I love this episode because I felt the exact same way when I was in little league. "I just wanna go home and play video games, this sucks." The parents just living their dreams through their kids whether they like baseball or not. I feel like the boomers love baseball more than the newer generation does.
Hate it when parents do that. It doesn't matter if you gave life to them. Your kids are not your puppets. They're human beings too.

This is the episode that really defines Randy's character, making him one of / if not the best character on South park 🤣
Before this episode Randy's character was more of a background character, but this is where his character starts becoming more of a main character in the series. This is definitely one of my favorite episodes 👏

Notice how South Park kinda sucks at remembering characters names? For instance, Batdad is known as “Tom Nelson” by a Denver mom, but then he is later called “Chris” by his wife at the game.
Maybe Chris is his middle name.

Oh god, as I've said before, for some reason your commentary has a way of bringing up the stories.
Several years ago now I was working with a group of people for Walgreens going around and remodeling stores. All the stores we did were in a single district, but the district was spread wide and for some of them the company would put us up in hotels out of town. (Most were in Seattle, some were a drive to get to and not everybody could make it but we picked up extra people from the places we went to help out there. I traveled every time except for one because I had something else going on that week).
ANYWAY, usually the company either allowed us to stay over the weekend or at least allowed us to drive out to the hotel they would put us up in Sunday night, but one of the stores which was far enough away to warrant a hotel stay they didn't think was so far away we couldn't get up extra early Monday morning for the drive out - no Sunday night hotel for us. It's about a two and a half hour drive so I said screw that and got a room at the motel 6 for the night on Sunday. The motel 6 was right off the freeway, in the more questionable part of town.
Well, one of my coworkers who lived there told me watch out for women walking up and down the street with big gulp cups from 7-11. Those are the prostitutes. So that night before bed I'm sitting outside next to the pool enjoying the warm summer night air, looking out into the street, and sure enough every so often a woman would walk her way slowly up or down the street with big gulp cups from 7-11 in their hand.
And... how much you wanna bet that the parents are just remembering their childhood through rose-tinted glasses, and that they didn't *actually* enjoy baseball as kids either?

At first I was wondering, if Denver's team was so good at losing on purpose, then how did they accidentally make it to the final round? Then I realized, they probably needed a lot of target practice to reach that point.
In baseball, if you aim for the worst possible target on purpose, then the slightest miscalculation will bring you a step closer to victory whether you want it or not. For example, if you're the pitcher, and you aim for the opponent's bat, the slightest miscalculation will send the ball straight through the strike zone. Similarly, if you're the batter, and you aim for an opponent's glove in the outfield, then the slightest miscalculation will force you to first base.

Because "every child is special". everyone gets a participation award and kids don't learn the value of loosing anymore, pushing them to become better and a winner.
