NEW McLaren Solus GT Sound: 840hp/1000kg Track-Only Car w/ a Screaming 10,000rpm V10 Engine!

- The queen of the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed Sunday's shootout was the brand new McLaren Solus GT, which set the fastest time of this year's edition in 45.34 seconds in the hands of Marvin Kirchhofer.
The Solus GT is based on the 2017 McLaren Vision Gran Turismo concept that appeared in the Gran Turismo Sport video game, built around a bespoke carbon fibre monocoque chassis that incorporates numerous designs and features from current Formula One cars, such as ground effect and crash structures.
It's powered by a Judd-derived 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10 engine which is able to produce 840hp, 640Nm of torque and rev up to 10,000 rpm. Kerb weight is just 1,000 kg. Only 25 examples of this insane single-seater will be made for track use only.

NA revving until the stratosphere, is just sex on wheels. And this one explains it well.
I agree and it usually means really good efficiency without being lazy and relying on turbos and often sound a heap better too

This is a far better video of the Solus' run, purely because you actually got good audio. Goodwood's youtube channel still hasn't figured out how to record or sync audio from their footage, it's a disgrace honestly. Thank you for this 🙏🙏🙏🙏

I had no idea McLaren was insane enough to take cues from JUDD and go all out on the engine, that thing is bonkers!
Whiff of a 905 Evo with that ferocious growl and sonorous roar at the top end. Absolutely stunning engine, I might have conditioned myself to enjoy the gear whine and onboard hum of the V6TH in F1 but nothing gets the blood pumping like a V10 trying to deafen everyone from 5 miles away.
Quality capture Bozzy, hope the Festival was grand, looking forward to going to the Revival in September!

I absolutely loved this car back in the day when I played Gran Turismo Sport when it's been still a prototype called McLaren Ultimate Vision GT. Glad to see McLaren brought it to real life

So, this is basically a Formula 1 car from the early-mid 2000s but with a body draped over it and a more torquey engine. Awesome!

Close but not quite - more like from the group c days, late 80's early 90s. A little more throaty sounding like to Solus. Mid 2000's F1 was more like a screaming banshee from hell. Cant lose either way.

That Judd engine was made originally to LMP1/LMH specs, but no one chose it. A shame as it would've added more sound variety to WEC

I love that they produce cars what i am dream of in the 90s as a kid, like the valkirye, the zonda, and this for example.
Your videos always makes me wish they'd improve their broadcast. Specially the audio. And the quality of the video. And try different angles too. (i still have to appreciate the fact that we have it for free tho, so can't complain much. Just observations) Became a tradition to binge your channel after every goodwood fos.

@@jorgetudzharov the irl version has a v10 deverived from f1 while the the VGT version had a twin turbo v8. the irl version has a seat position similar to f1 while the VGT version has a seat position where the driver's head bends a little. i think that's all the major differences. Top gear has an episode about the Solus and it was confirmed the Solus was the irl version of the VGT. you should check it
