How To Identify Fake Mitchell & Ness Jerseys: Real vs Fake

  • Using Kobe Bryant [TRUE] Rookie Year Jerseys for comparison. I say "true" because his rookie year (1996-1997) was the NBA's 50th year and all OFFICIAL jerseys should have the GOLD embroidered LOGO that year if they were to be accurate to what the players were wearing that season.

      No problem. You can still wear it. I don’t see any issue wearing a fake. The only true problem with a fake is the money you paid for it won’t go to support your player, team or sport. In the case of this video, my fake is more comfortable of a wear. If not, hang it up in your room somewhere.

And as much as I hate Kobe, that real authentic is still a gorgeous piece of clothing. Great video man. Nothing beats a real authentic jersey. Dont be cheap yall. You will appreciate the real one when it's in your hand.

    • @JMLRetroRoom
      @JMLRetroRoom  Před 5 lety

      Lol, I get where you're coming from.. from personal experience, the fake one is a more comfortable everyday general wear kind of material. The authentic one is for showing off :) and going to NBA games, maybe playoffs at home, collectors etc. I'm kinda on the fence with it. The fake one is perfect for actually wearing and playing games in since the price is so cheap and overall it's a decent product for what you get. [I think] I said I payed around $43 whereas the authentic was a whopping $275 from the Mitchell & Ness website. Not something I'd risk getting dirty like that. You will appreciate the authentic one for sure, but it comes with a sort of 'handle with care' along with it (not literally of course). The video allows a buyer to weigh their options vs use unless they're just a collector and that's fine. If that's the case, get the authentic one without question.
      Also, I've been a Kobe fan since I was 14 which was when he was drafted. By default I was a LAL fan but I'd cheer for any team he'd play for had he been traded.
      Hate is a strong word but I can understand.. I pretty much feel the same for LeBron. Not hate, just a lot of dislike I guess. Great player but I never liked him that much.

      @@JMLRetroRoom that's why I've had my swingman jerseys. They light. But the weight of something official... just cant beat it. Plus the two jerseys I got that are authentic are retired in sac and Richmond in the hall of fame and webber will be some day. And as a kings fan I will never forget or forgive 2002. Props to you tho brotha... the video was good, and I see its purpose. @@celticluck4853 I used to be the same way about authentic jerseys but I found that I wouldn’t actually wear them. I didn’t want to accidentally ruin them 😅. I had 3 Nike Kobe jerseys and sold them off some years ago, sold the M&N from this video shortly after and I sold a Champion vintage Kobe recently. It was screen printed from the late 90’s. Now that I’m older (38), I don’t care about “brands” or jersey authenticity if it looks good. I care about how much it costs but I want it stitched as well 😁. In person it's a little different as you can see a difference a bit better but you would need to know which is real in the first place so you know how to visually compare more accurately. I honestly prefer the fake over the authentic because it's lighter, smoother feeling and is thinner as well as much cheaper of course. You also need to know what the authentic looks and feels like for the year you wish to purchase since they changed material over the years in the NBA this way you don't accidentally buy a fake.

    I will admit. The fake one looks pretty good. However, I Honestly will always go with the Authentic jersey. That’s just how I feel. But the fake jersey still looks pretty cool! It looks almost pretty accurate!

    The stitching shortcuts on the 1996-1997 Kobe Bryant is the classic tell it is fake. You will see tiny shortcuts on a real m and n but not 2-3 cm threads between the letters and numbers, that is the first place I always check on ebay if I will even consider getting one. You would be better off taking that part off now that you own it and it would fool anybody not inspecting it. Also just because that fake looks really good, don’t just go to any fakes site and think you are getting one that good you will see ones with terrible shape to them numbers in the wrong spot and they will put a pic of another jersey in the listing. You will see baseball jerseys that end flat right under the numbers like a t shirt and they look awful.

    You're promoting the hell out of that fake one 😂 and the fake looks very bad in comparison. You don't notice the huge gap between the 1996-97 patch and hardware classics patch? That's a huge give away

      Just promoting that it’s a decent alternative for under $50 versus $275 which I payed for the authentic one. And if you look on eBay right now, the $50 ones are even better.
