    You said exactly what I was thinking about visiting the smaller/more remote towns. I think watching you go to those little shops and restaurants would be super cool. That's one of the things about my Japan trip coming up that I'm really excited for, going off the beaten track to explore and take in the smaller town vibe. As always super happy that you put this video out! Got to enjoy a nice train ride while completing some work.

    It has been 16 months since we've been able to travel to Kyushu,,,miss it so much....in Kyushu we like to spend a night in Shmabara, Kumamoto, Kagoshima, a visit to Aoshima and a few nights in Nagasaki...etc...etc

    Japan has so many amazing trains. Of course the Shinkansen and the good regular train services. But also a lot of special trains: scenic trains, historic trains, themed trains etc. For a train lover this country offers so much to see and ride.

    I was in Japan a couple of years ago, and used the train a number of times. Very easy to navigate the system in Japan, and so on time every time we used the train for travel.

    What a colourful seats and that toilet! Beautiful shiny blue. Must admit, fell asleep halfway while watching the video. Not because it’s boring but you took me in a 3D kind of surreal train ride, ShinZen. What a realm 🙏🏼

    Ahh, it's been a while since I visited Kyushu last. It's a good looking region. Should probably visit again someday.
    Fond memories of Kurokawa, Kumamoto, Kagoshima, Takeo-onsen, Miyazaki, Yufuin, and Hirado. And many other places too 🥰

    Shinichi I LOVED this one. More long train video please! One of my fondest memories of visiting Japan was looking at all of the cities while sipping tea (or beer) on the train.

    I stayed in Beppu and the sulphur smell was strong at the hot springs. We could wear our kimono outside the room. So yes to train trips and hot springs. Cheers.

    Yep, pretty much like the train rides we have here in Ontario, Canada. Mile after mile of watching light industrial buildings and old apartment buildings pass by. Oddly soothing.

      well I agree that this looks much like southern Ontario - I took the train regularly while working on my Masters degree in Toronto - seeing the same same scenery twice weekly gets boring in a hurry - I just got a coffee and did my hmwk - would not have been able to do that had I taken the bus 🙄

    aw man,
    Huis ten Bosch, got so many stories about this themepark myself haha
    When I went for the first time, it felt so strange, for the record I live in The Netherlands myself,
    To see the typical Dutch Landmarks in Japan was such a strange feeling haha
    To give an Example, To see the Domtoren from Utrecht in Japan in smaller form or the the square from Gouda in Japan.
    It felt a little bit like home in Japan lol :P

    Thanks for the video! To answer the question about hot springs, yes definitely! It would be nice if you could show some hot springs in rural areas that are still easy to get to by train. I went to a hot spring in Gunma prefecture a number of years ago and I had to drive a car to get to it due to the location. Driving in Japan is fine, but I'd prefer travelling by train any day!!

    I missed this direct train last time I went to Huis Ten Bosch from Hakata. I had to take the Midori Express from Hakata to Haiki, and then transfer to the Sea Side Liner from Haiki to Huis Ten Bosch

    I could hear by the sound of the train, this was in the "60hz/60cycle" side of Japan, the electricity has a higher pitch there.
    The 50hz side of tokyo has a different electricity sound/hum!
