@@cheemster2619 rabbits are actually the most robust exotic pets (for mammals at least), rabbit medicines is pretty advanced compared to other exotics and they endure it pretty well most of the time (where guinea pigs almost always die when hospitalized (i exaggerate but you see the point))
One thing I remember from having both a rabbit and a guinea pig in the past, if they're allowed to run around in your home, even when supervised, definitely make sure all cables are up out of the way where they can't reach. Or better yet, find a way to completely block the little furry one from getting near them at all. And make sure anything you don't want to risk being nibbled on is up higher or blocked off. They seem to like the smell of certain types of rubber casings used on the wires of common household electronics. I remember when I was little and, even while he was being watched, my rabbit somehow managed to get ahold of the cable for a portable stereo and chomped straight through it. Thankfully it was unplugged. But it literally happened in the blink of an eye.
Yes, they will bite clean through a wire with ease. Luckily ive only ever had them do this with headphone wires (but very annoying to have to keep buying headphones...)
Someone dumped two pet rabbits outside of my apartment in the snow like 15 years ago so we took them in while we contacted an animal shelter. We already had cats, no proper space for rabbits and they were both terrified of humans so we kept them in the second bathroom and ended up having to replace all of our hair dryers/curlers/straighteners.
former rabbit owner! Setup looks pretty nice, especially with that giant playpen. Someone already said this, but putting her food bowl near her litter box may be an incentive to get her to use that. I used a modified cat litterbox (cut/sanded down one side, wasn't sharp, since she was too short, and the box was too tall) w/ specific rabbit litter for mine that actually worked quite well. Rabbits are such precious pets!
hi! i own two rabbits, so here's some tips from experience: - keep the hay in a feeder above the litterbox, NOT in the bed area. rabbits often do their business while eating, so it'll help with litterbox training. - ditch the water bottle. it doesn't give the rabbit enough water, it's much better and natural for them to drink out of a bowl. - get her spayed/neutered! i can't stress how important this is. unspayed female rabbits can develop a false pregnancy, rip out their fur to make a nest... it's better to avoid such stress and possible health problems. - for the toys, avoid the artificially colored ones if possible. cardboard is an awesome choice, but i wouldn't recommend the colored ones. you can also try offering her sticks collected outside, but make sure to research what wood is safe for bunnies. my own buns also enjoy these stacking cups for kids where you stack them by size - you can put treats between the cups! - make sure to research the diet as much as you can. for example, rabbits shouldn't eat beans, peas, nuts, cabbage, corn, onions and avocado. no grains or human food either. - rabbits can be incredibly destructive. you'll need to get creative with bunny-proofing your house, protecting the cables, and blocking off certain spaces. even if you feel like your rabbit isn't interested in certain items and won't chew them... trust me, they can change their mind at any time. i hope i could help at least a little
If you can potty train her and rabbit proof the cables/furniture, she definitely could free roam. I have two free roamers at my place. It is important to make sure the bedroom door is closed cause they will wake you up in the middle of the night with some binkies
Congrats on the bun! I heard that European wild rabbits share the same species as domestic rabbits, unlike cottontails in America. That could explain why she's so tame and why people are able to keep them.
Yes, European rabbits and domestic rabbits are the same species, except for the fact that domestic rabbits are a subspecies because they’ve been domesticated! She was most likely a part of a feral population.
Also for context, if Bezel starts to gobble up the whole pellets, be sure to limit the numbers of pellets since they are super high in fat! Some rabbits might eat as many pellets as they want and won’t stop.😂 And when she’s an adult, a small percentage of her diet will be pellets, so be careful. Also for veggies, romaine lettuce, spinach, basil and healthy spring mixes are very good for vitamins and minerals but ONLY in moderation since over feeding will result with serious gut problems.
Rabbits are social animals, they can be solitary as long as you spend a lot of time with them, but it’s much better for them to have a buddy. Edit: Thank you everyone in the replies for educating me! It definitely does depend on the species, and I’m not familiar with the type of rabbit Soda has. I just have two domestic rabbits that I keep together.

@yms4355 Rabbits are not herd animals! They only get along if they're spayed/neutered. They're highly territorial by nature and do not enjoy the company of other rabbits. It's been proven that wild rabbits only live in warrens out of necessity. When provided with adequate resources and decreased predator pressure, the burrows get further and further away from eachother. Even fixed "bonded" pairs have a high likelihood of falling out and often partake in highly dominance-related activities such as agressive grooming, chasing, and humping.
everything looks pretty good, except the water bottle! with a water bottle, your rabbit will be very dehydrated. I would 100% recommend getting a big ceramic bowl instead. your bun is so cute!
Hi, also have rabbits and I really like what you are doing. Rabbits are, like cats, very clean animals. To get her to pee in her toilet, you have to collect the smell with paper towels and put it in the toilet and wipe up the places she peed on and cover them with another smell. Plus it would be more natural for her to drink water from a bowl. Rabbits do not get enough fluids from water bottles. You can use a waterproof puppy mat as a base as she probably step in it at first.
Vet tech and rabbit owner here! I’m sure you’ll take great care of her but I did want to say a couple things that might help you out. The urinating in her bed may improve on its own with time. Rabbits are very territorial and urine and feces is part of that marking behavior. As she gets more comfortable with her territory she will likely go in one spot, so put her box there. Only put hay in the box as well to encourage her. Also, if it’s not on your radar yet she should be spayed when she’s old enough. This helps with hormonal attitudes, marking and with prevalence of uterine cancer. Unspayed female rabbits are highly likely to get cancer, even when still young (like 5 years old, it’s so sad). I’m not sure about rabbit hemorrhagic disease in your country, but it is spreading in the USA. It’s very deadly and quick to spread. Thankfully there is a vaccine, definitely talk to your rabbit savvy vet. Also, you should get some young rabbit pellets. They are made with alfalfa and more calorie dense for growing buns than the adult pellets that are usually made with Timothy hay. Good luck rabbit proofing, my bun is free roaming and it’s sometimes trial and error. They are smart, mischievous fuzzies. I hope this help and I’d be happy to help any way I can. She’s adorable!
Thanks that you've already mentioned it. It's really important Information. I've had 2 Rabbits approximately 12 Years ago, both female and both of them died very young. Not sure what was the Cause of Death, but maybe it could've been prevented😕

She looks like a domestic feral or a hybrid. The “wild” rabbit populations in Australia and New Zealand are the same species as domesticated rabbits, just haven’t been selectively bred as much. She isn’t truly wild, which is illegal to possess in most countries. Also just a heads-up, and you’ll find this online too, that we feed alfalfa moreso than timothy hay until the rabbit is about ~7 months old. Especially since she’s not getting added calcium from the adult rabbit pellets (as opposed to juvenile rabbit pellets), she could really use the alfalfa hay to supplement bone development!
@@sodapetsEuropean Rabbits ARE wild! They're just not the same species as wild cottontails (Sylvilagus) or Jackrabbits (Lepus) that we see in the US. European Rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) were domesticated thousands of years ago to create the rabbits we have today (Oryctolagus cuniculus domesticus) however there is still entirely wild populations in Europe and invasively in a few other places (like NZ.) Her white markings could potentially suggest that there was a feral domestic in her lineage, however it's also entirely common for white snips and stars on any species of rabbit. Most are born with stars or "milk spots" and molt them out in their first molt. However a decent amount keep them to adulthood.

The BEST CZcamsr to watch would be "The Pig Room" the guy he started getting into rabbits and has 2 and even had some give birth when rescuing some...but anyway I would DEFINITELY reach out to him he has a shop where you can buy bunny safe food and toys. But he does live in American and I don't know how the shipping would be....if not he can definitely still help by giving some advice to help you out. I adore that CZcamsr so much and he gives out so much of what to do and not do and so forth. I 100% trust this guy and would advise you to give him a try and a listening ear!

Ok so some things that might help your litterbox situation (so sorry this is so long lol): - Using a hay bag/hay rack as you mentioned. I got mine on etsy (which probably makes it hard in NZ), but somebody crafty could probably look at the designs on there and make something for you. My buns won't eat hay they've peed on, so I never put hay inside the litterbox, just over the litterbox in a rack or bag. It encourages them to get completely in the box to eat their hay and therefore to do their business in the box. Before you get a bag, I'd reccomend just piling the hay to the far side of the litterbox so that the rest of the box has only a thin coating of hay to encourage her to hop in the box. - In my opinion, litterbox looks a little small for her size. I would get a bin big enough for two of her to fit inside comfortably and turn around. You can repurpose one of those under the bed storage bins if you can't find something sold as a litterbox that is the correct size. When I had a litterbox that my rabbit "fit" in like this, she would pee over the edge. higher sides would help too, especially if you are wanting to put hay in the bottom. - My rabbits seem to actually prefer a grate over their litterbox so they don't have to step directly in their pee/poop (they go so much so often that you would have to empty the box multiple times a day, which isn't feasible). Wire flooring is hated on a lot in the pet rabbit world, but it's perfectly safe as long as the gauge/spacing of wire is ok and it gets cleaned regularly, especially when only used for the litterbox and not their entire living space. - Cleaning everything that has been peed on super well, reorganizing her crate area, and placing the litterbox where she was peeing the most before. You may have to remove the blankets, some rabbits will always pee on soft fabrics for some reason. - You may need a second litterbox for when you let her out to give her a more attractive pee spot when she's out - Some rabbits don't completely litterbox train until they're spayed Also, because you are feeding an adult rabbit food, I'd suggest either switching to junior/young pellets or getting some alfalfa if you have access to it. Baby bunnies need substantially more calcium than adults (rabbits metabolize calcium poorly so too much can cause bladder stones, but baby bunnies are still growing and need much more).
Move the hay bin in the corner she was using, that worked for my rabbits previously. You can also move droppings into it to give it the smell she'd see as familiar in a litter box, it tricks them a little.
You should try a bowl for water, it's more natural to bunnies and they drink as much as small dogs. Hay in one place will help littertrain her. She's adorable!

I would use a water bowl as a tip ,its easier to clean and always has fresh water(its also easier on their necks) .i would make sure it is heavy tho because mine likes to dig at the bowl ....Timothy hay is the best for them and temu has great toys for cheap if you are able to on the site...baby rabbits will go thro toys constantly.. Also cat scratching board with pellets coming out will help keep them teeth down and its fun for them to do
Mine rabbit ate my crocs and my wallpaper be carefull with cables too my mom wraps my bunny into a little bonito sometimes and then he falls asleep it's adorable He loves it he also runs after my cat who is super scared of him
I think your setup and care is really nice! The most important thing for a rabbit is a partner though! So you definately need a second one, no matter how much time you spend with her. Rabbits are super social animals that groom each other, snuggle a lot and even need to eat a special kind of poop from an other rabbit to be healthy. You're such a great pet keeper, so I'm sure you'll do your reserach on that! 😊 And yes, they poop where their hey is, so put the toilet under it. You eo not need Pellets for feeling, hey, vegetables, leaves and herbs are best! My last rabbits got 13 years old with this diet!!
definitely switch her water bottle for a bowl when you get the chance. they don’t provide enough water for a day and they are very unreliable and unnatural
I love Lennon I learned most of my stuff from her when I got my rabbit 11 years ago and I still have her and the memory's the rabbit can given unfortunately we can't free roam her because I have tons of fish tabk cords and a cat that runs around

It’s so cute Btw your set up is not bad as a rabbit owner my self it’s a descent set up and sense it’s more of a wild rabbit I would recommend putting out a descent sized play pen with a roof and no bottom and put it outdoors so she can some grass that’s an idea tho another thing I 100% recommend for new rabbit owners i recommending dig if your wondering what a dig box is also so know as a treat box it’s ware you get some rabbit treats and some small card board and paper scraps and put them in a box you can throw some Timothy hay in there for good measure and spread the treats around the box then put the small bits of paper and cardboard in the box and then place it in the cage so the rabbit can dig around in it too find the treats like how they would dig around for food in the wild. Anyways that’s some tips I recommend for new rabbit owners.

I was just appreciating my bunny earlier. So happy to see this!! Bunnies are insanely intelligent and affectionate when given a chance. My bunny would defend me from my abusive foster father by attacking his feet, and whenever I'm down he comes to snuggle up with me. He's super sweet and affectionate. He showers even strangers in kisses! He understands A LOT of Finnish AND English and is an angel when taking medicine. He's basically perfect. He also loves belly rubs 🥰 He's turning 11 years old this year!!! In a way he's a rescue bun. I met him when I was put into the foster home. They didn't take good care of him and his girlfriend and kept them in a relatively small cage and didn't give them attention. Sadly, his girlfriend passed away because of their refusal to take her to the vet until it was too late. He became super depressed and sick. I gad to go out to buy the medicine on my own. Me and my bun became super close as a result of that. I'm always happy to see bunnies given a chance and reacued. They're rains of sunshine. We really don't deserve them ❤
I am so glad to see this. I live on a lot of lane and my dog constantly catches baby rabbits. I had no idea they could be happy at all as a pet. I would release the babies back into a yard my dog couldn’t get in, but it would always worry me still.

im a rabbit owner of 4 years and a big help to me was etsy, theres so many cool things on there for enrichment! i like the snug-a-bun beds, flavored bulsa blocks, rabbit safe teas/treats, and cardboard or wooden houses! theres so many cool diy projects too!
also! if shes not already spayed i would 1000% recommend that, it lowers the risk of uterine cancer/reproductive health issues, as well as reduces overpopulation if she comes in contact with a male! not to mention the litter training part is SO much easier!
OK last comment, i also love making dig boxes! fill a box with different types of hay, forage, toys, shredded paper, cardboard tubes, and treats and she will spend hours digging through the box for all the fun stuff!
In terms of hidey houses, all of our rabbit’s except one are made of big cardboard boxes. We’ve cut a hole on one side and one on another side since wild bunnies like their burrows to have multiple entrances in case one hole gets blocked. Our bunny also chews on her box houses, which is great because it distracts her from chewing other things!
Another informative channel is "The Pig Room". He started his channel focus on Guinea Piggies and then started unexpectedly acquiring buns in his rescue journey so he has actually started a line and sells small animal safe products that maybe you could get shipped to you! I'm not sure about ordering, as I don't have small pets in my home atm. Hope this helps
Oh, I forgot to add. His line has several "brain buster" type bun toys that stimulate their "need" for finding food(it's important to implement at least one of these toys in their daily toy access and trade them out often to prevent boredom, especially in young rabbits). Rabbit can’t get hydration as easily from a bottle, so water bowls would be a better option, especially since they drink the same way as your dog or cat.
Hi 👋🏼 she is soo cute , your settup looks good , you could get a haybag to hang on the enclosure bars overtop of the litter box , also I wanted to say that bottles are not good for their water and a bowl works better for their posture and prevents dehydration ( a heavy bowl is better so she doesn’t flip it over) 😊 I personally use Timothy hay and my bunny loves it ! My bunny loves romaine lettuce , parsley , dill and i also give fruits for treats 🐇 I used the pellets as treats and supplements, but he gets a table spoon in the morning and sometimes at night too and a cup of mixed veggies / lettuce 🥬 morning and at night 😊
Keep all Hay just to the litter tray and feet pellets next to it as well. Rabbits tend poop while they eat, so if the littertray has all rhe food they will take to it very quickly normally!
I’m in the uk - My sister in law had a wild rabbit which she rescued as a baby, sadly the rabbit passed away a few months ago now, but she lived until she was 9 years old! so tame and loved to snuggle up with you, never met a rabbit as loving as her ❤
I had rabbits for many years as a kid and teen, my last bunny Momo died 10 years ago when I was 20. We always used wood shavings for the litter box, here in Germany it's sold pressed for that purpose. When establishing a new litter area, putting some pee soaked wood shavings there helps. My rabbits always loved eating freshly cut branches (obviously make sure that the plant is safe for them first). The rabbits were allowed to free roam in my parent's garden for a few hours every day and Momo loved biting off flowers 😂

Rabbit owner here! Lovely bunny ❤️❤️She looks def tamed compared to wild ones but still has the same energy level. My best friend used to have a bunny with similar coat pattern but hers was definitely a domesticated bunny. If she keeps using a single spot for potty then you can change the litter box’s location to that, monitor her when she’s using it. Whenever she made a mistake, drop the poop in the litter box or clean the pee with a tissue and put it in the litter, then clean the mistake area with white vinegar and water solution to remove the scent. By doing this repeatedly your bun will find her right place to use the potty! Hope this helps!
Putting hay in her bed is probably why she peed there. I’ll sometimes put hay in a bag for some enrichment but definitely keeping the hay in the litter box is the best way to get her to pee in her litter box and definitely remove any wires. She will most probably chew on them! (The guitar cord and a charger I noticed)

I had one that looked just like her, she came from a breeder but a wild rabbit had made his way into the moms enclosure so she was half wild 😂 Mom was a blue eyed white so my girl looked exactly like Basil but she had blue eyes. I called her Blue because I was an unimaginative child 😂 she was very sweet but never became as tame as my other rabbits were, still loved her to bits. 💜
I used to own rabbits and i honestly have to disaggree with most people here :/ I dont think this is a good setup for a young energetic bunny. Usually i ignore stuff like this but i believe that u would act in your bunns best interest, because u always take good care of ur pets! 1. Bunnies should not be kept alone, in germany, where i live no responsible breeder, rescue or vet would ever let someone keep a bunny alone. I realize that in different parts of the world people have different standards, but shoudnt we strive for whats best for our pets? To think that ur bunny only needs u as social contact to be happy honestly is worng u are a human and will never be a subsitute for another bunny. Also even if u would be a substitute, u are not there 24/7. 2. That pen is not big enough. Someone in the comments called it giant? Really brakes my heart... Would u keep a cat in such an enclosed area? Or a dog? Maybe for an hour or two but not for the majority of the day right? For me to be able to adopt a bunny i needed to ensure i had an absolute minimum of 6qm of free roaming space 24/7, otherwise the rescue here would not even consider me as a bunny owner. U did mention that u are planning to make ur bunn roam free, and thats good, but i do think that it is irresponsible to get an animal without beeing able to give them the bare minimum of space from the start. Please try to be open minded on this and dont just do the absolute bare minimun, but try to give ur pet the best life possible, they cant fight for their own needs and wants, so we have to do it for them.
I got 4 cats alongside my bunny and I still don't recommend having a predator animal with a bunny without supervision unless they were raised with bunnies from a young age (my cats all were). Even then, depending on the predator animal and the bunny in question it can be risky, so I praise you for not leaving them unsupervised!
I haven't seen the whole video yet but a good way to get your bunny to pee on the spot you want, as far as I experienced with mine, is to also give them water and hay in that area. Definetly get rid of the waterbottle, it's uncomfortable to use and completly unnessescary, just put a bowl into the toilet area. It might have to be bigger, ofc. I put biological aspen shaving in the litter box and give them hay in one of the corners they don't use to pee. Bunnies tend to go to the toilet next to where they eat. You can get rid of the pellets, the way pellets absorb water in the gut and grow to make the bunny feel 'fuller' isn't the best for the gut. Rabbits only need hay and a variety of greens for a healthy diets. I like to top the diet of with dried herbs for the balanced guts. I have been taking in rescue rabbits for over ten years now and we have the same chew toys :D also we got the same tunnel. Perfect! Bunnies love hides with two or more entrances. Sadly bunnie sized hides are not easy to come by. You could improvise some like stepping stools. I definetly would add more hides and some digging place. Could be more blankets and towels or a little boy with rinsed playsand. I find cat sized hides and tunnels and bowls perfect sized for bunnies :3 The freeroaming would be perfect. I have ours in an enclosure during the night that is 2 by 2 meters big, but at day they have most of the apratment at their paw. Your floors are also perfect for the right speed love seeing her blinky around. Another thing is to look to get her a partner. I know many people say that a human companion or another pet like a dog can function as partner but that is simply not true. They need another bunny who speaks their language, who lies with them in their hides, and cleans them and munches hay with them. Bunnies need cuddle from other bunnies constantly and I can help with tip introducing them because a lot can go wrong if you don't do it right but once they 'found' each other, you can clearly see how much they need another bunny. But that's where I am leaving this rant. I could get into more specifics but I think I have spammed enough XD hope to see more of this little wiggly nose
I recently rescued an orphaned rabbit and raised her on goats milk. I did want to keep her but sadly she didn't adapt to handling very well. She was fine once I held her but catching her was a pain. I decided to let her go I bawled for over an hour so sad.
She probably sadly died too because you can't release animals that you raised from such a young age without teaching them to survive in the wild similar to how the mother would which the average person can't do or doesn't know how to do. Mostly only professional wildlife rehabbers can do it. That's why if someone finds a wild animal that needs help, they should call a wildlife rehabber rather than trying to save it themselves because the average person doesn't know what they're doing.
@@yms4355 it actually is. It's way more suitable for most animals than cows milk. And in places like india where they don't really have animal formulas they often bottle feed newborn animals with goats milk. I've even seen newborn puppies be raised on it and grow up strong and Healthy!
@@yms4355 Please do your research before coming at me lol. It is legit recommended for orphaned wild rabbits. I used powered goats milk and tripled the powder to water ratio for richness. I also added probiotics for baby rabbits. She was perfectly fine on it and was 100% healthy and eating all solid foods before release. Mind your own. I bet you have never rescued and cared for a wild orphaned bunny.

I found some of The Dodo videos are disturbing like children being rough with their pets by pulling their fur, whiskers and ears and hugging them tightly(why do parents don't teach them to be nice with living beings ?) and you can expose them
I have a pet rabbit too, named Ginger I got to bring him home when he was about 3 1/2 months old I got him from the shelter. Adorable bunny, she is a European rabbit? Technically all domestic rabbits are European rabbit, the same as the wild ones there. In the USA we mainly have Cottontails and Swamp rabbits which are completely different species and can’t interbreed with European/domestic rabbits. About potty training, rabbits will naturally pick one place to pee, it will take a few messes but once you recognize the one spot she’s going you should put the litter box there. In this case put the box in the spot where her bed was. I also take my rabbit outside every day in a run and he prefers to pee outside (and sometimes even will save it until I take him out lol) but you have to be in a super safe area with no pesticides, wild animals, toxic plants, etc. they can catch awful things from wild animals.

i new to rabbit too i have 2 mini lop and mini rex i have two litter box with hay- i find you feed them in the litter box they will pee in the box- so i have to keep the box clean like u i use hay and tend change it night and once in morning- then i but in the alfalfa hay you suppose give until 6 montths old cause of the calcium in it- there list vegies can give and alot not to give- so may want look into that- now i had set up like yors but when i got the mini rex it bounce out of the wire fence so i gave up gave them my guest room haha- daytime they sleep and i moved in with them- nothing like a bunny jump on your face while sleeping with sharp claws omg- but over all going ok- they do cost food hay vets- but yeah they are sweet- yours friendlier than mine i hope with time mine be that sweet- but yeah that way to potty train - now i put at far end the litter box hay then sprinkle the pellet's lightly on top - rabbits are foragers like to dig and graze so why feed like that vegies i rinse real well i do put them in bowl- now my rabbits wont chew apple wood - only bamboo so i get them the bamboo sticks they relatively cheap on amazon- so yeah but yeah rabbit seems very happy thats sweet
Give her a bowl of water not a bottle, those can cause dehydration. I use a ceramic pie dish so that they cant flip it because they love flipping dishes if they can. Mine like playing with baby stacking cups. Put the litterbox in the corner she was already using. Dont put any hay in the bed area it will encourage mistakes if you do. Also dont bother with a hay feeder just stuff it in the litterbox. I used hay feeders at first and its not good for them and really makes no sence at all to use.
For picking up it can help to get them used to standing up with your hand under their chest, using food to get them to stand up and going as slow as needed. The important thing is making sure it's a good and not overwhelming experience. Some rabbits never like being picked up tho, my girl hates it but my boy is great about it.
I'm amazed that you are just having the dog there. My dog is great about the rabbits (in their pens) but I have only had them put together with mydog wearing a muzzle, I just know it would only take a second for something to happen.

Another tip, I'm not sure if vets will spay or neuter a wild rabbit, but if you get the bunny spayed or neutered it will be so much easier to litter train her.
Also make sure you check the laws on where you live because I know here in New Jersey in the US. It’s actually illegal to keep wild rabbit so I’m not sure where you are.
We have Eastern Cottontails where I live, theyre illegal to keep as pets and its often cited as being because of how easily they die of fright compared to domestic rabbits. I saw some comments saying yours looks like a domestic hybrid and it got me wondering if yours frights very easily?

I love rabbits but tbh they are not that underrated. Lots of people love them.
One thing I remember from having both a rabbit and a guinea pig in the past, if they're allowed to run around in your home, even when supervised, definitely make sure all cables are up out of the way where they can't reach. Or better yet, find a way to completely block the little furry one from getting near them at all. And make sure anything you don't want to risk being nibbled on is up higher or blocked off. They seem to like the smell of certain types of rubber casings used on the wires of common household electronics.
I remember when I was little and, even while he was being watched, my rabbit somehow managed to get ahold of the cable for a portable stereo and chomped straight through it. Thankfully it was unplugged. But it literally happened in the blink of an eye.
Yes, they will bite clean through a wire with ease. Luckily ive only ever had them do this with headphone wires (but very annoying to have to keep buying headphones...)
Someone dumped two pet rabbits outside of my apartment in the snow like 15 years ago so we took them in while we contacted an animal shelter. We already had cats, no proper space for rabbits and they were both terrified of humans so we kept them in the second bathroom and ended up having to replace all of our hair dryers/curlers/straighteners.
former rabbit owner! Setup looks pretty nice, especially with that giant playpen. Someone already said this, but putting her food bowl near her litter box may be an incentive to get her to use that. I used a modified cat litterbox (cut/sanded down one side, wasn't sharp, since she was too short, and the box was too tall) w/ specific rabbit litter for mine that actually worked quite well. Rabbits are such precious pets!
hi! i own two rabbits, so here's some tips from experience:
- keep the hay in a feeder above the litterbox, NOT in the bed area. rabbits often do their business while eating, so it'll help with litterbox training.
- ditch the water bottle. it doesn't give the rabbit enough water, it's much better and natural for them to drink out of a bowl.
- get her spayed/neutered! i can't stress how important this is. unspayed female rabbits can develop a false pregnancy, rip out their fur to make a nest... it's better to avoid such stress and possible health problems.
- for the toys, avoid the artificially colored ones if possible. cardboard is an awesome choice, but i wouldn't recommend the colored ones. you can also try offering her sticks collected outside, but make sure to research what wood is safe for bunnies. my own buns also enjoy these stacking cups for kids where you stack them by size - you can put treats between the cups!
- make sure to research the diet as much as you can. for example, rabbits shouldn't eat beans, peas, nuts, cabbage, corn, onions and avocado. no grains or human food either.
- rabbits can be incredibly destructive. you'll need to get creative with bunny-proofing your house, protecting the cables, and blocking off certain spaces. even if you feel like your rabbit isn't interested in certain items and won't chew them... trust me, they can change their mind at any time.

Yes, European rabbits and domestic rabbits are the same species, except for the fact that domestic rabbits are a subspecies because they’ve been domesticated! She was most likely a part of a feral population.
Also for context, if Bezel starts to gobble up the whole pellets, be sure to limit the numbers of pellets since they are super high in fat! Some rabbits might eat as many pellets as they want and won’t stop.😂
And when she’s an adult, a small percentage of her diet will be pellets, so be careful.
Also for veggies, romaine lettuce, spinach, basil and healthy spring mixes are very good for vitamins and minerals but ONLY in moderation since over feeding will result with serious gut problems.
Rabbits are social animals, they can be solitary as long as you spend a lot of time with them, but it’s much better for them to have a buddy.

@yms4355 Rabbits are not herd animals! They only get along if they're spayed/neutered. They're highly territorial by nature and do not enjoy the company of other rabbits. It's been proven that wild rabbits only live in warrens out of necessity. When provided with adequate resources and decreased predator pressure, the burrows get further and further away from eachother.
Even fixed "bonded" pairs have a high likelihood of falling out and often partake in highly dominance-related activities such as agressive grooming, chasing, and humping.

Hi, also have rabbits and I really like what you are doing. Rabbits are, like cats, very clean animals. To get her to pee in her toilet, you have to collect the smell with paper towels and put it in the toilet and wipe up the places she peed on and cover them with another smell. Plus it would be more natural for her to drink water from a bowl. Rabbits do not get enough fluids from water bottles. You can use a waterproof puppy mat as a base as she probably step in it at first.
Vet tech and rabbit owner here! I’m sure you’ll take great care of her but I did want to say a couple things that might help you out. The urinating in her bed may improve on its own with time. Rabbits are very territorial and urine and feces is part of that marking behavior. As she gets more comfortable with her territory she will likely go in one spot, so put her box there. Only put hay in the box as well to encourage her. Also, if it’s not on your radar yet she should be spayed when she’s old enough. This helps with hormonal attitudes, marking and with prevalence of uterine cancer. Unspayed female rabbits are highly likely to get cancer, even when still young (like 5 years old, it’s so sad). I’m not sure about rabbit hemorrhagic disease in your country, but it is spreading in the USA. It’s very deadly and quick to spread. Thankfully there is a vaccine, definitely talk to your rabbit savvy vet. Also, you should get some young rabbit pellets. They are made with alfalfa and more calorie dense for growing buns than the adult pellets that are usually made with Timothy hay. Good luck rabbit proofing, my bun is free roaming and it’s sometimes trial and error. They are smart, mischievous fuzzies. I hope this help and I’d be happy to help any way I can. She’s adorable!

She looks like a domestic feral or a hybrid. The “wild” rabbit populations in Australia and New Zealand are the same species as domesticated rabbits, just haven’t been selectively bred as much. She isn’t truly wild, which is illegal to possess in most countries.
Also just a heads-up, and you’ll find this online too, that we feed alfalfa moreso than timothy hay until the rabbit is about ~7 months old. Especially since she’s not getting added calcium from the adult rabbit pellets (as opposed to juvenile rabbit pellets), she could really use the alfalfa hay to supplement bone development!

European Rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) were domesticated thousands of years ago to create the rabbits we have today (Oryctolagus cuniculus domesticus) however there is still entirely wild populations in Europe and invasively in a few other places (like NZ.)
Her white markings could potentially suggest that there was a feral domestic in her lineage, however it's also entirely common for white snips and stars on any species of rabbit. Most are born with stars or "milk spots" and molt them out in their first molt. However a decent amount keep them to adulthood.

The BEST CZcamsr to watch would be "The Pig Room" the guy he started getting into rabbits and has 2 and even had some give birth when rescuing some...but anyway I would DEFINITELY reach out to him he has a shop where you can buy bunny safe food and toys. But he does live in American and I don't know how the shipping would be....if not he can definitely still help by giving some advice to help you out. I adore that CZcamsr so much and he gives out so much of what to do and not do and so forth. I 100% trust this guy and would advise you to give him a try and a listening ear!

Ok so some things that might help your litterbox situation (so sorry this is so long lol):
- Using a hay bag/hay rack as you mentioned. I got mine on etsy (which probably makes it hard in NZ), but somebody crafty could probably look at the designs on there and make something for you. My buns won't eat hay they've peed on, so I never put hay inside the litterbox, just over the litterbox in a rack or bag. It encourages them to get completely in the box to eat their hay and therefore to do their business in the box. Before you get a bag, I'd reccomend just piling the hay to the far side of the litterbox so that the rest of the box has only a thin coating of hay to encourage her to hop in the box.
- In my opinion, litterbox looks a little small for her size. I would get a bin big enough for two of her to fit inside comfortably and turn around. You can repurpose one of those under the bed storage bins if you can't find something sold as a litterbox that is the correct size. When I had a litterbox that my rabbit "fit" in like this, she would pee over the edge. higher sides would help too, especially if you are wanting to put hay in the bottom.
- My rabbits seem to actually prefer a grate over their litterbox so they don't have to step directly in their pee/poop (they go so much so often that you would have to empty the box multiple times a day, which isn't feasible). Wire flooring is hated on a lot in the pet rabbit world, but it's perfectly safe as long as the gauge/spacing of wire is ok and it gets cleaned regularly, especially when only used for the litterbox and not their entire living space.
- Cleaning everything that has been peed on super well, reorganizing her crate area, and placing the litterbox where she was peeing the most before. You may have to remove the blankets, some rabbits will always pee on soft fabrics for some reason.
- You may need a second litterbox for when you let her out to give her a more attractive pee spot when she's out
- Some rabbits don't completely litterbox train until they're spayed
Also, because you are feeding an adult rabbit food, I'd suggest either switching to junior/young pellets or getting some alfalfa if you have access to it. Baby bunnies need substantially more calcium than adults (rabbits metabolize calcium poorly so too much can cause bladder stones, but baby bunnies are still growing and need much more).

Move the hay bin in the corner she was using, that worked for my rabbits previously. You can also move droppings into it to give it the smell she'd see as familiar in a litter box, it tricks them a little.
You should try a bowl for water, it's more natural to bunnies and they drink as much as small dogs. Hay in one place will help littertrain her. She's adorable!

I would use a water bowl as a tip ,its easier to clean and always has fresh water(its also easier on their necks) .i would make sure it is heavy tho because mine likes to dig at the bowl ....Timothy hay is the best for them and temu has great toys for cheap if you are able to on the site...baby rabbits will go thro toys constantly..
Also cat scratching board with pellets coming out will help keep them teeth down and its fun for them to do

I think your setup and care is really nice! The most important thing for a rabbit is a partner though! So you definately need a second one, no matter how much time you spend with her. Rabbits are super social animals that groom each other, snuggle a lot and even need to eat a special kind of poop from an other rabbit to be healthy. You're such a great pet keeper, so I'm sure you'll do your reserach on that! 😊 And yes, they poop where their hey is, so put the toilet under it. You eo not need Pellets for feeling, hey, vegetables, leaves and herbs are best! My last rabbits got 13 years old with this diet!!

It’s so cute Btw your set up is not bad as a rabbit owner my self it’s a descent set up and sense it’s more of a wild rabbit I would recommend putting out a descent sized play pen with a roof and no bottom and put it outdoors so she can some grass that’s an idea tho another thing I 100% recommend for new rabbit owners i recommending dig if your wondering what a dig box is also so know as a treat box it’s ware you get some rabbit treats and some small card board and paper scraps and put them in a box you can throw some Timothy hay in there for good measure and spread the treats around the box then put the small bits of paper and cardboard in the box and then place it in the cage so the rabbit can dig around in it too find the treats like how they would dig around for food in the wild. Anyways that’s some tips I recommend for new rabbit owners.
DEFINITELY don't put any rabbit on grass unless their gut is used to it. AND it is 150% necessary to have a deworming and Coccidiosis prevention regime as well as RHDV2 vaccinations if they ever come I'm contact with the ground.

I was just appreciating my bunny earlier. So happy to see this!! Bunnies are insanely intelligent and affectionate when given a chance. My bunny would defend me from my abusive foster father by attacking his feet, and whenever I'm down he comes to snuggle up with me. He's super sweet and affectionate. He showers even strangers in kisses! He understands A LOT of Finnish AND English and is an angel when taking medicine. He's basically perfect. He also loves belly rubs 🥰

In a way he's a rescue bun. I met him when I was put into the foster home. They didn't take good care of him and his girlfriend and kept them in a relatively small cage and didn't give them attention. Sadly, his girlfriend passed away because of their refusal to take her to the vet until it was too late. He became super depressed and sick. I gad to go out to buy the medicine on my own. Me and my bun became super close as a result of that.
I'm always happy to see bunnies given a chance and reacued. They're rains of sunshine. We really don't deserve them ❤
I am so glad to see this. I live on a lot of lane and my dog constantly catches baby rabbits. I had no idea they could be happy at all as a pet. I would release the babies back into a yard my dog couldn’t get in, but it would always worry me still.

im a rabbit owner of 4 years and a big help to me was etsy, theres so many cool things on there for enrichment! i like the snug-a-bun beds, flavored bulsa blocks, rabbit safe teas/treats, and cardboard or wooden houses! theres so many cool diy projects too!
also! if shes not already spayed i would 1000% recommend that, it lowers the risk of uterine cancer/reproductive health issues, as well as reduces overpopulation if she comes in contact with a male! not to mention the litter training part is SO much easier!
OK last comment, i also love making dig boxes! fill a box with different types of hay, forage, toys, shredded paper, cardboard tubes, and treats and she will spend hours digging through the box for all the fun stuff!
In terms of hidey houses, all of our rabbit’s except one are made of big cardboard boxes. We’ve cut a hole on one side and one on another side since wild bunnies like their burrows to have multiple entrances in case one hole gets blocked. Our bunny also chews on her box houses, which is great because it distracts her from chewing other things!
Another informative channel is "The Pig Room". He started his channel focus on Guinea Piggies and then started unexpectedly acquiring buns in his rescue journey so he has actually started a line and sells small animal safe products that maybe you could get shipped to you! I'm not sure about ordering, as I don't have small pets in my home atm. Hope this helps
Oh, I forgot to add. His line has several "brain buster" type bun toys that stimulate their "need" for finding food(it's important to implement at least one of these toys in their daily toy access and trade them out often to prevent boredom, especially in young rabbits). Rabbit can’t get hydration as easily from a bottle, so water bowls would be a better option, especially since they drink the same way as your dog or cat.
Hi 👋🏼 she is soo cute , your settup looks good , you could get a haybag to hang on the enclosure bars overtop of the litter box , also I wanted to say that bottles are not good for their water and a bowl works better for their posture and prevents dehydration ( a heavy bowl is better so she doesn’t flip it over) 😊 I personally use Timothy hay and my bunny loves it ! My bunny loves romaine lettuce , parsley , dill and i also give fruits for treats 🐇 I used the pellets as treats and supplements, but he gets a table spoon in the morning and sometimes at night too and a cup of mixed veggies / lettuce 🥬 morning and at night 😊

Keep all Hay just to the litter tray and feet pellets next to it as well. Rabbits tend poop while they eat, so if the littertray has all rhe food they will take to it very quickly normally!

I’m in the uk - My sister in law had a wild rabbit which she rescued as a baby, sadly the rabbit passed away a few months ago now, but she lived until she was 9 years old! so tame and loved to snuggle up with you, never met a rabbit as loving as her ❤
I had rabbits for many years as a kid and teen, my last bunny Momo died 10 years ago when I was 20. We always used wood shavings for the litter box, here in Germany it's sold pressed for that purpose. When establishing a new litter area, putting some pee soaked wood shavings there helps. My rabbits always loved eating freshly cut branches (obviously make sure that the plant is safe for them first). The rabbits were allowed to free roam in my parent's garden for a few hours every day and Momo loved biting off flowers 😂

My best friend used to have a bunny with similar coat pattern but hers was definitely a domesticated bunny.
If she keeps using a single spot for potty then you can change the litter box’s location to that, monitor her when she’s using it. Whenever she made a mistake, drop the poop in the litter box or clean the pee with a tissue and put it in the litter, then clean the mistake area with white vinegar and water solution to remove the scent.
By doing this repeatedly your bun will find her right place to use the potty!

Putting hay in her bed is probably why she peed there. I’ll sometimes put hay in a bag for some enrichment but definitely keeping the hay in the litter box is the best way to get her to pee in her litter box and definitely remove any wires. She will most probably chew on them! (The guitar cord and a charger I noticed)

Hi 👋🏼 she is soo cute , your settup looks good , you could get a haybag to hang on the enclosure bars overtop of the litter box , also I wanted to say that bottles are not good for their water and a bowl works better for their posture and prevents dehydration ( a heavy bowl is better so she doesn’t flip it over) 😊 I personally use Timothy hay and my bunny loves it !

I had one that looked just like her, she came from a breeder but a wild rabbit had made his way into the moms enclosure so she was half wild 😂 Mom was a blue eyed white so my girl looked exactly like Basil but she had blue eyes. I called her Blue because I was an unimaginative child 😂 she was very sweet but never became as tame as my other rabbits were, still loved her to bits. 💜

I dont think this is a good setup for a young energetic bunny. Usually i ignore stuff like this but i believe that u would act in your bunns best interest, because u always take good care of ur pets!
1. Bunnies should not be kept alone, in germany, where i live no responsible breeder, rescue or vet would ever let someone keep a bunny alone. I realize that in different parts of the world people have different standards, but shoudnt we strive for whats best for our pets?
To think that ur bunny only needs u as social contact to be happy honestly is worng u are a human and will never be a subsitute for another bunny. Also even if u would be a substitute, u are not there 24/7.
2. That pen is not big enough. Someone in the comments called it giant? Really brakes my heart...
Would u keep a cat in such an enclosed area? Or a dog? Maybe for an hour or two but not for the majority of the day right?
For me to be able to adopt a bunny i needed to ensure i had an absolute minimum of 6qm of free roaming space 24/7, otherwise the rescue here would not even consider me as a bunny owner. U did mention that u are planning to make ur bunn roam free, and thats good, but i do think that it is irresponsible to get an animal without beeing able to give them the bare minimum of space from the start.
Please try to be open minded on this and dont just do the absolute bare minimun, but try to give ur pet the best life possible, they cant fight for their own needs and wants, so we have to do it for them.
I got 4 cats alongside my bunny and I still don't recommend having a predator animal with a bunny without supervision unless they were raised with bunnies from a young age (my cats all were). Even then, depending on the predator animal and the bunny in question it can be risky, so I praise you for not leaving them unsupervised!
I haven't seen the whole video yet but a good way to get your bunny to pee on the spot you want, as far as I experienced with mine, is to also give them water and hay in that area. Definetly get rid of the waterbottle, it's uncomfortable to use and completly unnessescary, just put a bowl into the toilet area. It might have to be bigger, ofc. I put biological aspen shaving in the litter box and give them hay in one of the corners they don't use to pee. Bunnies tend to go to the toilet next to where they eat. You can get rid of the pellets, the way pellets absorb water in the gut and grow to make the bunny feel 'fuller' isn't the best for the gut. Rabbits only need hay and a variety of greens for a healthy diets. I like to top the diet of with dried herbs for the balanced guts.
I have been taking in rescue rabbits for over ten years now and we have the same chew toys :D also we got the same tunnel. Perfect! Bunnies love hides with two or more entrances. Sadly bunnie sized hides are not easy to come by. You could improvise some like stepping stools. I definetly would add more hides and some digging place. Could be more blankets and towels or a little boy with rinsed playsand. I find cat sized hides and tunnels and bowls perfect sized for bunnies :3
The freeroaming would be perfect. I have ours in an enclosure during the night that is 2 by 2 meters big, but at day they have most of the apratment at their paw. Your floors are also perfect for the right speed love seeing her blinky around.
Another thing is to look to get her a partner. I know many people say that a human companion or another pet like a dog can function as partner but that is simply not true. They need another bunny who speaks their language, who lies with them in their hides, and cleans them and munches hay with them. Bunnies need cuddle from other bunnies constantly and I can help with tip introducing them because a lot can go wrong if you don't do it right but once they 'found' each other, you can clearly see how much they need another bunny.
But that's where I am leaving this rant. I could get into more specifics but I think I have spammed enough XD hope to see more of this little wiggly nose

I recently rescued an orphaned rabbit and raised her on goats milk. I did want to keep her but sadly she didn't adapt to handling very well. She was fine once I held her but catching her was a pain. I decided to let her go I bawled for over an hour so sad.
She probably sadly died too because you can't release animals that you raised from such a young age without teaching them to survive in the wild similar to how the mother would which the average person can't do or doesn't know how to do. Mostly only professional wildlife rehabbers can do it. That's why if someone finds a wild animal that needs help, they should call a wildlife rehabber rather than trying to save it themselves because the average person doesn't know what they're doing.

@@yms4355 it actually is. It's way more suitable for most animals than cows milk. And in places like india where they don't really have animal formulas they often bottle feed newborn animals with goats milk. I've even seen newborn puppies be raised on it and grow up strong and Healthy!
@@yms4355 Please do your research before coming at me lol. It is legit recommended for orphaned wild rabbits. I used powered goats milk and tripled the powder to water ratio for richness. I also added probiotics for baby rabbits. She was perfectly fine on it and was 100% healthy and eating all solid foods before release. Mind your own. I bet you have never rescued and cared for a wild orphaned bunny.

She knows how to run from threats and I was feeding her a natural diet. On release she ran right to where all the rabbits hangout. I think she will be just fine. I have a pet rabbit too, named Ginger I got to bring him home when he was about 3 1/2 months old I got him from the shelter. He was originally a pet rabbit somewhere, but they found them outside and they thought he was a girl at first, but when the shelter took them to get fixed, they found out that he was a boy he is a tan color with a white belly and white bottom of his tail his three years old now he’s going to be four this coming. October is when I celebrate his birthday because I don’t know his exact date so I the day that I got him was October 20.

Adorable bunny, she is a European rabbit? Technically all domestic rabbits are European rabbit, the same as the wild ones there. In the USA we mainly have Cottontails and Swamp rabbits which are completely different species and can’t interbreed with European/domestic rabbits. About potty training, rabbits will naturally pick one place to pee, it will take a few messes but once you recognize the one spot she’s going you should put the litter box there. In this case put the box in the spot where her bed was. I also take my rabbit outside every day in a run and he prefers to pee outside (and sometimes even will save it until I take him out lol) but you have to be in a super safe area with no pesticides, wild animals, toxic plants, etc. they can catch awful things from wild animals.

i new to rabbit too i have 2 mini lop and mini rex i have two litter box with hay- i find you feed them in the litter box they will pee in the box- so i have to keep the box clean like u i use hay and tend change it night and once in morning- then i but in the alfalfa hay you suppose give until 6 montths old cause of the calcium in it- there list vegies can give and alot not to give- so may want look into that- now i had set up like yors but when i got the mini rex it bounce out of the wire fence so i gave up gave them my guest room haha- daytime they sleep and i moved in with them- nothing like a bunny jump on your face while sleeping with sharp claws omg- but over all going ok- they do cost food hay vets- but yeah they are sweet- yours friendlier than mine i hope with time mine be that sweet- but yeah that way to potty train - now i put at far end the litter box hay then sprinkle the pellet's lightly on top - rabbits are foragers like to dig and graze so why feed like that vegies i rinse real well i do put them in bowl- now my rabbits wont chew apple wood - only bamboo so i get them the bamboo sticks they relatively cheap on amazon- so yeah but yeah rabbit seems very happy thats sweet

Give her a bowl of water not a bottle, those can cause dehydration. I use a ceramic pie dish so that they cant flip it because they love flipping dishes if they can. Mine like playing with baby stacking cups.
Put the litterbox in the corner she was already using. Dont put any hay in the bed area it will encourage mistakes if you do. Also dont bother with a hay feeder just stuff it in the litterbox. I used hay feeders at first and its not good for them and really makes no sence at all to use.
I would reccoment oxbow brand for hay and pellets.
For picking up it can help to get them used to standing up with your hand under their chest, using food to get them to stand up and going as slow as needed. The important thing is making sure it's a good and not overwhelming experience. Some rabbits never like being picked up tho, my girl hates it but my boy is great about it.
I'm amazed that you are just having the dog there. My dog is great about the rabbits (in their pens) but I have only had them put together with mydog wearing a muzzle, I just know it would only take a second for something to happen.
2:11 9:02 is very interesting because most of the time the some animals are not going be friends or some of them can be friends or the others raise them as pets or maybe team working from those people are just getting worse and worse and worse but however my cat that I miss so much entering the cost of Halloween in 2022 literally raise my tortoise as like a child I don't know if that's how you say it but he did not lick her he did not eat her he just want chill and so as my tortoise usually I take my tortoise out cuz she maybe want to walk around for a little bit she maybe want to go to sleep with me or maybe she wants to go eat but Duran with hibernation I cover her up until blankets put her under my blanket she got out and walked up towards my cat but I still kept a blanket around her I put her next to me and my cat I was a little worried at the time because I thought my cat was not going to handle it but he was just chill is coffee because he took care of us and we took care of him and is probably because cat has has a lot of coat on their bodies so it keep their body warm up and so ask my turtle usually when you see videos they like force their animals to be to get her to think that their friends when they're totally not but with spiders and frogs and wild animals adopting pet animals is very insane the reason why my cat died it's because someone let him outside in Halloween time and someone who ran him over my poor cat I was very because how much a good friend he was certifications and took good care of my tortoise he also took good care of his own family his own kids even though they sometimes get into the troublemakers I still protect my pet tortoise my FUCKING AUTOCORRECT GOOD DAMN IT sorry but but overall he was a very good cat he will be missed and he will still be remembered 🥺🥹🥺
Another tip, I'm not sure if vets will spay or neuter a wild rabbit, but if you get the bunny spayed or neutered it will be so much easier to litter train her.
Also make sure you check the laws on where you live because I know here in New Jersey in the US. It’s actually illegal to keep wild rabbit so I’m not sure where you are.
We have Eastern Cottontails where I live, theyre illegal to keep as pets and its often cited as being because of how easily they die of fright compared to domestic rabbits. I saw some comments saying yours looks like a domestic hybrid and it got me wondering if yours frights very easily?
