I guess and suspect the latest strategy is as follows: O4 units will only be available when DJI sells O5 as new drones. O5 units will only be available when DJI sells O6 drones, ... So if you always want the best quality, you have to buy DJI drones. That's how they make the most money. And they sell their drones and their units successfully... It's logical...
The real interest in the O4 is to once and for all remove GoPros from fpv drones and still record professional footage. Not only you loose less in case you loose the drone but 180gr lighter drones means much more flight time
They are definitely going to release an O4 unless the ban goes through. They would be missing out on so much revenue if they didn't. I think they're just waiting on the Avata 2 to hit some revenue goals
If the past is any indication I believe they will release it once certain goals are met. It will be an opportunity to sell the 04 Air unit and the Googles 3. And they know there is a customer base that will buy them. When is anyone's guess lol.
@@fbe_dev I don't have money for two pairs of goggles either, I just waited for things to settle and made the right buying choice, my goggles were used bought on ebay after selling my Avata 1, goggles V2 and motion controller to someone. I bought the Avata 2 direct from DJI on 9ffer from a split kit no goggles or controller,
Think the release is more about sales targets and stock levels i.e. maximising revenue. once stock levels of the o3 clear or sales stall in anticipation of the o4 unit will be released…..no doubt they have analytics informing these factors….I’m guessing before xmas
I think BAN in States is the main problem, they will not get certification for new items, its mean they will not be able to sell it in US territory. States is not the whole world, but more likely the most profitable area.
I think DJI’s issue right now is compatibility across all the googles they’re currently supporting. With the Avata 2 you can either get 1080p with the goggles 2, or 120hz 720p with the older goggles 1 (v2). It doesn’t matter much for the more casual Avata buyers, but I fly the O3 a lot and much prefer 120hz mode over the higher fidelity 60hz mode. Once they release a goggle that supports both 1080p and 120hz you’ll see a standalone 04 system. Even if you still have to choose between quality and frame rate.
Yes…but I’m referring to the “stand alone” 04 Air Unit Systems specifically for FPV Quads. Sorry…if wasn’t clear on that. The DJI Air 3 does use the 04 HD Video Transmission System but it’s components are different. If you look at the “DJI 03 Air Unit” on the DJI store selling for $299.00 right now you’ll see what I mean. It’s an air unit, antenna, and camera module packaged together specifically for FPV quads. 👍
@@RGMGFitness what makes you say it will be more expensive? Last meeting (late fall 2023) I was at we were discussing that the air unit price will likely be $30 cheaper than the O3 air unit as the parts and manufacturing are both significantly cheaper on O4. Mind you this was a year before the public release of the O4 air unit, and my information is not the most current as I have been traveling and vacationing since then, and not in the loop too much, but still... This type of stuff rarely changes and roadmap timelines and pricing are within a few percent of target in the worst case.
Price just dropped to $179.00 (USD) on the DJI O3 Air Unit (was $229.00). So perhaps we can see the 04 System sometime in the near future. 👍👍👍

So true! It gets quite expensive when you lose a quad with the GoPro mounted to it.

The O4 might be introduced at the IFA 2024 this weekend.
Their osmo action 5 will be there.
The price discount is a hint.

i bought avata 2 not knowing it doesnt support o3.
really wanted to use o3 air unit with goggle 3
I bought tha Avata2 knowing it would work with my goggles 2 and fpv controller which also work with my 03 air units and original air unit and vista 😊

I’m good with the 03air unit , just need to make better cameras 📷 for it 🎉
Watch them announce the 04 tomorrow lol
LOL.....trying to add a little pressure by doing videos like this as well! Can't hurt!
O4/O3 is too expensive for kamikaze fpv drones, analog is way cheeper. For dji product at the frontier - Mavic's, especially thermo and zooming.
I really hope they release a receiver with an HDMI out with it I want to use my own viewings method
I really don't think that the same demographics buy the O3 units and the Avata.
Largely, I would agree. Though, I personally own a bunch of camera drones and several FPVs. But, its certainly different person to person.
I wonder if we could unsolder the O4 Unit from an Avata 2 to resolder it in an other drone !
Anythings possible....doubt most would have the patience to try and pull it off though. Doubt I would have the patience.
