    Hey y’all thanks for this great set of instructions! One thing missing was adding the washers when screwing the legs to the desk. It may be trivial but I’ll probably flip the desk back over to add them.

    11/22 A couple of things to add: 1) Out of the box your center rails have tightened set screws that need to be loosened to separate from the frame ends 2) There are rubber sound grommets in place, those are NOT washers which you still need to use when attaching desktop. The washers appear in the diagrams but NOT the written instructions so do add them above the grommet, below the screw as usual. Don’t over-tighten or you will split the grommet. 3) For each step definitely don’t tighten down till you have all screws started-some of the lineups with holes take a little finessing and you can’t always see the holes from the top 4) Yes the two wood screws for the hand set remain a total pain. I used a power screwdriver and still had trouble. Switched out a few wood screws out of the extras you are given and 2 were easier than the rest. If you do pre-drill make sure not to go through your table top or pick too big a drill bit. 5) A long foot is heavy so when attaching them to the lifting column by yourself easier to rest the foot on your legs in a chair to line up the 4 holes. Screwing on the diagonal first is good advice above. Or get a friend to help you with this step-the feet are heavy and lining up 4 machine holes not easy. 6) If you have chrome leveling glides on the feet they have blue plastic on to protect from scratching in transit. This is a lot easier to remove when table is upside down than when you have flipped it. Overall beautifully made, strong and very sturdy packaging with excellent labeling. The instructions could use a little tweaking to bring them up to date, ditto the video.

    Pro Tips for everyone “missing” a screw or unable to screw in the desktop:
    1) If you ordered a Fully Jarvis table top? The box has a (hidden) red baggie with 10 “Desk top machine screws”. Dig around. You’ll find it. You’ll use these to attach the desktop to the legs.
    2) If these screws are not long enough to thread the Jarvis desktop’s pre-drilled holes? You need to use a (not included) Hex Allen Wrench (#6) to back out the pre-drilled screw “anchors” (?) so they’re level with the desktop. All 10 of mine were over drilled (sloppy).
    3) Even with the correct screws & the predrilled anchors level with the desktop? Your screws will NOT catch if you use the washers included with the Fully Jarvis hardware box for the legs. Ignore the instructions. Do not use them. Fully now uses pre-inserted silicon washers on the legs. So it appears the metal washers are no longer needed.
    ^ Why the fuck isn’t this info given to customers upfront (via updates instructions and a new tutorial)? Thanks for wasting so much of my time today Fully.

      Hey there! We're sorry that you had a frustrating assembly experience. Our friendly support team is always happy to walk customers through it in real-time via phone or chat. The goal is to provide a streamlined process that is easy to follow and we apologize for missing the mark.
      1. We're glad you noted that our desks ship with 2 sets of hardware - one in frame box two and one with the desktop. We include the desktop hardware separately since the specifications differ depending on the desktop material. Thank you for letting us know this could be made more visible in the assembly instructions.
      2. We offer our sincere apologies that all 10 of the metal inserts were too deeply recessed. If the metal insert isn’t flush with the surface, the screw won’t engage the thread and will instead appear to ‘spin’ around without attaching. We're happy you were able to back them out to get your workstation assembled.
      3. Washers help reinforce the noise attenuation grommets. Through our testing, we've found they improve the overall functionality of the desk by prolonging the life of the noise attenuation grommets.
      Thank you for providing this input. We'd love the opportunity to connect with you further and offer a free Jarvis accessory as an accommodation. When you have a moment, please email us at support@fully.com with "Communication Team" in the subject line.

  • @mnhoff
    @mnhoff Před 3 lety +13

    Glazed over some key steps, would be great if you mentioned:
    - to watch for rubber washers being torn out of the frame end during handling
    - that which mounting bracket is attached to which side bracket decides where the handset will ultimately go (hint: look where the control box attaches)
    - that the washers should be used when attaching the frame assembly to the desk top (as everyone discussed below)
    Budget ~2 hours to get it done (recommend to use manual along with this video). Anyone who claims they can do it has either done this before, is a fancy pants, and/or a show-off :D

      100% Sir.
      It would have been better to state that the first H shaped panel should be on the side of the control box, rather than suggesting that this was related to the the two metal "F/G - Left or Right Side Bracket" mounts.
      Note that the control box should “lock” onto the capture plate (maybe call it a “control box mounting plate”?). This is obvious but it’s worth stating as it took several aggressive attempts.
      Also, there's no way that I will screw the long "L - Wood Screw" to mount the control box as it appears to be the same depth as the desk, and the hole is too small. Find a better way - I'm going to use sticky tack or get two smaller wood screws from a Hardware Store. (I’ve read the article support.fully.com/hc/en-us/articles/1500009643321-How-do-I-attach-my-handset-to-the-desktop- from the comments below, and I think that they should just give us better screws.)
      It’s worth stating that the dangling yellow cable that is left over plugs into the extension cable (quite obvious, but it is missed out). I’m also left wondering what the ‘P’ socket does on the Control Box, and whether I’ve missed something.
      You'd think that it would cost very little to work this feedback into the PDF or the video. The narration could be changed or popup text could be added to the video quite easily.

    • @FullyUs
      @FullyUs  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Brendan! Here are some helpful tips and tricks for attaching the handset:
      1. Try using a power screwdriver to leverage some additional force; it’s normal for the screw to slightly displace the plastic in the handset slots as you’re tightening it down
      2. You can also use a 1/8" drill bit to deepen the pilot hole, which should allow the wood screw to connect all the way. Just be sure to mask off the thickness of the desktop on the drill bit before doing this so that you don’t accidentally drill through the top.
      3. If you have any extra metal washers, try putting those between the wood screw and handset.

    The wood screws provided don't screw in all the way with the pre-drilled holes. It will get maybe 2 or 3 full rotations with about 80% of the screw not being able to screw all the way in the pre-drilled holes (which makes the handset just a jiggly janky mess lol). I thought I was just being a weak boi and decided to switch to a drill, but that ended up damaging the pre-drilled holes I think. The screw is slightly bigger than the slot and the pre-drilled pilot holes so it will require some additional downward force (aka “elbow grease”) to twist the screw through the slot and into the desktop.
      If you’re having difficulty with this, here are some tips and tricks:
      -Try using a power screwdriver to leverage some additional force; it’s normal for the screw to slightly displace the plastic in the handset slots as you’re tightening it down
      -You can also use a 1/8" drill bit to deepen the pilot hole, which should allow the wood screw to connect all the way. Just be sure to mask off the thickness of the desktop on the drill bit before doing this so that you don’t accidentally drill through the top.

    Isn't this guy the voice from "RegularCars"??? Cool ... I do enjoy those!
    Nevertheless, I purchased one of these Fully Jarvis desks and I can't say that I'm terribly impressed. First of all, the overall product design is anything but elegant. It's unnecesarily difficult and time-consuming to assemble (particularly in my case as the little red bag of fasteners was missing and I had go buy some M6 machine screws). It doesn't have the brilliance of, say, an Ikea design where the assembly often includes some really clever moves (although obviously the quality is better than Ikea!). The wires have to be routed inelegantly, and overall the Jarvis desk has the feel of something that has been designed by a committee. The fact that the supports come all the way out to the sides of the desk makes it impossible to install a clamp for a lamp/ mic./ etc. ... that's just not thoughtful design The touch screen on the handset is very slow to respond. I also get the feeling that this company is a very early startup, as they seemed to have endless difficulties getting the proper packages to me.
    All that being said, once you do manage to get it built it's a good desk and pretty stable, although once you get above about 36" it does get noticeably wobbly front to back.

I know this isn't the highest budget of series but it could be better. Also the characters, while we'll played by their respective actors, lacked emotion and were hard to sympathize, but frankly that seems more like an issue with the scripting team not being fully in sync with the story and characters but who's really noticing.
