    I depend on your reviews. They’re thorough and give info that helps me discriminate between lines. Thank you so much!

    Lindsay, just a heads up- many people with fine motor control and neurological issues (for example: I have Spina Bifida, and can't always feel tactile feedback in my hands) have to use chisel tips over brush simply because there's no guessing game as far as "pressing down" on the chisel nib- chisel nibs are almost always firm, so it's much easier for some of us with neuro issues in our hands to control and work a chisel marker than one with a bouncy brush nib. All my brush markers sit unused- I either mash them down too far or I can't gauge what pressure to use them with as my nerves aren't working properly to register the physical feedback as I use the marker against the surface of the paper (hope that makes sense). I get a ton of physical, tactile feedback with the chisel nib- i can feel it gliding across the paper and can vary my pressure accordingly. So thank you for highlighting the chisel nib on these markers (just got my review set today, am excited to try them now!), and know that there are some of us out here who would absolutely pay more for a marker with an upgraded chisel nib.

      @@thefrugalcrafter Thanks, Lindsay! I always feel the brush markers would be so much fun to use, especially with the variations in line it gets (*swoon*) but then I get them and it's, like, "SQUISH" and then "splat" (unless they are the super firm fiber ones...). So Chisel it is! :)

    I bought the set of brush markers (not enhanced line) after watching you mention them in the last unboxing video and oh man. I am so impressed with these. The price point is outstanding and I have had no problems blending or putting color down. For someone like me who enjoys adult coloring books and art journaling these make way more sense as an investment of sorts over Copics.

    Yay! Markers! I was always curious about whether I would enjoy working with markers, and a little while ago I finally got a little pack, just to try them out. I never really wanted to use markers in the past because of the loads of plastic and because all this caps on and off business seems so annoying, but watching you combine markers with all sorts of other media is what convinced me that I should give them a chance. I got the Marabu Sketchmarkers and a blender from my art supply dealers store brand, and this was not really the ideal way to start (only 12 colors, no brush tips) but it gave me a basic little idea of what alcohol markers are like. Didn't really like it at first because it was a difficult start with this little set, but now I kind of got the hang of it and it's so much fun. I ordered a set of brush tip markers by Ohuhu that should arrive here on wednesday, and I am really looking forward to that. It's just a 24 set, so I can check out whether I like those before I invest in a large set, but the color selection looks pretty good, so I think I'll be able to do quite a bit with that small set. And these Artify markers look really good, too. I think brush is probably better for me than chisel, but whereas I really disliked the chisel nibs at first, after practicing with them for a while I think they are not all that bad. I just looked up Artify markers and I see that they are really affordable on Amazon here, so I might just end up getting some of those as well. My husband is already worried that this new marker thing will lead down the same path as watercolors and color pencils. 😅

    Nuvo did use to make a marker with a similar tapered shape, they recently rebranded (I guess or re-released? ) the markers in a more conventional/traditional rectangular barrel... words are hard... great review, as always. I'm not in the market for more markers but love watching you 😊

    I got the Artify 108 brush set a while ago based on your review and am really liking them. I'm fairly new to alcohol markers and had thought I'd get a cheap set to learn and move up in quality as my ability improved. Now I have to say I have no plans to upgrade - just buy Altenew inks / nibs as replacements are needed. I don't know that I'd ever need this set but if I did I'd definitely feel good about buying this brand again

      You made a good choice. I still feel like i am missing something with these. I don't know if the enhanced quality is the marker body or chisel nib. I prefer the brush version still.

    What is the best nib for brush markers? Which nibs are most similar to Copic?

    • @thefrugalcrafter
      @thefrugalcrafter  Před 2 lety +1

      Blick studio brush marker, art n Fly, altenew, sketchmarker, winsor &Newton, prismacolor arteza and spectrum noir brush markers have the foam rubber nibs like copic. Bianyo used to but 8m not sure how as they changed the marker body.

    I believe that companies name things based on market research! I don’t see anything enhanced about those markers either! You are so balanced with your reviews and much kinder than I might be. But that’s why your a successful youtuber and I am just a semi-retired Artist. I say semi as if you are truly an Artist you can never stop creating or trying to create if your having physical challenges at the moment. Lovely video Lindsay Thank You.

      Thanks! I still wonder if I am missing something on these tho. The chisel is unique and the body shape is different but as for user experience I am not seeing an advantage over the cheaper brush.

    Hi Lindsay, I bought this set but the small one for 25 dollars for 40 markers in a plastic container. I really like what you had to say on this review and plus I am new to art so this is a good bargain for me as I can try them out and use this medium whenever I want to. I hope you get credit for it though its not the big size. I also bought the Kuratake colors to try. I am going to try all these art supplies that I have bought through paletteful packs and Amazon during my winter break. I never realize how fun art can be..I am so happy I found your channel and have switched over to art history! Happy Holidays

    I’ve barely used the markers I spent way too much on years ago. I used the Bics and Sharpies for a year or so, and saved up for a single 6-pk of Copic Sketchs. Then later I bought Blicks and some off-brand ones. And I never really used them cause by then I was kinda over alcohol markers. I used to print images with my laser printer onto cardstock then color - I don’t have a lot of stamps, and my inks not that great. Plus I’m a messy stamper.

    I love that no matter how many markers you review, you always make it fresh. These have some clean pastels. Nice. The bear stamp is way too cute :-). The new markers have a nice chisel tip, but I would never opt again for chisel over brush tip. I love the box.

    Right now (12-06-21) all of Artezas 36 sets of Everblend Ultra Brush markers are on sale for $33! I don't think there are any duplicates in these 3 sets (Floral, Deco, and Tropical) I bought the Tropical set, my first alcohol markers ever, and checked this set against the other 2 and there are no duplicates. Also, all the other sets except maybe the Gray's are included in these 3 sets. So, for around $100 you get 108 brush markers with the foam rubber nibs (I checked!)
    Now I need to figure out what paper to use. Help!!

    • @phasedjade_RGB
      @phasedjade_RGB Před 2 lety

      Any marker paper brand is good because it doesn’t allow the markers to completely saturate the paper and waste ink and marker paper allows for less bleed through for alcohol based markers.. some good brands are Ohuhu marker paper, bianyo marker paper and Arteza. Ohuhu also has great marker pad “sketch” books as well. I also use my markers in the ILLO sketchbook too. Some mixed media paper is also okay for wet media and it usually states “mixed media paper for wet and dry media” hope that helps :)

      I tried them on some Strathmore Bristol Smooth and on the Strathmore Visual Journal mixed media. Both seem to suck up tons of ink, especially the mixed media paper.
      Fun Fact: the Strathmore Visual Journal mixed media paper is 100% cotton but their watercolor paper is not. It's cellulose. Weird.

    Quick question, can one use a refill plus a refill, mixed somehow in a bowl, to form a new colour, and syringed inside an empty colourless blender? I have no clue, not a marker person!
