  • Nick Schiffer explains how the NS Builders team installed 8-inch solid hemlock beams in the living room to "fake" a gable roof design, detailing how the beams were attached to the framing above through anchoring and adhesive. He also shares how the beams aesthetic fits in with the rest of the home design.

Absolutely fantastic work from everyone involved. I can’t tell you how shocked I was when I saw the windows from the outside of the house. I hope to build something of this quality some day - even if it’s for myself only.

love the beams. I did a similar install ,very similar, during a major renovation of a 1794 home in CT. We used the old chestnut beams that were originally in the 1st floor 'floor' that was rebuilt using modern framing. Your project is quite is bit more elaborate. Look forward to the next video update.

Damn, those beams probably cost more than all the lumber in my house. Beautiful.

Looks really amazing! The only question I have is why didn't you use timber frame joints for beam trusses?

Hi, we are installing beams in our home also and they are solid, can you guide me to what kind of bracing I need to do before we install into the studs?
