The first tanks were developed during World War I to break the bloody stalemate on the Western Front. Although small compared to future tanks, the Renault FT was deployed as a breakthrough and exploitation role and was equipped with either a low-velocity 37mm cannon or two machine guns. Its two-man crew consisted of a driver and tank commander, who doubled as the tank's gunner.
Over 3,000 were built for service on the Western Front. A copy of the Renault was manufactured in the USA under license and was standardized as the M1917. The American version can be easily distinguished by the location of the muffler to the left side of the hull, whereas the original French version had the muffler located on the right. The Renault FT has the distinction of setting the pattern for future tank development: fully tracked vehicle with engine located in the rear and a single fully-rotating turret.
QF 13 Pounder:
Considered a light field gun, the 13 Pounder was highly mobile and could maintain a high rate of fire. Their mobility made them well-suited as a support weapon for cavalry divisions. During the first months of the Great War, they were widely deployed to help slow the German offensive. As the Western Front developed into trench warfare, these guns were largely replaced by the 18 Pounder. Several 13 Pounders would be retrofitted as anti-aircraft guns or sent to other theaters such as the Middle East.

Great kits as always. But the officer (indeed an Lieutenant) probably did wear boots instead of puttees like the men did.
We based this figure off actual photographs and this is what they were wearing in the field. There are other pictures with the officers in riding boots.

I sure did love the ONE SINGLE space race build. :/ You guys could've done a cosmonaut minifigure or even a sputnik kit, but nooo, only one build, a rocket plane.

no, what I'm saying is that the space race month is over and brickmania is moving on, we have to wait a year for anything in this line up.
There was no "space race month." We will do more kits like this throughout the year.
Oh, thanks for clearing that up, I thought January had a specific theme and it was "space race" I guess that it was just an odd kit, sorry for that.
What they are doing now is year long themes with a week of each month of dedicated to that theme. For 2018 they are doing 1943, The Space Race, Dark Future, and WW1. This means that we'll be getting more kits per theme in total over the year than for a themed month. You can check what kits are getting released each month in the flyer they post on their blog.

An updated version of the Renault FT is currently in production and our current British gun is the 18 Pounder. We have no current plans to bring back the QF 13 Pounder.

Hey guys, love this tank - glad it's getting re-released! Can you re-release some of the WW2 French tanks too? Also, just a small complaint, but could you go back to using real pictures of lego in your product pictures (on your website)? I love the animations in the videos, but I think it looks better (especially with the minifigures) to use real pictures.
WWII French tanks are already on the the restock list. Look for them in the next couple of months.
