Valentine's is near and I'm here to show you how to bake butter cookies. You still have a few days left before the day arrives so if you don't know what to give your loved ones, this will solve your problem. Gather up all your ingredients and bake with me !

Ingredients:
225g butter, softened slightly
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 egg yolk, room temperature
2 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
Recipe:
1. Cream the butter, salt, and sugar together until well combined.
2. Add in egg yolk and vanilla, making sure you scrape down the sides of the mixing bowl as you go.
3. Sift flour and baking powder. Mix in (with the butter mixture) until it forms into a ball of dough.
4. Wrap with a cling-wrap and knead slightly if it has crumbly bits. Leave to rest in the fridge for 1 hour.
5. Turn out the dough on a lightly floured surface. Roll it out until it's 5mm thick and cut out the shapes using your cookie cutter.
6. Preheat oven to 180C/355F conventional, 160C/320F fan-forced.
7. Bake for approximately 8 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
Maximum of 10-12 minutes.
8. Let it cool, and enjoy!
note: you can preserve the dough by putting it inside the freezer,
you can also preserve the cookies after baking them by putting them in the fridge.
