I've been a fan of IU since her debut. I still remember how she received hate because she participated in so many variety shows and radio shows. She worked really hard and did so many acoustic covers with her guitar. When "Good Day" came out, it opened a new world of fans to IU. I think "Good Day" really started it all, but because she had a great personality from her work, everyone supported her rise. IU is God IU--the idol of idols.
She's indeed known for her personality, fell in love with her because of that.
IU is also known as donation angel and it even acknowledged in Forbes' Asia's 2019 Heroes of Philanthropy: Catalysts For Change, being the youngest to have made the list. She also was made an honorary member of the police force in 2013 before being promoted to an honorary senior police officer in 2014 for a two-year term for South Korea's National Police Agency in their anti-bullying campaigns in schools.
Her donations only in 2020 reached over $840000, her disclosed donations since debut has now reached over $2.2 million 😇, we know where our money goes also these are what known to public, there are many undisclosed volunteer works and donations she has done or been doing which we only got to know a glimpse of it when back in 2018 her donation to one org was suspected and the ngo had to come to release official statement in her defend and some of those undisclosed NGOs workers had to reveal some of her good deeds so they can prove her innocence

가수로써 인기비결은 본인 색을 잘 찾았고, 아이돌에서 뮤지션으로 잘 변환했고, 뮤지션 중에서도 독보적이라서.
초기보다 지금이 더 안정적인 발성이 느껴지는 반면, 조금 상큼한 맛은 떨어지긴 했는데, 개인적으로는 그게 너무 좋았음. 성장형 가수라는 걸 보여줬었음.
아이유 초기에 나왔을 때 (개인적으로) 아이유가 만약 저 창법과 목소리, 또는 저 분위기에서 변하지 않으면 5년 이상 유지하기 힘들겠다 생각했는데, Boo 부터 지금의 Coin 까지 보면 자신의 나이에 가질수 있는 다양한 감정을 잘 노래에 묻어나게 한게 가장큰 성공포인트라고 생각하고, 솔직히 말해 진짜 뮤지션이 되어가고 있구나 하고 느껴진 시기는 분홍신때 부터라 생각함.

It was love at first sight for me. I saw her on You & I MV my sister was watching wearing her headphones, what caught my attention was her SMILE. Her smile is just so pretty!! I freaking fell inlove (even though I'm a girl) And then I started listening to her songs which made me further inlove and eventually head-overheels when I started to know her more.
