    03:45 I did that area in April and it was tough for me because my knees don’t like any pressure on them so I had to rely on my upper body strength to move.
    It was super exhausting!

      I vividly remember doing this for the first time. I was very nervous and very apprehensive. That was over 35 years ago!

      @@CaverKeithwe had no knee or elbow pads so the hardness of the rock killed me. But a lot of our group wouldn’t go through that bit but proud I managed to do it.
      It was hard to breath after the exertion.

    Keith, thank you so much for this one!
    The initiation choir brought a tear to my eye - really beautiful.
    Does Wellington finally offer dino boots in adult sizes or do we have to pester them with mails until they change their mind?

    • @CaverKeith

      I want a pair, I really do. We are going to have to start a concerted campaign to get them produced in larger sizes.
      Sadly the last time I went caving with her, she had outgrown the dinosaur wellies.

    Who could say no to caving, when you get to wear the fanciest wellies there are.
    Seriously. They should make those for adults as well.
    Thanks again for sharing this. The difference between a squeeze for a child and an adult was interesting to see.
    Save caving!

    • @CaverKeith
      @CaverKeith  Před 2 lety

      If they made these wellies in adult sizes, I think I would have to buy a pair too.
      The trip was really good fun.
      Thanks for watching.

      @CaverKeith  Před 2 lety

      Thanks Phil. It always used to involve a good soaking but recently there has been a concerted digging effort in St Patricks Passage and the diggers have managed to drain the pool in the Waterfall Entrance.

    Nice video looks like the little one had a great day, I was there 2 weeks ago, there's an ongoing dig at the end of St Patricks passage, still hopeful that one day it breaks through to Aggie.I've got footage as were doing a video from the entrance to the Western and Eastern series, and the warren. Maybe run into you one day, cheers.

    This should be child endangerment. This should only be legal after 18, when they can legally make their own decisions.

    • @CaverKeith
      @CaverKeith  Před 2 lety +4

      I've been expecting a comment like this.
      The facts are that risk of her having a serious injury was many thousands of times greater when she travelled to the cave in the backseat of a car.
      Should we classify transporting children in cars as child endangerment?
      She would also have been at a much greater risk riding a bike, riding a horse, skiing, walking along a pavement, playing football or climbing in an adventure playground. Should we not allow children to do these things?
      The cave is a beginners cave and has been used for introducing people to caving for several decades. Also she was accompanied by very experienced cavers. We were never more than 5 minutes from an entrance. The risks were absolutely minimal.
      Have you watched the whole video? Have you seen how enthusiastically she spoke about the trip? She loved every minute of it! She will have some fantastic memories to look back on when she is older. Would you deny her this?
      I respect you opinion. I hope you will respect mine.
      Keith

    • @underworldtoby
      @underworldtoby Před rokem

      Dude, have you EVER been caving yourself? Do you know the difference between risk and danger?
      Also, do you seriously think that just by passing a certain date - in your statement your 18th birthday - you are all of a sudden capable of making responsible and qualified decisions? How would that come about, then?
      I strongly believe in well adjusted education. And if a kid wants to go caving, it will do a lot for its overall development.
      Keith is pretty capable of judging the abilities of someone he takes caving, and if you watched the video you should have noticed that she had a lot of fun and was absolutely great in her performance.
