Just subscribed. Thank you so much for this! I'm 66 and haven't built a plastic kit in 50 years. I have a few kits but am now afraid even to start. Videos like this are so very helpful. You're an excellent teacher, your videos are a pleasure to watch and learn from, and the background music is lovely. The Thunderbird 2 "Unboxing" and "Build" are great too! Thank you again and best wishes!

You're so very welcome and thank you for the kind words. I want to make this hobby as accessible as possible so hopefully my videos go some way to achieving that. I'm sure you'll do a great job getting back into it.

This takes me back to when I was 8 building my models while dad built his show models next to me and helping me I was only allowed to brush paint bodies no spray paint or airbrush till I was 10 lol. That spray paint has lots of orange peel the model purpose spray cans go on smooth and the clears go on like glass these hardware store paints suck for me atleast

Thank you very much. I like your videos, well edited and a pleasant voice ! And a review of a very underrated kit from Heller.
As i've build one of these kits and have a few in my stash (to convert to a tarmac spec.) , I recently looked at a 2 hour review of the 2000 wrc season.
This Impreza WRC 2000 has new air-vents in the bonnet and made its debut at the 2000 rally Portugal Round 4. And won that one.
It also surprised me that for most of the rallies , both tarmac and gravel, the cars had dark aluminium wheels (including rally Argentina= this kit).
NOT GOLD. I think you can also see that on the nice box-art.
This is a great little kit apart from the 1piece wheels/tires.

Thanks for the kind words and I'm glad you've enjoyed the videos! I'm still pretty new at all of this but I hope I'm getting better.
These are great little kits (I review some of the other ones on a different video too) and you are completely correct about the grey wheels! The box art is a bit off though as if you look closely it says Rally New Zealand too, where they also used the grey wheels.
Again, thanks for the support and keep watching and commenting - I do try to reply to every one! 👍 😁 🚙 🖌

@@BOABModels Thank you for responding. Yes, some of these little Heller kits can challenge very expensive resin-kits!
The weak point are the 1 piece plastic tires/wheel and there are only decals for 1 number / driver version. The most recent Heller 1:43 kit is/was the Citroen C4 WRC 2010 and that one has gravel wheels with seperate rubber/vinyl tires: a big improvement. And it has decals for 2 different drivers. It's one of the best 1:43 kits i've build. I just learned that you are pretty new to this but you do a very good job. Every time i build something, i think i could have something done better than i did. Every model will improve your skills. Now about your Subaru Impreza, you could still paint your wheel-nuts alu or black. Maybe use a toothpick to do that. It will look much better. Next time you use seatbelt-decals try this: cut out the seatbelts with scissors, leaf them on the backing paper and glue them to the seats. If you see the white paper from the side carefully use a black permanent marker. Now maybe you could help me because i'm confused: is it tire or tyre ? is it tires or tyres ? Keep up the good work, I'll follow you on youtube. The most important thing is that you have fun doing what you like and there are some great modellers on youtube that are great fun to watch and learn from.

You're welcome! I agree that the 1 piece tyres and wheels aren't as good as plastic wheels with rubber tyres. I started building with 1/32 Airfix and they have the same style as Heller. I will look for the Citroën though.
So tire is American English whilst tyre is British English. Tire also means to become fatigued.
Thanks for the tips. If you look at some of my other videos you will see that I often make my own seat belts but that is a good idea for 1/43. The CZcams channel is new but I have been doing this for a few years.
Thanks again for your comments and subscription! 👍

I'd like to know which colors are included in Heller's starter kits. Its a serious problem buying the WR blue mica, and without airbrush could be 15€ of spray can, for a 10€ kit which would be the only one painted with

I built the Heller rally championship triple set which had the '05 Impreza. It came with Heller paints 11, 16, 19, 27, 52, 85, 87 and 222. I hope that's helpful.

Sorry to ask but at around 9:52 you talk about apply decals on the inside. How can this be done please? Seems a bit odd to my way of thinking that decals only have one adhesive side. Or am I wrong?

    • @BOABModels
      @BOABModels  Před 11 měsíci

Ordinarily they do but with decal solution you can fit them on the inside. It's not always necessary but I do it sometimes to protect them better.

The eBay link I used isn't there any more but you can try searching 1/43 Heller Subaru Impreza and you should find it or similar.
