Home of Richard Ashcroft and the verve. I agree its really Lancashire, never thought of it as greater manchester tbh. Always reminds me of Oldham, think its the buildings. Used to work in Ince.

Wigan and Manchester were taken out of Lancashire since early seventies. Lancashire was too big and elected Labour majorities. Ted Heath made the split to get some Tory control.
