    Have a real deadline that you have to deliver for a client and you’ll be amazed how much you can focus. Problem is most solo entrepreneurs creating something from scratch don’t have a deadline.

      Spot on.
      A lot of times, the absence of constraints is what makes productivity difficult to unlock.
      Whenever I'm working on something that has an uncompromising deadline due to influences out of my direct control, I can work for hours non-stop.
      Deadlines are necessary constraints for achieving deep focus.
      The key is to impose uncompromising deadlines with grave penalties when working on personal projects.

    8hrs of actual production work every single day is crazy. Most top CEOs get max 3-4. Everyone wants your time on bullshit things I don't even see how it's possible to get 8? Maybe once in a while but definitely not sustainable every day

    Interviews can add a shade to a reality, and you can see how Sam is processing this answer - going from 20 hours to 8 hours to comparing with folks that are going at 16 hours. It feels like the question is poking at his effectiveness at focusing, and he is reacting to it. Makes me think of this like a job interview - I'm always going to put my best foot forward. Maybe its too personal? E.g. thinking about how other CEOs are doing with deep focus?

    Work 18 hours in a day like your life depends on it and you're going to build something. You're not going to get more done in less time by taking cold showers or meditating. Do the damn thing and don't half ass it.

      There is half of the truth . The effectiveness of your time also important.

    • @wolfmode69
      @wolfmode69 Před 3 měsíci +1

      This is true to some degree. People focus on all these exterior habits like cold showering for example to teach themselves to do something difficult when they don't feel doing it, when they could simply do the act, like working on the actual thing itself.
