As someone who played the "less evil" version of the level: that antisoftlock is exactly as bad in both versions.
I think there might've been a pity death on like one of the later loops, but I definitely remember timing out way too many times trying to beat it.

I assume the difference is that, if you die at the "goodbye", it somehow re-gives you the ending?

my comment was mostly just a reaction to dave questioning in the video whether the anti's difficulty varied between versions of the level, which it didn't.
in that situation i would just wait out the timer as a big "screw you" to the creator of the level lol
You know its gonna be a good troll level when its 10 minutes in and Dave has almost all the red coins and there is still 26 minutes left

I'm waiting for the day when someone figures out how to stuff so much data into the checkpoint state that they can make you get the red coins 4+ times... I think 4 would be possible now, if they allowed the on-off state to actually be stored by a checkpoint, but I think they are using a contraption for this level that breaks if not loaded instantly, right?

This is singlehandedly THE MOST IMPRESSIVE Mario Maker level I've seen in my entire life.
It really hurts my brain figuring out how this insane level was made.
I don’t (can’t) understand it.
Something something red coins and different behaviour depending on whether you spawn at cp1 or cp2. For example, on the third time through the red coin at the entrance to the first room (with the loop and snowman) is not there (in the bit before where you throw shells, a shell collects it), so it allows one entity to spawn at the top right which changes how the room behaves.

What a fantastic Troll level!
So my guess is this: The shell you throw off screen at 31:12 is grabbing one of the last 3 pink coins you usually get at the end. So the third time going through the level you'll just (need to) get the last 2 before the key door.
But for the rest? Dang Bart, you did a superb job 🔥🔥🔥
Probably not, because there are no ways to get a shell in there from the sides, but there's a vertical tunnel in the extended part of the section at 25:30 with a key door at the top, that gives you a coin when you throw the shell
My guess is the Twisters give ya that one, which makes it so another entity can spawn in that world, so it changes how something interacts in a nearby area, most likely the ending
@@mr.thekid3827 Indeed, I see now how that area is connected. Doesn't make sense. The bottom pink coin is gone, so I can imagine it has something to do with the twisters indeed.
The sped up slider theme sounds SICK, especially when it's sped up both from the timer running out and it being fastforwarded!
