Blizzard Conditions | Alberta Clipper | Winter Storm Izzy | 1/17/2022

Winter Storm Warning for Summit County. Between 12-16" snow fell in 12 hours.
Storm originated from an Alberta clipper & embedded Short-wave Trough. Heavy white-out conditions lasting 4.5 hours.
This event was quite rare because the heavy snow bands moved up from the SE, then the rotation in the system, with help from the trough, caused the same snow bands to come back down from the N. Essentially the snow bands hit the area twice.
Blizzard conditions are:
(1) 35+mph winds sustained, or frequent gusts at 35+mph
(2) 0.25mi or less visibility for 3+ Hours
