  • Welcome to Wonderhussy Adventure #377
    Date of adventure: 10/11/19
Exploring an abandoned Death Valley mining camp where a Basque "single blanket jackass prospector" named Pete Aguereberry lived and worked a claim for 40 years! This little camp gave me the idea to remake an updated version Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, only set in Death Valley -- starring a certain nosy CZcamsr ;-)

That Coleman range worked exactly like a Coleman camp stove. The liquid fuel flowed into a tube called the generator that went through the flame which heated it to boiling thus turning it into gas which was then burned.

Coolest opening music ever! Pete Aguereberry was a tough hombre, he got introduced to the Death Valley by almost dying in it. And he worked his mine nearly all by himself until his health got worse. What a cool place

I think that hitch was its downfall. My bet is it was towing a heavy load out there when it overheated and either blew the head gasket or cracked the head.

Should have continued up the dirt road to Aguereberry Point. 6-1/2 miles of road constructed by himself to a promontory point, where you can see the highest(Mt Whitney) and lowest(Badwater) spots in the contiguous USA. Mt Charleston also..It is really a cool place.

6 = 8 Twin H Power! The wreck isn’t a Hudson, they had big straight 6’s. But straight 8’s can be smooth like butta. I had a Packard straight 8 once and can attest to that. This car looks like a GM product, maybe a Buick or Caddy.

The car that you found is a 1948 Buick 2 door sedan. I learned to drive in San Francisco in a 1948 4 door sedan straight eight and a three speed manual on the column in the 60's. I passed my DMV test in Los Gatos in a 55 Chevrolet with a manual 3 speed and the examiner could not believe how well I drove it on the hills.

Great job showing theses interesting places. Really improved since some of the earlier videos I binge watched but those were good too. Listening to the talk about smoking made me grab an 1/8th at local Boston dispensary. I haven’t smoked it much since the 70’s/80’s. $48 and 22% sales tax. The stuff still isn’t my favorite. I just ate about 8lbs of peanut M&M’s and my stomach is killing me. I’ll stick with Xanax and Klonopin to mellow out.
