Yep, remembered them all. But I can't remember what I did last Thursday.
LOL, I know what ya mean.
I hear you. Somebody said I had a good time.
Welcome to the club.
I forgot what I was going to say here. LoL
@@kentmorton2872 ....I stay in the kitchen. Been baking since'67.
Knew them without even reading the artists’ names. But then again, I’m over 60 and was always into music.
Got them all Phil
Ditto me. 👍
I was born 71 but still got 10 outta 10 on the quiz. My Dad & his mom both played all those songs & more as I was growing up. Even my youngest likes listening to music from the 50's & later.
Not 60 yet, but still got them all. A couple were educated guesses dependent upon eliminating the artsts who weren't born back in '72.
No one would be able to tell you any of the "artists", lol, today either, but at least in the 70's the _artists_ had talent.
Got that right!!!
Ridiculous easy. Didn’t even look at the multiple choice options to score 10 out if 10,.
I had 9 of 10 before checking the multiple choices. The exception was "You've Got a Friend," where my guess was Carole King before looking at the choices. Of course, James Taylor had the hit. I knew the Buoys from once doing a top ten list of songs where the music sounds happy but the lyrics aren't!
The choices are obvious with artists from recent decades . Ariana ( I hate Americans) Grande was not around to sing What's Going On back in 72.
AuthenticBassman , that’s because you’re “AuthenticBassman! 😎👍🏼💯✨🎼
Good on you. I got all but the last one. 😑
Got em all but that last one
@@drive9997 I used the process of elimination on the last one.
Got them all but then again I'm over 70 and am a Professional Guitarist an vocalist. Love these old songs.
I'm 58, so all were easy for me. The last one was hard. I got my first tape recorder in 72'. I find 72' was one of the best years of music. One of the few years in music that we all knew the words to the songs. But for me, at least, the best decade for everything was the 70's. I love the 70's. Also early 80's.
I like the 60's music better, as I was always in Trivia contests . But IM 71, BUT im cooler than the other side of the pillow....
Extremely easy, especially if you’re over 60.
LOL - on point - Jeff
Yeah, but remember. We didn't have cable or DT. We had no internet. We read books and lived on the radio. 👍
It was extremely easy for me and I’m only 35
I just assumed this was all well known information 🤷♂️
@@moniqueperreault2720 me too and I'm 37
Got em all. Although the last one was an educated guess.
Exact same here - I was a teen listening to radio every day; The last one must've been obscure enough to throw people off. Some of those songs though, were more 'known' than 'popular' in '72, Janis and Morrison were deceased.
exact same here too...first 9 were easy..the last 1 i got right because eliminating the other 3 but really wasn't sure...i LOVE anything from the 70's ! !
I used to like the song Timothy until I found out what it was about. 😭
Me too , never heard Timothy maybe it never made it to Wales.
Yup, I got them all correct as well. I was stumped on the last one but also made an educated guess.
54 years old and went 10 for 10. Was always into what is now known as the classics.
Never even heard of the last one, all the rest were easy.
It's a song about "supposed " cannibalism. The lyrics will freak you out.
I nailed 10/10, but I did guess on the last one, "Timothy." The rest were pretty easy. But then, I'm old!
I didn't even try on the tenth one, had no clue!
I wouldn't have been able to answer that one back in '72, either. I found a YT video and as far as I can tell I've never heard it before. It apparently reached #17 on the charts, but it may have been one of those songs that was popular in some areas and not played at all where I was. I didn't even recognize the name of the Buoys, so I got the 50/50 guess wrong because I did recognize the Daniel Powter name.
@@stevepseudonym445 I'm from the 60's era, and I also know a lot of songs and artists from the 50's & 70's, but, not on that one! Never heard of the song, or the group!
Yeah, thats the one I missed.
I had no idea who number 10 was
I guess Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison came back from the dead to sing these songs in 1972.
In all fairness, "Pearl" was released posthumously.
All these songs came out in 1971
Didn't know Janis Joplin sang country.
@@anthonymurphy2779 Not exactly a country song, not like one I've ever heard anyway
Mike but maybe most popular in 72?
Gotta say I never heard of the Bouys. The rest were easy. Have all the rest on vinyl.
I didn’t know the last song. Never heard of “Timothy”. The rest were too easy, for one of my years (mid 60’s).
You gotta listen to it. It’s about three people trapped in a cave that collapsed and resorted to cannibalism. It was a controversial song back in the day.
@@onionhead5780 ... Thanks 😊. I’ll check it out.
Exactly
@@onionhead5780 Somebody, I think the producers of the album, suggested that the title character was a M-U-L-E! True story! Also, I think the song was written by Rupert Holmes, the "Pina Colada" guy.
Good old song about cannibalism!!!
When does the hard part of the quiz start?
Very well put! Ridiculously simple!
too simple
Yeah, I see a lot of people had problems with #10, but I don't see why.....it was a major hit.
@@skroy8671 I've never heard of it, but I knew what the answer was, since the other three choices weren't around in 1972.
@@gemini2012100 Good deduction on your part! At least you knew who was, and wasn't around in 1972. I remember it being such a big thing though, because it spoke of cannibalism....not to mention it was a catchy tune. ;)
All 10. 15 years old in 1972. AM radio and buying records was my entertainment.
Don't remind me😀
LOL...nice
Me too...15 in 1972...one of the best years to be alive AND a teen!
I graduated HS in 88. My sister in 81. Was always a lil jealous. I remember it all but was so young. Just like Dazed and Confused she would have been a freshman...love that movie
I was 13 at the time and happily buying 45's and burning a hole in them. Loved the countdowns on the AM. Then FM hit...
I could hear them as the songs popped up, these songs were on the radio during my junior year in high school.
So okay I missed the last one but only because I hated it and would change the station every time it came on, so I never knew who sang it 🤣
Never heard it or heard of it.
That was easy. I picked every one without hardly trying.
It helps that I did A LOT of top 40 radio listening in ‘72.
Aced it! Now it's official: I have too much info floating around in my brain, and WAY too much time on my hands! (A Styx reference, lol!)
I got all but number 10. Damn I'm old. I don't know the song Timothy and I don't remember The Buoys at all!!!! All that wacky tabacky I did in the 60's I guess. Loved the 60's and the 70's miss it like crazy. Oh well.
I saw that 😁
But not from 1972.
BAMM! Got 10 for 10 right in record time! These were all songs that immediately played in my mind in the respective artist’s voice!💪😏
10 out of 10 I was born in 1956 so would hear all these great songs .
10/10
Then again I'm 60 years old.
I should know all these songs
Not too far behind you (58). We grew up with these songs.
John B. They were just too easy.
John B. Me too; I’m 62. I still listen to all these songs.
66 and still partying into the night 😁
Me too. I'm 64.
Got them all. Had to think just for a second on "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" as that was a Joan Baez cover of a song by The Band.
I’d forgotten that song existed!!
Actually released in 1971...
I'm 53, and I only missed the last one. It is the only song I don't know on the list. My first response to the "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" was The Band, even though the rendition by Joan Baez is the first one I heard. My dad bought the 45 rpm when it came out, and it moved me greatly.
Way too easy! I'm 65 today ( 15-16 at that time) and I was listening to all this growing up!
10/10.
I'm over 60 as well.
Back when Airwaves ruled the mass media.
The test would be harder if some of the incorrect answers were from the 60s and 70s too
Especially "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" which should have also included The Band to at least offer a tiny bit of a challenge.
@@stevepseudonym445 Judy Collins being in the choices may have stumped some people.
exactly! Keep them all in same era. Don't put 90's & 00's as choices. I got 10 for 10
Agree. Knew them but the later were bands made it even more obvious.
Got them all! I'm 57. I stayed by my radio when I was younger WABC 77 am.
10/10 I'm 70 and I heard all of these on AM radio sometimes with lots of static.
I was 7 years old in 1972. Always been a fan of the oldies. I did miss 2 songs. That's ok. I learned something.
Same here I was only 7 and missed two.
Uncle Jessy has been hitting the shine hard again
You don't hit shine, cause it hits you back.
He needs to clean his fucking kitchen
Please can we have the quiz without beardy weirdy .
I’m 56 born 3/4/1965 and I remember my sister would play all these songs.
I missed number 9. I was born in 66 but am a huge music fan, especially rock. Enjoyed the quiz. I was surprised to see how many I could get correct. Thanks for sharing.
10out of 10.I am 68 and the 60’s and 70’s were my favorite years of music
My favorite too would you say that the United States is better now than it was then I don't think so
66 here and yeah, 60s and 70s music was awesome. The weed kinda sucked though, except for the little packages I got sent to me from Vietnam Nam 😂 That stuff was the real deal !!
Take Me Home, Country Roads was actually from the summer of 1971.
So were 2or 3 others!
The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down was The Band. Written by Robbie Robertson.
10 for 10 ... remember all the songs, even started singing them'
10/10 I grew up in the 1970's.Still love that music.💕
I got them all as soon as I saw the title I knew who sang each and everyone of them.
I missed the last two. I was 6 years old when these tunes came out.
10 of 10. Timothy was written by Rupert Holmes of "Escape" the Pina` Colada song fame. It was about three boys trapped in a mine collapse and two survived horrible hunger by eating Timothy. It was banned because of its cannibalism reference.
10 out of 10. I was in high school when all these songs came out. I listened to them on the radio endlessly.
Only the last song was not known by me. Ha! Still have my memory, so far 😁.
10/10. Know the all. Have some of them, including Timothy! Love that deliciously dark song. This was fun! Thanks.
Got em all. I'm 53, gotta come up with a tougher quiz!!!!!
10/10.Easy peasy quiz. I remember all of these songs. I was 16 in 1972.
This was my favorite year. I'd be ashamed of myself if I had missed any of them. lol
Perfect 10...but clueless to any of my passwords! LOL
I got 10 out of 10 on this. I collected music since 1960 and graduated high school in 1972 and listening to and collecting and recording lots of music then so I got all right 10 out of 19.
51 years old, got 9/10 and am disgusted in myself! Last one did me in.
By the way. Thanks for giving us these quizzes. They are fun.
3 of the 4 are modern artists.
@@winstonsmith3690 That's how I got the right answer on #10, by process of elimination. I would not have come up with that name on my own even though still I know all of the words to the song.
I missed number 10 also and I'm 60.
Exactly the same here,.
Same here. I'll be 52 in a little over a week. Never heard "Timothy" before.
It's nice that the music takes you back to better times I feel sorry for the kids that are going to have to think back 40 years from now what this country was like now
I took your challenge and got 10/10 - but I can’t say anything boastful because you’re such a lovely bearded old man. Thank you 🙏🏽✌🏼
10 out of 10. I think I heard them all when they first came on the radio in 1972.
Got 7, so not too bad. Enjoyed the memories - from a 64 year old. 🇬🇧🇺🇸
I got every single one, but to be honest, I guessed at number 10.
Glad you were honest...I know music Extremely well and I got 9 out of 10!! Get quiz tho
I also had to guess the last one. And I was 12 in 1972.
If you watched WKRP, it was a trivia question on the TV show! Johnny Fever used it for his radio contest.
same here got em all but guessed number 10... born in 1950
Me too. 10/10
10 of 10!! I love these songs. Still sing 'The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down'.
10/10 and not even 50 yet. We always had music on in the house as a kid
9/10, but "Timothy" and Google have cost me my honour and my appetite
Yeah that one I didn't know
I remember that song, it's a creepy one. Timothy gets cannibalized!
I never heard of that song either!! That was the only one that I got wrong as well!!
"Timothy"
A song about cannibalism and a Dr. Demento favorite.
According to the "buoys" on TV the song was misleading.
I listened to a fair amount of Dr Demento (and saw him and Weird Al around '82), but I still don't recognize the song at all. Fish Heads, OTOH is recognizable in the first 1/2 second and for some weird reason I know it was by Barnes and Barnes. I can also thank Dr Demento for my introduction to "The Wizard of Speed and time".
@@stevepseudonym445 Barnes and Barnes. Bill Mumy and whoever else.
Mike Jittlov never got the break in the SFX industry he deserved. At least he got to make the full feature film.
Written by Rupert Holmes (The Pina Colada Song guy)
Timothy ... Timothy! Where on earth did you go? Timothy ... Timothy! God, why don't I know ????" Lol
9 out of 10, the last one I missed. I am 60 so I remember 1972 very well.
Got them all rigt. What a trip down memory lane, thanks!!
C'mon now. The only one of the 10 that was even remotely obscure or difficult was the last one, and I still got it right. No way would anybody under the age of 50 fail this.
I’m 50 and I wouldn’t have even needed the visual of the multiple choices. I’ve always been obsessed with pop music/ culture though. Quite a few of these songs actually predated 1972.
Boomers Unite!! 😁👍🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I don’t remember the last song: Timothy by The Buoys. .....thank god 😖
I am 69 and I did not get it.
You mean OVER the age of 50?
@@malcolmmorrison4937 I just turned 70 and missed 2. At least we can say we are not perfect like some;-)
This was a blast. I'm so mad, I only got 8. So fun. Loved the 70's.
Thank you.
10 out of 10. I'm an ex radio DJ, plus I grew up in the 70's
So coincidental, just a few days ago I mentioned the theme of "Timothy" to a young person named the same who thought I was kidding... so I looked up the lyrics for him.
WAYYYY too easy! I did like the last question, "Timothy" was a fairly obscure song.
It was, but I loved that song! :)
Wasn't that song about cannibilism? Seriously, where on earth did he go? The Bouys ate him... yikes!
That was the toughest one, but I got it and the others.
10 out of 10 (c'mon , it wasn't too hard , even if 10 was the likeliest candidate)
I got all except this one. I'll have to look it up.
9/10 never heard of the last one , least I dont remember it
It’s about cannibalism
@Billie midget. Where on Earth did you goooo?
Same here. First 9 were no brainers.
9/10 for me, too. Never heard of the last song.
I remember the song, but I don't think I ever knew who sang it.
Born in '70, had to guess the last three, still 10/10! :)
Papa Walton!

10/10... Used to listen to KRLA, KHJ, KMET, then... KOST all Los Angeles CA radio stations... I knew them all!

10 of 10 - too easy with so many names not even born at the time of the song release. Somehow, in 50 years time - I really doubt if anyone will remember any of Ariana Grande's (or whatevers) songs
That's true, some of the choices were silly. But I knew all but one of those songs anyway. Question 10 got me. I never heard of it. Have a blessed day...🎸🙂🎶

But regardless of hearing the song or not how could you consider pitbul , Daniel Powter or R Kelly for a 1972 song ? Dumb !
I did not know the last one. Love 70's music!
9 out of 10 missed the last one.
10 for 10 and in 1972 Iwas just 7 until turned 8 in the month of October of '72 so at that time in my life things I liked stayed with me over the years! Those were the good old days!!

Joan Baez had a big hit with '...Dixie..' , at least in Australia around '71/'72. Not sure if it was a hit for the BAND in '72.
Kevin Cowan I was also born in 61 but the last one got me
The big hits were by James Taylor and Joan Baez. Carole and The Band recorded (and wrote) the songs, but didn't come close to the single sales bye James and Joan.
10 right
“You’ve Got a Friend” should be a Carole King song. She wrote it, NOT James Taylor. And her version was much better. Tapestry was one of the best albums ever.
10 out of 10, but not only being a musician, I'm 54 so this was pretty easy for me.
10 for 10. If I had missed number 8 all my friends would have smacked me.
