Wowgo 3X Broke, Warranty is a JOKE!

  • Ok, well the board broke. Things happen, I understand that. Bearings fail, crap happens. As you can see in the video Wowgo started out nice about it. Asking me what happened, asking if I was hurt, and calling me friend in the emails. Then they asked me to send them a list of damaged parts. This is where it went south. If you ask me what parts are damaged, I am going to tell you all of them. Small damage or large, I included a list of damaged parts.
    2 Wheels
    2 outer bearings
    2 inner bearings
    1 pully
    2 outer washers
    2 inner washers
    2 lock nuts
    Well, as you can see in the video after that the conversation changed.
    This is not the only problem with the board. I have decided not to pay Wowgo $40. I will be replacing the parts on my own and will continue the review. Spoiler alert, it is not looking good.

    Thank you for sharing your experience. It does suck to have your board broke. I bought 4 year old Evolve board and Evolve are nice in providing support. When I broke my remote and found that I cannot get a replacement anywhere; I asked if they have a broken one that I can scrounge for parts, they did just that and only charge me $5 ish for shipping. I think it’s safer to buy from a company that have local support. We do save a lot of money buying over seas but when something goes wrong, getting help is difficult.

    We will offer you a pair of wheels and the accessories that you need.
    And as for the problem at 6:58, the wobble is normal, when you put a whole set of things on it, that won't wobble.
    My colleague will send an email to you and tell you more details. Please check. Once more, We are sorry for the inconvenience caused. If you still have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

      WowGo I’m impressed. I’m glad to see your company is reaching out, a lot of these e-skateboard companies are just shutting out their buyers, (unless they would like to buy more) after they’ve made the sale. I just bought my own WowGo 3 from you guys on May 27 as kind of a birthday present for myself. I know because of Covid it will take a little while to get all the way here in Canada. But I can’t wait to go for a test-ride and use it for everyday commuting.

They will dick you around until your shit is over as far as warranty. This goes for Meepo. Hell all of them are horrible. China market is not so good here in USA. This is why every one loved Boosted. @@Ramatorix I just saw your new wheels on the board. Dude. I wouldn't deal with a company that treats customers like shit. Period. You have a good deck. And ok trucks. You could just build a bad ass board using their deck. Get some Caliber 2 trucks, bigger better motors and have a blast. Oh and motor mounts can be had off ebay, Amazon, or any company that does belt drives for e boards. I'm in the process of doing that to this Backfire G3 plus. Yeah. Battery went to shit inside of a 2 month period. Who woulda ever thought. But shit happens. Now a motor is going bad. Time to just build it like the 6 million dollar man. Make it stronger, faster, better. Lol. You know what I mean.

I used some locktite but the sounds is still there. Performance is not affected though. I already ordered New 97mm wheels and bearings. I will keep what you said in mind about the bearings. My next board will be a Backfire Zealot and Backfire has a service shop in LA so I don't have to deal with China drama. I would suggest throwing away the wowgo3x wheels away and get new wheels and bearings. That should do it. hope you get your board up and running. Stay safe bro.

The motor still has a low rattling sounds but nothing like it was earlier. I'm convinced it's just normal wear and tear of the belt motors. You can try tightening screws with locktite and installing the the Xtra pair of belts that came with the wowgo3x. This will get rid of most noises. I guess the belts that came with my board were loud and a little worn. Good luck 👍

    I'm in the same boat for a hub motor. Good to hear their hub motors are as sturdy as their belt system. Looks like a design flaw, not surprised. Hub motor is 70 bucks for a new one and they hit me with the 30 dollar donation for shipping. Here is what he said after troubleshooting. According to the warranty policy, we can send you a motor for free parts, you only need to pay the shipping fee of $30 US dollars. Could be just me but sounds like he will send me a used or not functional motor, for free parts. this is the second hub motor from wowgo in a year that failed with the same issue. I fixed two solder points on the other motor and it still didn't fix it. My Meepo AWD Pro exploded a ring clip inside the hub, probably due to overheating the part, and I explained to meepo that I essentially voided my warranty to have a look at the hub explaining that a ring clip exploded and if they could send me another clip or tell me the size. Within two or three emails they sent me a entire hub free of charge and it got here quick. Matter of fact I am still waiting for my other hub from wowgo which I purchased a month and a half ago which just got its second tracking number yesterday. Unfortunately their tracking site is in mandarin so it is useless to me. Its sounds strange but I should have just purchased another meepo awdpro for another hundred dollars rather than the wowgo3. It's just as slow and unreliable as my wowgo2. Boooooooooo

    I just happened to watch this old vid. I'm shocked to see a "Zealous" bearing fail in this way. I use them almost exclusively on all 5 of my boards I've never had an issue, they're always very smooth & roll forever. One of their best features besides being inexpensive & durable is the built in spacers & speed rings, although I usually use extra speed rings(washers). Not sure I can fault Wowgo on this one unless they somehow installed them incorrectly(not sure how they could've done that) or severely over-tightened the rear wheels? Which is what I suspect they did.

    • @Ramatorix
      @Ramatorix  Před 4 lety +1

      It was not the bearings fault. Wowgo only used 1 bearing in the wheel which caused side pressure on the bearing. That said pressure cause the bearing to fail. Because of the pulley desgin I can not run 2 bearings. It is a desgin flaw with wowgo.

    Hello, you or wowgo forgot the second bearing for the rear wheel, should be two bearings in the rear wheels as well plus the one in the pulley. Charging extra för sending boards these days with a fixed sum is fine given the very high prices of air shipping but of course not the same if you just send a few bearings. Mind you, problem is because the rear wheels had only one bearing installed.

    • @Ramatorix
      @Ramatorix  Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks for you comment. I might be wrong. But in the car world and everything i have researched on boards says that these bearings do not do well with side loads. When you tighten down the wheels nut without the spacers this puts a side load on the bearing. This causes the bearing to fail much faster. That is why on all skateboards you run a spacer between the bearings. To prevent a side load. But hey, if I am wrong then thats ok too. Take care and stay safe.

    were you riding when this happened? and did u get tossed from the board or were u safely able to come to a stop?
    and last question im sorry but do u periodically wipe and tighten up the nuts and bolts or is this your first time tightening and tuning up the board? reds has some banging bearings and get some of that speed lube it makes it so u can legit push kick and carry decent momentum or makes ur battery last much longer... also try losening up your belts a little bit, i noticed my board shipped with the belts super overtightened it would have done more harm than good if i left it as is and didnt repair it myself... anyways id love to know the details i fear the same thing now that i hit 100 miles on my wowgo3x... cheers,

    keep in mind, they're receiving your emails at 3am in their morning. I have no experience with Wowgo, but i have bought all my boards direct from China. My meepo mini hub motor developed a squeaky sound, I was concerned about the bearing so I reached out to meepo. They responded a day or so later requesting a video so they could assess the noise. 2 weeks later I had a new hub motor, shipping was $21.40. My second board (boundmotor) arrived with a damaged battery case, appeared as though the extra wheels came loose inside the box and became pinned below the board, crushing the case. I didn't ride the board, sent photos, then two weeks later I had a new battery case, shipping was around $23. So far my experiences have been great with dealing directly with overseas sellers so I'll continue to do so. For something like bearings, which is a consumable item, it's hard for anyone to really know if the failure was caused by user neglect, or manufacturing defect. Since both wheels were in a state of failure it kind of points to a lack of maintenance.
    as a rule I swap out my bearings to a trusted brand right away and keep the ones that come with the wheels in a junk drawer. Not enough value is placed in the importance of good bearings.

    Wow that's crap. What a major design flaw! that's recall material right there, who sells a board without a load-bearing spacer! the only time you'd get away with that is with a thrust bearing on a tapered shaft. Well done on getting to the bottom of the issue. Personally I'd take it to an engineering outfit, show them the issue and they will make a proper spacer plus they could fix the play with the first bearing by sorting the diameter of that shaft where its seated. No big deal for a competent engineer mate. Grab some decent bearings from a skate shop or something also, abec 7 or 9's maybe then take pictures of the modifications and the invoices and slap it back to wowgo proving how it should have been done the first time, suggesting they should reimburse you for R&d fixing their mistakes. Doubt they will but would feel good haha. Terrible behavior from Wowgo there. Good luck.

I explained the problem at length, told them they need 2 wheel bearings and shorten the center of the pulley by 1 to 2 mm. They told me it was like that to reduce noise. Im over wowgo and their crap customer service. Its a loaner board now to get people into the sport. I have moved on to better quality and performing boards.

    Hello again, just curious about one more thing about the wowgo. A part from the bearings/wheels I think you said in a recent video that the board is now dead. What else has happened? I know how you feel about wowgo and I totally understand but the wowgo AT2 has got fantastic reviews by so many now also long term. Also has a felly deck and smart turn on, what is your take if you have seen any of these reviews? It is very cheap compared to others and many parts are kind of generic like trucks, battery and HW ESC. Thanks

    • @Ramatorix
      @Ramatorix  Před 3 lety

      First thanks so much for the questions. So my wowgo only keeps a charge for about 1 mile now. It says 100% then at about a mile it will drop to 60% then just shut off. I reached out to wowgo and told them about the issue and I believe I was right at the end of the warranty. They had me remove the battery and check the sticker for water exposure. The sticker indicated it was water damaged. This was crap because I never rode it in the wet and I live in a dry climate. So I decided not to put any more money in it. I have seen the AT2 but wont buy one because I have a bad taste with wowgo. I think like verreal, if you buy it knowing you will not get support and just replace anything with aftermarket parts then you will be fine. As far as the reviews thats what made me buy mine. All great and positive reviews. I had a different experience lol. Hope this helps

      @@Ramatorix That type of scam was used a lot regarding damaged phones.. Bet it indicated water damage when it was new. I understand that puts you off wowgo. I do hear a lot of praise of exways support... I have had the Verreal RS, it was fine in most ways, did not like the rock hard deck much. Before I sold it I ordered a 45T pulley and belts for more torque, 8 weeks and I have not got them. You are one of the few that actually come back to a board with additional info after use, good and bad. I still think the wowgo AT2 may be a great board, I am sure many good people work hard at wowgo. One problem is that to sell their boards so cheaply they have to save a lot on support and warranty, also they take the cheapest shipping options to save money whereby it takes forever to get the boards. • @Ramatorix
      @Ramatorix  Před 4 lety +1

      They are cracks but it was do to the bearing getting sooooo hot and melting into the wheel. Then I had to pound the race out with a punch and hammer which added to the damage. The damage to the wheels was 100% because of the bearings. The front wheels are just fine.
