Hey man I have a question for you. I watched your “REVERSE Diet” how to video and that’s what I’m feeling I should be doing. Slowly adding to where I am each week.. I’m trying to do the correct macro split for that… BUT I watched this vid to learn how to calculate and the numbers are less than what I’d like. I’d rather not eat less because I feel like I stalled out and I’m feeling like I should reverse. Is there any way to apply these same concepts to the numbers I feel I SHOULD be eating?
Dude I’ve literally spent an endless amount of time trying to really grasp these concepts before watching this video. THANK YOU for helping me and others like me understand this. Hands down the most helpful video I’ve come across when it comes to this subject

I've been struggling with fat loss for a while now.. I lost weight last year (222lbs - 170lbs) but gained about 20-25 lbs back (thx college) and haven't been able to get it off and keep it off. Gonna start counting calories for the next three months using your method and praying it works!
@@TheClimbingDietitian My goal is to increase my muscle mass and to get down to 15% body fat. In September 2017, I started my fat loss Journey. Last August 2019, I was down to 22.5% body fat. But I messed up my diet. Last month, in September 2020, I was at 33.7% body fat. But in the middle of last month I lost four and a half pounds. So I'm being more strict on my diet and nutrition. Aiming to get back to 22.5% body fat. Then going to my true goal of 175 lbs, 15% body fat. I hear that lowering your body fat can increase your testosterone levels. My coach never once gave me half the information you have in the two video’s I have watched of yours.
As someone who doesn't really eat meat, I have no idea how I'd consume 135 grams of protein a day while still keeping fat in check since most high-protein plant-based foods are also very high fat (nuts, for example). I know you say not to worry about it but damn this OCD of mine makes it slightly difficult.. 🤦♀️😣
Kelsey Pippin I'm a vegetarian. And 175g of protein target. In the dairy world, cottage cheese (I prefer low sodium), lentils, a whey protein shake, tofu, tempeh..... There are a ton of great lists (no meat athlete). Not super hard and you will need to pay attention for a little while until you start to see protein everywhere! Have a great journey.
You sir, are amazing. I have been living this lifestyle for over a year, and I wish I could have had you in my beginning. Even being so far into my journey, this was so helpful. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, from me and all the other homies out there trying to better themselves 💗

I got my diet plan from Agoge Diet and lost 2kg in just 10 days. So far, so good. Can't wait to see numbers on scale after 20 more days. I am so excited about this.
🙌🏻 Yes! Been waiting all week for this! I have a question that is driving me nuts!! Maybe you know, do I eat back some calories after I run? I’m training for a half marathon. I run 30 plus miles a week.... I wear a heart rate monitor and I’m burning some runs 800 calories. In the running world I hear a lot about this glycogen storage and how runners bodies halt in weight loss if you drop your calories too low and hold onto everything. Please tell me it’s bull! It’s everywhere pertaining to running.
I don't know why it took me SO LONG to finally watch this! I'm so glad I did. I've tracked before but this was so good to understanding the why/how and how I can manipulate it for what's best! Thank you!
I believe it's a number that has been found in research based on various equations but I'm not sure. That's why he uses it tho, because it is a known figure. Hope that helps??
Prefect! Your videos are so informative. I have a better understanding of so many things just by binge watching your videos. My goal weight is around 140 so I should be eating 1,680 calories. I've been eating around 1,400/day and I always feel really great and full, but recently I have been lifting a lot heavier and doing more cardio. I may consider increasing a bit. I feel more comfortable with the increase after watching these videos.
Jade Soileau honestly, pretty well! I felt super full at those calories though! So on a normal day I eat 1,200-1,400 and the on the weekends I increased! Either Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday I allow myself to go closer to 1,600! I eat for volume usually though so it’s hard for me to hit that much. I still have been dropping weight without a plateau at this point. I was scared to increase my calories too, but I noticed if I don’t I end up with a day in the middle of the week where I am insanely hungry at night!
Jordan! Man oh man I am SO thankful I found you! How amazing your videos are! I have about 45kgs to lose and with your information I am so driven to start. Thank you for being simplistic, honest, transparent and caring. It shows and you’ve reinstated my fire to get this weight off! ♥️

INNER CIRCLE REPRESENT!! J!!! Whoa! This was so great! Really really awesome information and incredibly helpful to understand tracking macros opposed to just calories. Thank you!! I appreciate you so much ♥️
Video recommendation for you please would be a guide to looking at common, simple foods and having ball park figures to work with. Example how many calories and protein in an average chicken breast, Big Mac (😉 I’m sure you know that one by now!) or anything else people commonly eat.
So with that I end up with 40% P 35% F and 35% C . Feels like 40% protein is a bit much (especially that I'm plant-based). I'll definitely try to do a 'as high in protein as I can manage' day and see what comes up.
I love the simplicity of how you approach counting calories and macros. I used your GBW x 12 approach from your last video and I have finally been able to shed some body fat. Also watching you weigh in daily and how going over your calories at times isn’t the end all be all. I used to think I could only be in a deficit for a brief period of time, because of “metabolic damage”. This time I am being patient and listening to my own bodies cues as to when it might be time to add in more calories.
Jordan how would I figure out higher fat/lower carb? My goal weight is actually 130 so this works out great for me...I just want to eat lower carb/higher fat 😉
This video was what I needed to watch! I was getting so overwhelmed by calories and macros. It’s like you gave me permission to just track calories and protein. Thank you thank you thank you!
Math isn't my strong suit but my calculation is this ends up being 33% Protein, 25% Fat, 42% Carbs. No different recommendations for postmenopausal women?
Not necessarily. Just that hormonal shifts make it slightly harder and more so puts on around stomach more so seems more noticeable. You still need calorie deficit. Are you currently progressing?
Thank you!!! 🙏🏻 You have no idea how helpful your videos are!!! I’m constantly hearing do this or do that but no real explanation or information on how to make it work! You are the first person to explain all this stuff in an understandable way! 🙌🏻 I’m going to subscribe now!🤣
Ok the two videos together are mind blowing 🤯 The combination explained makes SOooo much sense!! I don’t know why people say one is superior to another...
If you're currently maintaining? Then what you eat now could be it. I think I might have a video on a different way to determine maintenance. Feel free to search on my channel and say "starting calories climbing dietitian" :)
Love you video and how you sent message to people. I thinks counting just calories is better because you don't get too obsessed and is more suitable on a long period.
Fantastic follow up video to your calories video. It’s about time someone simplified things and cut through the bullshit of the much toted “magic item” to add / avoid. Everything is a tool or a spin you can put on things but you’ve nailed the basics that must be in place perfectly - thank you 🙏
I adore the hippogriff concept! Thanks for an entertaining as well as just informative presentation of these helpful-simple equations for nutrition. Refreshingly awesome!
this is such an amazing video with EVERY detail explained, i love it !! I did my own calculation but that seems like just too little calories, I don't want to starve myself :(
Thank you for this! About to do the fat loss phase as you suggested, in 90 days I'll do a diet break as you called them. So excited to get my health on track ☺️ bless you ❤️
Okay this is what I don’t understand. When I calculate the macros for example, those smart sweets, it comes out to 150, but the package says 90. Like which number do I follow?
@@TheClimbingDietitian This is my same question too! I noticed a lot of nutrition labels are way off according to their macros. For example the mission carb balance tortillas and the 647 bread. The 647 bread says it’s 40 calories, but macros are 13g carbs/0.5 fat/2g protein. That would be 64.5 calories. I usually have at least 2 or 3 pieces for breakfast, so that would be around 70 calories over just for that alone. What should I do when that happens?
@@ZanaFieldsBeauty Hey :) in this in the states? I've heard labelling there is a bit misleading at times as rounding off is allowed. The most accurate is calculation of each macro and adding it up. But not sure how viable that is from a time and ease point of view. Do you notice it with heaps of foods??
This is the info i have been searching for and it’s so simplified!! I’m one of those people that gets obsessed with minutia and then I go haywire when I go off track. Thank you so much 🙏🏻
I feel like big folks are never mentioned in weight loss videos. I'm 5'10" at 180-185 with 26-27% body fat and want to get down to 170 to maybe see what it feels like? Idk, 177 was the lowest weight I can remember in high school and I was still weight training. Main goals are just a lower percentage. Like possibly 18-23% body fat. I think that would be kinda cool to see.

Can you do a video if you haven’t alrdy on determining maintenance macros ? Or would you just take ya current BW & just do all the stuff you did ?
If you're currently maintaining? Then what you eat now could be it. I think I might have a video on a different way to determine maintenance. Feel free to search on my channel and say "starting calories climbing dietitian" :)
Extremely helpful and I’m terrible at math! You explained macros so well! Thank you! 😊
The timing is perfect! Thank you so much for all the info :)
Samantha Eberg thank YOU!
@jordansyatt this BLEW MY MIND I’ve been looking for these answers for literally YEARS!!!! What a LEGEND
GOD BLESS YOU, you’re the only person that made it clear enough for me to follow
I watched about 8 videos ... I love youuuuuuu ❤❤❤ alllll were very deaply helpful for me ... thanks ❤❤
Great information. Thanks for making it so easy to figure out.
J Osborne I appreciate it!
You are the master. Seriously so good.
Thank you so much :)
Great job 👍🏻
Never knew exactly how to calculate macros. You made it sound so easy. Thanks
Safa Butt hope it helps!
Thank you so much for all this info! It is very clear and helpful!! You rock!!
Rhonda Yegergarn thank you!!!
only my 3rd video of yours and im already excited to start my journey!!
this is such an amazing video with EVERY detail explained, i love it !! I did my own calculation but that seems like just too little calories, I don't want to starve myself :(
Brilliant video, thank you. It's amazing how much knowledge other CZcams fitness folk take for granted in their audience. This was perfect.
I love u video's. They are so informative 👊
Thank you Natalie :))
I'll try help. What do you mean exactly??
Best video I’ve seen explaining about calories and macros! ❤
AAAAAA Finally!!! It’s like I’ve been shaking, I’ve been so excited for this video! Love yah J!
Very helpful but is anyone’s carb, fat and protein not adding up to their calories?
So straight forward and easy to understand! Thanks for the great content, Jordan!!
Rebecca Ulmer thank you!
Wow where have I been?! This is so helpful!
Thank you!
Jordan is one helpful dude. What are you working towards out of curiosity? :)
The intro are always interesting with Jordan.
This is the info i have been searching for and it’s so simplified!! I’m one of those people that gets obsessed with minutia and then I go haywire when I go off track. Thank you so much 🙏🏻
I’m so excited to watch this... I’ve been anticipating this video since you suggested even doing it!!! Thank you!!
Saw the macro video now, didn’t know I was behind on your videos lol thanks!!
Never behind on videos :)
Awesome vlog mate!!!
Thank you for getting to the point and making it simple
Thank you for that griffin graph, you really cleared that up for me. I will practice to wrap my mind around that.
Thank you for this! Such a great explanation for calculating macros. Focusing on hitting my calories & protein daily, then I’ll work on the others!
bro I just found your channel and it is amazing................ hoping for such a quality content from you regularly
