I just don't know where to start. I would ideally like a place not far from a hospital because that's where I would be working. Any suggestions?
I would reach out to a builder to get an idea of building costs. Land is tricky due to restrictions but certainly doable.
@@chevyemert5655 thanks for responding
Is there a cooking club? Canning? Gardening?
I’m not positive but if you google clubs in tellico village you can find a huge list that has them all! If they don’t offer any of those then you could start one yourself! I’m sure many people would be interested. I garden and love to cook!
What about Dunlap Tennessee in Jasper Tennessee
What's the largest metropolitan city where career people work at? Is it Knoxville?
@@RareAirTwo4 it would be Knoxville. Knoxville is the third largest city in TN.
How high is humidity in summer?
it can get around 70%
Love Trump only one for me
Flying into Nashville. Old Brooklyn buddy living in Clarksville. I’m in South Florida. The insurance, property taxes, HOAs, are going up up up. I’m done. East Tn is much more appealing to me .
Awesome! Let me know if you need any help!
We're also moving from Florida for the same reasons. Looking at property around Arnold AFB.
Do Southeast Tennessee
I don’t cover that section sorry. I don’t want to do videos on places I’m not familiar with. I feel like it’s not genuine.
How about tornadoes??? Know tennessee gets them.
East TN does not get many. West and middle have a lot more.
I think that Sevierville is a good place to visit.
I like the people there.
It's very close to Pigeon Forge so traffic can be bad but it's a nice town.
I really don't like the Trump flags myself but the weather there is good and the scenery is nice too.
your stupid..
I have no intention of moving there.
Too many uneducated Trump supporters there
@@Linda-ic1il Well said
We're full. Go to Arizona.
Are any of those towns Gay friendly for retired Gay Man?
Most people are friendly and tolerate, professionals at work, however í can't speak for every place
Don't rub it in people's faces and be nice and you'll be OK.
I have gay friends and they seem to like it. Most folks in TN are nice and accepting.
West Knoxville has a growing community of gay men due to the booming food scene and upscale shopping, etc.
If seeing a Trump flag is gonna trigger you. This might not be the place for you. 🤣🤣🤣 I love it 🤣🤣🤣
But what does $500K get you
I'd be happy to send you some listings to look at if you're interested in moving to the area.
You can get on a lake for that price in rural areas
Moving from Lancaster Pa. to Scott county in February 2024.LGB.
Glad to hear!
GO TRUMP!!!!!!!!!! GO TENNESSEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TRUMP STATE, YES!! I'M IN CHICAGO. I'M THE ONLY ONE IN THE BLOCK FLYING MY TRUMP FLAGS AND BACK THE BLUE. NEIGHBORS HATE ME! TOO BAD! GO TRUMP!
