People get confused by Lex Luthor being able to challenge Superman through his intelligence and technology, and yet they were so accepting of some Androids beating up Super Saiyans who surpassed Frieza lmao
To be fair, the comics have made it very clear Superman could obliterate Lex Luther at any time if he really wanted to. Fortunately for Lex, Clark is a good person.

Superman’s struggles don’t always lie in the struggle vs his opponent. Superman’s struggles are internal-it’s about doing the right thing, sticking to what you believe is right, and coming to terms with the fact that you can’t be everywhere and help everyone all at once. If you approach a Superman story the same way you approach a shounen like DBZ then of course you’ll walk away disappointed, but Superman isn’t a shounen.
Lex is his enemy not because Superman struggles with Lex but because Superman refuses to take his life while Lex is forever seeking ways to topple Superman or prove that he’s a monster and turn the world against him in the attempt. If Superman killed Lex that would make him out to be a monster and so he doesn’t and seeks to bring him to justice peacefully if he can-that’s the whole nuance behind their rivalry. It’s almost like a parent disciplining a rebellious child that’s always trying to undermine them.
We can complain about how strong he is all we want but that’s the character we constantly keep putting Goku up against. If anything blame the DBZ fans that don’t recognize Superman. Dude’s an OG and without him we may not have superheroes like we know them today. Gotta pay respect for that at the very least
I love how every DB fans reaction to superman flying through stars is "That's cheating!" lol as if goku is the only one that's allowed to power up.
To them, It's only okay when Goku does this feat that he can't even do. When someone else has the ability to break through dimensions or universes, they'll claim "yeah but DB does it better because"
It’s also in character for Goku to let Superman sundip if it meant a greater challenge.
TBH idk why it gets to me more about Superman and I am a lil bias but Its a lot of things that happen in dragon ball that make ppl like me go "Now come on now". Saying that I feel like the power scale is easier to understand vs superman. Goku has multiple flaws vs super just having kryptonite. IDK if feel it will always be a debate and everyone is bias towards what they grew up watching.

Superman's stories aren't about who can punch harder or winning a fight, they're about competing ideologies, philosophical debates and standing against injustices. He's a far more nuanced characters than any Shonen protagonist.
It's unfortunate that so many people can't figure out how to write for him.
In theory. Unfortunately 99% of his stories end up being contrived and mediocre, and characters like Spiderman or Optimus Prime usually being the same beacon of morality Superman is, but in a far more engaging manner.
Also, there are plenty of phenomenally written shounen protagonists, and Goku himself I would argue is pretty darn well written.
@@philswift8793 Goku is ridiculously 1 dimensional though. The same person he was as a little kid when Dragonball was first created is the same person that he was/is at this point in Super. That's boring as hell. People want character development, they want conflict, they want their heroes to have a crisis of faith and come out on top. All Goku ever has to do beat the other guy. That's the extent of the conflict. This is also why Vegeta, despite Toriyama himself declaring that he hated Vegeta as a character, is one of, if not THE most popular Dragonball character. There is no other character in Dragonball that has taken a journey like Vegeta.

That's literally the whole basis for his powers, so that's the same as saying that Goku using ki isn't using his own power either. Superman flying through a bunch of stars is no different than Goku switching through his forms, it's still valid whether you like it or not lol.

It's a symptom of having under developed critical thinking skills. Not throwing any shade, but when people can't seem to grasp concepts like this and by their own admission "Tbh I don't know", that is what it means. More importantly is that this isn't an uncommon problem these days. Most people in America under 30 just don't have these skills. Perhaps that was the point all along.

I understand that. I just dislike how many versions of superman there is versus one goku. Like I understand GT and Heros but we understand that those are not made by Akira Toriyama.

Lex Luther is someone Clark can't always beat through physical force. A lot of the time his crimes are under the table away from the public eye. He can't just bust into Lex's office and take him to prison. That violates Clark's principles. Superman is not above the law.

Lex Luther is a moral antithesis to Superman while Goku and Supe are morally alligned. Lex uses Supermans morals as a weapon against him and the only thing stronger than Supermans powers is his morality. At least, that's how the good Supe comics are written.

@tloosereacts2830 The movies like Batman v Superman, Dark Knight Returns, and even stuff like Injustice aren't canon as they're not following the main Superman. It's the whole Multiverse thing they're always bringing up. None of these things happen with the main timeline/universe, Superman.

Heroes was taken into account. There's the research blog going over everything taken into account for this, but also a text box at the end explaining their counterargument for the Key Sword from Xenoverse. It's Capsule Corp. Goku from Xenoverse/Heroes vs New Frontiers Superman, who works under the latest retcons that make all the old stuff canon.
And the fact that while Heroes isn't technically canon to the main timeline, it IS considered an official continuity, so using Heroes scaling and feats should be okay.
I prefer Goku, I love Goku. I’m not really that bothered by Superman, but Superman is THAT hero, Superman wins, he has all the ass pulls a power up when he needs it because he is the only purely good hero.

Batman and Lex always use Superman's weaknesses like Kryptonite and Red sun light when fighting him.
Goku is not that kind of character. he always wants to fight someone at their strongest.
Goku literally let Frieza go 100% power on namak and Goku gave Cell a senzu bean so his son can fight Cell at his strongest.
Oh one more thing in the Comics Godzilla did something Goku could not do, beat Superman he literally burned him to death because it turns out Godzilla's Atomic Breath has the same ionised radiation as Kryptonite.
Lex is scary smart, though. Dude was able to take technology made by gods and upgrade it. And entered a place only a 12th level intellect could survive, casually stating "so I'm over qualified." The dude could just casually teleport Goku into the sun.

Superman & Goku’s writing is drastically different to where it’s comparing apples to oranges.
-Goku has defined an entire generation, but Superman has been around for several. Supe’s creators have been dead for *decades* .
New ideas are gonna come and go. Goku has only had one creator, while modern comic writers come & go out of a proverbial revolving door, adding to or undoing ideas that their predecessors have done, each with their own ideas of what the characters are supposed to be.
-When Superman was created, his primary enemies were real-world oppressors like Nazis, the KKK and evil corporations. Nobody cares how unfair the fight is when the enemy is *that* real.
-People complain about comic book characters breaking reality, but anime characters do the same thing. I mean, the *humans* in Dragon Ball can reach feats that no human could survive even if you multiplied their stats by 10. We’re just *that* fragile. Meanwhile, the Z fighters are fighting the Ginyu force (elites that made the planet-busting Vegeta afraid) *while* under 100x gravity.
-Villains using tech against physically superior opponents is nothing new. Lex exploits Superman’s weaknesses with Kryptonite, sure. But his Warsuit was made on a Hell planet by the Final Boss of DC comics. Dr. Gero made Cell using the DNA & Data of everyone Goku knew & fought at the time, Trunks, Frieza & King Cold included.
Lex Luthor hasn’t beaten superman in countless years and when he did back in the day he used kryptonite or red sun energy which is Superman’s weakness samething with Batman also superman loses all the time however it’s usually by characters equal to him like darkseid or doomsday etc etc or characters who use magic or kryptonite against him
Goku loses to Superman for one big reason he is a Saiyan Lex is a great villain to Supernan because they will play dirty and do what needs to be done irs why Batman can veat him where Goku can't it's his charater that is his biggest weakness
