@@LJLee-gt9uw - With the utmost respect, how self-define yourself as an African-American but don't even consider that Africa is a continent with over a billion people. These African nation states even within their own states have different tribes/clans with different languages and different tribal interests. So called Black Culture isn't monolithic and very American. I have South African relatives that listen to American music, movies, follow some American fashion, eat American food but in no way do they relate to Americans except in the most superficial and abstract ways.

    • @LJLee-gt9uw

@@jjohanesson9139 of course I'm not American in the white sense in terms of the full benefits of America but I'm genetically and historically African. We as African Americans struggle with this double identity as W.E. B dubois wrote about....so we cannot hate america and say we are African and at the same time we cannot love america and hate Africa. Like Malcolm x said, "you cannot hate the roots of the tree and not hate the tree" ....so yes we say African American in the sense that yes I have an American passport legally...but there are bits and pieces of African culture in African American culture.. historically and culturally anytime black Americans start making any kind of progress towards African understanding or live a traditional life it's shot down ....so hedonism, overeating, drugs, is what is promoted

Modern Zulu have modern things too. They have their traditional equipment for celebrations and performances to help the economy with tourists, a version of their shields made with modern SWAT technology, as well as melee options of old European cultures, this is just for trying it out, recreation and looking cool, and they have cars for getting around.
Also they have modern guns incase they get into an actual fight. Usually against either terrorists or brigands.

I do appreciate those who still do keep their HOME teachings. Those who, despite their learnedness, have still bravely retained humility in order to advance livelihoods.
We must not fool ourselves . Respect is the carrying substance of a culture. Loose that , and the worth of any practice is nil.
