Fire ants are angry that we disked up our garden. What is a safe way to get rid of them so they don’t make my garden work miserable?

I've been following you for quite a while! Both you and Kim are my favorite Gardener CZcamsrs. This was such an informative video. My husband and I are in Tennessee and maintain a couple different gardens throughout our yard. We had huge problems this year with Beatles and worms from the moths. Been spraying like crazy but so glad found and I've been trying to follow your recipes!

You're becoming my favourite garden guru. Here in one 5b I have earwigs (in wet summers, my poor zinnia), powdery mildew, leaf spot, and aphids (pooping from my tree, above the patio table!!) I've given up on lilies because of those nasty little red bugs.

Hey Gary, thanks for the video! Just placed an order for Peppermint oil. I have some little spiders eating my grape leaves, and pepper leaves. I took a few pictures of the buggers, I can also see where they are laying eggs on the stems. I’ve used the dish soap wash once thus far.

Gary keep up the great work absolutely love your videos are very informative and very much help. Hydrogen peroxide I have been also told can help with the fungus gnat and the lava dinner in the ground around your vegetables. A mixture of ratio of 1 to 41 being the hydrant peroxide and for being water if you Soak the rooted area around your plants it will kill the lava inside the soil so that they do not eat your roots of your vegetables let me know if you've heard this before I hope you have a wonderful day and thank you for the help.

Now for another use. I had 2 strawberry beds that got Red Stele root rot. Every garden advice site I went to told me to tear the plants out, remove all the soil and start from scratch again. But in the process I ran across one site (and only one) that said neem oils can be effective against bad bacteria in the soil. So I figured, why not try it?
I mixed the neem oil in gallon containers at the recommended amount and saturated the soil. Only takes about 2-3 tablespoons per gallon with some castille soap as an emulsifier.
Saturated the beds twice, The new shoots that started were totally green w/o any red. The infected stems died, but the new stems did not get infected. Saved all the plants and both beds. That was 2 years ago. You also have the advantage that, as the neem oil breaks down in the soil, it becomes a usable fertilizer.

Thanks so much. Very glad to help. Pepper mint and soap sprays a long time. Neem I say to use it quickly like in a coupe days. H202 has to be used that day. It varies.

Do you ever get into guiding the indoor gardener?
I live in an apartment and am hoping to turn it into a year-'round garden. It's the first time in my life I've encountered fungus gnats. There's certainly a learning curve.
I live in Toronto, so if I want plants all year it must be indoors
I haven't done enough to speak on it but for seed starting. Gnats indoors are such a pain. Putting 1 inch of sand in the larger plant pots stop the fungus gnat cycle.

I really like all the videos and tomato tips, they've really helped my tomatoes the past few years! Does the baking soda that goes into the soil due to the rain make the soil alkaline and does this affect the tomato plants? And does the hydrogen peroxide damage your soil life?
Excellent. Glad to help. It is really isnt enough baking soda to change soil pH. H202 can kill good bacteria but not nearly at any level to worry. Maybe some right on surface if any.

Just found your channel. In my area (NY) SLF has made its appearance. I have an old replanted seedless white grape vine from my grandfather. Primarily used as a shade vine on top of my pergola. The black small nymphs just appeared. Loved to know your opinion regarding this invasive species. I hate to lose the vine. If you have a specific formula that will help with them and the bud mites please advice.

I would use insect dust. Look up flea beetles on my channel.. You can find products on my amazon shop. Use any spinosad like Captain Jacks which is organic. Or Sevin which is not. They both work.

I swear I'm seeing some signs of early blight from tomatoes started from seed still in the darned pots just sitting in flats on my driveway and patio LOL Now planted but due for 4-5 straight days of rain. I've already gone to Copper and might do some covering. Tomatoes are no joke!
Might be leaf spot. Cold and rain does it for the fungus.

Hello i have a quick question - I bought Dyna Gro - Pure Neem Oil do i assume it has azadactrin in it?
Do you use different container or spray bottles for each mix or is it ok to use same one just give it a good rinse?

Love all this great information. I've been desperately searching for a "Rotational, or mixed spraying schedule for dummies" Then I can put these on my calendar. My plan is to incorporate Neem, baking soda, Epsom salt, Peroxide and possibly some peppermint oil as well as DE and maybe aspirin. Also if there is a best order, understanding that one may not fit all dependent on if blight shows up or bugs etc. Is this possible to put in one information space? Also a general guide on what each spray is safe to use on each vegetables, knowing of course that I am responsible for my 24-48 hour test spray.

Thank you for your videos, this is just the info I was needing. One question - do I need to avoid spraying flowers of plants or flowering plants completely because of pollinators? There is so much conflicting info about Neem harming or deterring pollinators.
Any oil contacting insects can be an issues. You can't avoid that. I have not had an issues spraying flowers. My garden is always alive and buzzing. The goal is to let oil sprays dry and only that that eat it, die off.

do you have any idea how to get rid of white soil mites...i have tried everything whatever you are mentioning in this video but these are really ineffective on those bugs who killed all of my okra seedlings in a big container... Thanks for any suggestions...:> keep good work coming...

I never tried it be people say it works. It competes for the pores, the fungi attach too on the leaf, generally speaking.

H202 should be left alone. But you can mix the other but all plants dont need all 3 at once. Just be careful.

We got uour neem oil from your shop. I used it yesterday 2tbsp neem 1tbsp soap in one gallon water. Today I found a tiny black worm in a plant and several had light green eggs. What do you suggest I do? These plants were sprayed yesterday over and under the leaves. How often should I reaply? Should I up to dose? TIA

You,gumbo and cali kim are the only u tubers i trust.btw, using organic cedar shavings as mulch along with companion basil almost no worms or aphids no blight yet either ( knock wood) tomatoe plants are producing like never before.coincedence?luck ? Who knows .if i use bt ( found a few small horn worms) can i mix with other stuff or wait a day for a seperate( h2o2 etc) preventitive fungus spray?
Hi Gary! I have a question, does neem oil hurt/kill frogs? I used it a couple times before, then found a dead toad in my garden. Poor guy didn’t have any sign of predator damage or anything. I haven’t been able to find any information online if it kills them or not. Thank you so much for sharing this information! Going to use it on my tomatoes to kill spider mites.
How long do you wait after you’ve used one spray (let’s say neem oil) before you use another spray e.g. baking soda? Can you do them one after the other or do you wait a day or more? Do you use different sprayer bottles for different recipes? Would be great to see how you do it! Thanks so much for your videos, I have learned so much over the years. I really need to be proactive about diseases, this has been one of my big gardening mistakes.

Yep store bought neem... I use castille type soap now. I used to use Ivory as basic as they have. Glad to help. Good luck this year.

When spraying with the neem oil solution, is it okay to mix a small amount of hydrogen peroxide in with it also? Thank you in advance for your information/advice.
