@Arif Al Amin lewis has been a championship competitor in nearly every season he's been in, save for this year and maybe one or two years with mclaren, racing guys like kimi, fernando, seb, etc. guy also had competition from ferrari from 2017-19, and from nico in 2014 and 15. 2020 was the only real season where he had no competition. He only ever really made contact with Nico, and even then the worst thing he did was push him into runoff, Nico damaged both of their cars numerous times, and Verstappen last year.

At this point Mika was the fastest man on F1. Michael was good, but it was more down to consistency, also helped by a more reliable Ferrari, something the McLaren wasn't and just got worse over the years.

Mika Hakkinen, at probably the best overtake in F1 history. No probably could beat him even today. I 55 years old no good beat him well. I retired in 2001 when he had a son, so yeah, so you kind of cuts off everything.
Remember this so very well as is yesterday and even though i am Schumacher fan, i love this Mika move and rate is one of the best ever. McLaren was highest powered car then and i don't want to take anything away from Mika and he was an excellent driver but Michael despite having quite an under powered car around 50 hp less atleast, was far better driver and 98,99 season were quite close and fascinating
Issue with McLaren at the time was they couldnt make reliable cars if their life depended on it, for both Mika and Kimi. Ferrari might have had less power, but it was far more reliable car, making it better in that way.
We must not forget, mika had at that time the quickest car on track. As far as the best driver overall, I’ll run with Michael Schumacher all the way, hands down…..
