Atlantic Starr had two incarnations -- the first or original group with Sharon Bryant (lead on this song) and a pared-down regrouping with new vocalist Barbara Weathers (co-lead on "Secret Lovers" and "Always"). The original Atlantic Starr is much funkier than the second edition, and songs like this and "Circles" proof of that. The original Atlantic Starr could also deliver a great slow song like "Let's Get Closer", but their vibe is more R&B / funk than on their slow songs with Barbara Weathers. They went for a lighter, pop sound on those and not surprisingly, "Secret Lovers" and "Always" were bigger hits. I tend to prefer the original sound though!
