On the Wrist, from off the Cuff: Uncle Seiko SARB Jubilee Bracelet

  • On this episode we take a look at an awesome new bracelet option for the very popular SARB035/033 line, from popular Seiko Mod resource Uncle Seiko brand. I've been in a love hate relationship with my personal SARB035, could never get the right fit with the OEM bracelet and all other aftermarket options just missed the mark in terms of scale or style. Now with this little gem from Uncle Seiko, I think I've found the best option yet, sure it's not quite perfect but it's still the closest thing to perfect I've found for the SARB yet. This bracelet has me wearing my SARB035 more than ever before and I'm honestly fine with the slight tradeoffs in endlink and clasp construction. Let me know what you think in the comments below, thanks guys!

    I thought this was going to be it! They need to upgrade to solid end links and a better clap. Then it will be a winner.

    I got excited for a while, then got disappointed with the stamped clasp. *SIGH* Been waiting for a Jubilee bracelet that checks all the boxes. I don't get why Strapcode opted for a big, chunky Jubilee on their SARB bracelets, they just don' make any sense. I emailed them a while back about a Super Jubilee and the person who responded to me told me they'll pass my suggestion along to the manufacturer. Seriously they are missing out of making a properly-made Jubilee for the SARB line.
    If Uncle Seiko can release an update to this bracelet, maybe include solid end links, milled clasps and maybe perhaps use a Christopher Ward-type ratcheting micro adjustment, I'd be willing to pay top dollar for that.

      porschephile2k3 I only have one bracelet from strapcode and I really don’t think they’re worth the price. I might try em out again since it’s possible I have an older version or something, but I don’t see why there’s so much hype with em

    • @porschephile2k3
      @porschephile2k3 Před 4 lety +3

      @@a97b18b I don't think the hype comes from how great they are, I think it has more to do with Strapcode being the only game in town for a while until Alpha and Uncle Seiko came along. I recently got a Strapcode Oyster for my 033 since I couldn't get a good fit on the original bracelet and this one works a lot better for me because of the multiple micro adjustment holes. I originally wanted to get a Jubilee-type bracelet for it but I don't really like how chunky the Angus Jubilee bracelet is, plus having male end links for a Jubilee looks really silly!
      Uncle Seiko is going in the right direction with what I hope is a first iteration of the Jubilee bracelet, but I hope they put some modern features into it because although the SARB 033s and 035s look a bit like vintage Seikos, they are modern and deserve to have a vintage-inspired modern bracelet. Add SELs, a milled out clasp with a twin trigger release and optional fold over lock and you have a winner in my book. Extra bonus points if he can pull off a Christopher Ward type ratcheting micro adjustment, but that's a nice-to-have not a must-have.

  • @dpearson80808
    @dpearson80808 Před 4 lety +8

    You definitely have to have the watch tighter not looser in order to wear closer to the hand. The bracelet will have to get bigger in order to wear further from the hand. I always wear my watches behind the bone, away from my hand. If they fall down to my hand they are loose. That is why you had a hard time moving the watch up your wrist, because it gets bigger. Also, any time I wear a watch right up on my hand like that I get way less articulation because the watch and crown jams into my hand if I bend it back. Always behind the bone for me.

    I actually put my skx013 Jubilee on my sarb and it fits perfectly and gives the exact same look as this bracelet. You can actually even use the Sarb's solid endlinks with skx013 jubilee and it fits and looks remarkably well. I put an Uncle Seiko curved waffle strap on the skx013 and couldn't be happier.

  • @willardhooton920

    Nice vid, that jubilee does look really good!
    I still would prefer the original Oyster bracelet, I'm just a big fan of the whole look and I don't care about the clasp gap and it fits me perfect!
    And also, the clasp on the jubilee would kinda overwhelm my small wrist so the minimal clasp on the oyster is likely better for me.

      @@bngr_bngr I love it. It has a solid end link and the bracelet is very comfortable. However the simple folding clasp with safety undermines the watch. Nevertheless, given how Uncle seiko focuses on vintage aesthetics, I accepted the clasp. The bracelet is also a lot lighter than the original one. Makes the watch looks fancy (I would even call it bling bling), and it does receive complements from time to time.

    • @jonathansaraco
      @jonathansaraco Před 4 lety

      The real problem with the Strapcode isn't the quality, it's the design of the bracelet. It's one of their "Angus" jubilees, which has thicker links, and is more of a diver bracelet rather than a dress bracelet. That's why I thought I'd go for this Uncle Seiko bracelet rather than the Strapcode, but some people don't mind the extra heft of the Strapcode.
