    Only watched the first 30 seconds so far and I am glad you mentioned that it is a playerbase thing.
    A number of loud voices in the wiz subreddit community (yes I'm calling THEM OUT specifically) is pathetic beyond belief when it comes to them making anything even remotely difficult or challenging to the playerbase.
    And if you as a content creator dare support any change that they make that makes the game more difficult, people will act like you killed their entire family and tortured their pets to death for supporting anything that makes it more difficult.
    Like, go back to playing games with a difficulty meant for 5 year olds if you think them wanting you to grind for good stats and be challenged is a bad thing in an MMO of all games.

    • @ferric
      @ferric Před 2 lety +5

      2:40 Yeah that's why I always have a hitting setup on every school, even Ice just in case I am in that situation where I need to use teamup to farm something.

    • @ferric
      @ferric Před 2 lety +7

      3:00 Yep, I've noticed this too, like you can hit perfectly fine on an ice, yeah it's not ideal and it's a lot weaker, but at least be useful even if you're school is not that useful in that fight.
      3:50 ABSOLUTELY Deserved
      I agree as well with your point on the people that take school identity way too seriously as well.
      Great points made here and I just had to get that point off my chest with the original comment. There is nothing wrong with making a game that challenges you.

      This was me in Darkmoor when me being a Life wizard decided to hit, and it pissed off a lot of storm wizards. Here's the thing my life wizard without Darkmoor gear was already at a 100% damage, as these guys had about 70% damage, and when I brought this up they refused to understand.

    I’m personally on the side where roles are less defined. I think that it would be a little boring if every class just followed their role like a robot. Its fun trying to discover new ways to do something thats out of the box.

    i like the idea that every school has a role, but i think there should be a heavier emphasis on different types of gear for each school. A storm should have access to gear that may have moderate damage, with an emphasis on heal so that you can play as a pseudo-life wizard when you have another hitter, etc.

    • @olyviermonteau4300
      @olyviermonteau4300 Před 2 lety +2

      the problem is storm has like one to two healing spells max, so they aren't support period. their sole purpose in life is hitting, then dying. sometimes it's better for quality of said things than quantity of different things. there is no way some creator is gonna diminish storm wizards as hitters just to try and get them to start healing, cuz then it's gonna have their class crumble entirely.
      these schools have the same problems irl companies do, in that they have to choose what audience they need to cater too in terms of uniqueness.

  • @michaelrichburg
    @michaelrichburg Před 2 lety +12

    Adaptability. Every school has the ability to adapt to any situation. Which is really nice because that means even if you are soloing you won’t be totally screwed in a fight just because of the school you chose to play. I main a Storm and my gf mains a Life and we always quest together. We found it much more efficient for both of us to be hitters because often I cannot one shot mobs on turn 1 by myself. So with both of us hitting we can get through mob fights on turn 1 very frequently. She even hits in boss fights unless it’s a higher difficulty boss, then she’ll play as a tank/healer/support so we don’t die while I load up on blades for a OHKO. We adapt according to the situation to be most efficient.

    Definitely school identity is just broken beyond belief in Wizard101. Like for Pirate101, class identity is so better in its organization and how they operate. The Buccaneer, Swashbuckler, Musketeer, Privateer, and Witchdoctor classes have their own way of combat and not the same. I have played the different classes and they have their own respective roles. Also the classes are set up in their own strengths and weaknesses. Not only that, they excel in group combat. Like literally where a wiz combat were some are prepared and some are idiots, pirate combat, everyone is involved in tactics and style of combat no matter what classes because they actually work more closely together without destroying their identities. Like for example, you have a Privateer as an insane great support in the stat buffs and heals in group combat, the Buccaneers and Swashbucklers are deadly together, and the Musketeer covering fire before the charging units get to us or dealing as much of chaos and damages to the enemy with traps and barricades. Like the epics, talents and powers are set specifically for them but they are able to expand when needed. Like you will never find anyone doing nothing because they can bring something to the table.

  • @catzizi
    @catzizi Před 2 lety +10

    I think it would be interesting for them to add a secondary specialization that would better suit wizards for the role they want to fill, like if you wanted to tank, at a certain level you could chose the specialization and you would gain a bit of health and defence but loose some damage ect., this would be a pretty big system to implement properly but maybe it could more or less take the place of a different type of magic with class specialized spells. Naturally a life would be a better healer but a storm could chose the healer class, get the buffs and some spells so they can actually be somewhat effective at the role they want to fill

    Completely agree with the video. As I see it, Storms are the quarterbacks of the team. Fire is like the star wide receiver or running back. If you only have a storm on your team, the team can severely suffer if that one person doesn’t understand his role within the team. I’d much rather take a bunch of life wizards over storms who are incompetent. Nothing is better than when you have a trustworthy storm or fire who knows how to play the round correctly and play off your support.

  • @amanix10
    @amanix10 Před 2 lety +3

    Don't get me started on wizards who refuse to play their set role. It's so frustrating. My main is a balance wizard (woe is me) and I was farming waterworks. There were four people to start with, but the fourth left right at the start. It was hard enough to get through with three lower level wizards, but then the third one left mid-dungeon. AND THE LAST ONE. DID NOT COMMUNICATE AT ALL. I honestly don't know how we beat the final bosses, because she kept using traps and blades exactly when she shouldn't have, and as a myth I was expecting her to do the attacking because what the hell was I supposed to do lol. But she kept stalling and dragged on the battle for so long by using all the wrong spells. There's also the support wizards that only blade, heal, and attack for themselves without considering the rest of the team's strategy. Gosh, it's like they have no sense of teamwork.
    But I agree with you, there needs to be balance. I've had problems on both ends of this issue too, and I think the answer is just people gaining more experience with teams.

    I only ever quest with a friend of mine so I have little experience teaming up with other players. At least in my experience questing with different friends; I definitely agree class roles are important but not an end-all-be-all.
    For example: I am currently playing an ice wizard with a life amulet and my friend is playing a balance wizard. For most of questing, we both try to hit since there is little reason for me to shield or heal. However, neither of us are afraid to take on roles if the situation calls for it. For most hard dungeons, I tend to be support (healing, shielding, and feinting). However, I have also been the hitter when the situation calls for it (generally balance boss or a boss that steals balance blades). Because of this flexibility, my friend and I have enjoyed the game and succeeded at some pretty difficult fights.
    If we *only* ever played into our roles the game definitely wouldn't have been enjoyable as it has.

    This was a massive issue I had when I was farming Darkmoor, I had a Life that had over 100% damage and a lot of the time I was getting paired with Storm wizards that had around 70% damage. When it always came into discussion as to who would hit the Storm wizards always got so pissed that I even dared to suggest that I'd even hit, despite the fact that their damage was lacking compared to mine, like its not my fault that I decided to seek out better pieces of gear that buffed me that high.

    People are sometimes too strict with their roles. I always have issues with storm wizards. I was farming the Earth Elemental in Dragonspyre the other day on my level 130 death wizard, and a level 30 storm wizard joined me. The only issue I had, after 5 fights in he really had the nerve to complain why I wasn’t blading him or feinting the boss. They continued to complain that the fight would go faster if I just fainted and bladed him, but I was legit finishing the fight in 2 rounds. The dude needed four to even hit.

    Also another thing I hate when following the school rules is that usually as my balance I blade other wizards with bladestorm and give other wizards blade but yesterday a storm wizard and I were doing a dungeon in Azteca and he only does 40 damage and I do 98 and I was not going to risk my pips on a storm wizard who doesn’t have good damage and doesn’t use aoe spells. Also the last boss in the dungeon was storm and he decides to hit him first without doing a prism. I was doing most of the damage and he also took my feints.

I was literally about to reach through the screen( not that you can do that) but the amount if frustration I felt was totally valid. But yea school identity is important and if you don't know what yours is you may as well just not play, because at that point you ruin it for the people who play the game how it is designed. Anyway, done with my rant 😆

  • @oligotide7257
    @oligotide7257 Před 2 lety +3

    The thing is PvE isn't hard at all, people just refuse to learn how to play. For instance, I tried fighting "The Writer" in Lemuria the other day alongside a fire, an ice, and my level 120 storm. I told the fire and ice to put backdraft, feints, elemental blades, fire blades, and TC cleanse in. The fire did try to feint, but couldn't draw backdraft because he had so many shields and braces in, and then the ice was trying to hit. I ended up leaving and just attempting the fight with just my fire and storm. Since my storm had less damage than my fire, I just packed feints and elemental blades and TC cleanse, and would flee and repeat when need be. It wasn't as efficient as 4 perfect people, but it was significantly more efficient than 2 additional people who don't know how to play. And this is why 2 accounts is worth it lol.

    I know I'm late to the party, but school roles were much different when I first started. I started back in 2009, and Dragon Spyre was the last world. Life back then didn't have an aoe spell; Ice was the only school with universal resist; and Storm was the only school that could get its great damage over 40%. So, the roles for each school was more important.
    Today, roles for schools are less important. Every school can do massive amounts of damage and have universal resist. With the new arch mastery (I think that is the name), my ice can now use life heals without a life mastery amulet and without using a ton of pips. The game is easier today than it was 14 years ago.
    When I do team ups, I care less about school roles than winning. As long as I win the match and everyone is having fun, do your thing. I understand that roles are necessary in a few scenarios, but it isn't as important anymore.

    I am a storm main with my secondary school being life. If one hitter is needed and another persons stats are better than mine, I will switch to support and heal when need be, especially if there is no life wizard. I cannot really be a tank because of the lower health and resist for a storm, but I can and will switch if need be. Thats what I love about wiz101. I play runescape on and off, and there are no set classes or schools, which has prepared me nicely for this way of thinking. I usually ask what the others want my role to be, and say what I can do with the spells I've learned.

  • @shireetropix6360

    I agree and feel that the problem could be fixed by adding a tutorial on schools for new players back at Wizard City level. There is room for more side content there and there is no way of learning about it except from other people who have already gone through the game if you're lucky enough to know any (and then you risk getting their warped ideals) or by watching videos/reading wikis outside the game. For pete's sake - even pacman and tetris came with instructions! I don't recommend putting it into the first tute where you learn how to cast spells - it's too quickly forgotten and people skip it anyway but I would think that each professor could take you into their school room and walk you through scenarios then grant you a select spell at the end of it. That would be more fun and relevant.

    I have maxed leveled my death wiz and working on gear. I understand that usually I am a good class to feint spam due to my higher health, but I also have 150 damage rn so I can hit harder than some other players, and sometimes it is fun to be the hitter versus just being there to spam feints or plague which I rarely do.
    I think storm wizards generally feel they always have to hit due to being known as the hitting class. Other schools don't always need their identity in pve because they can just focus on hitting. I almost never use plague because I am just gonna mass hit. I rarely see an ice shield or help that way. Usually life wizards know to heal since they get lots of heals and then blade the rest of the time. And I think only a few dungeons actually benefit greatly from roles. (Like Foetid crypt or Storm Titan). The rest of the time, usually anything works if you can feint and blade.
    AoE hits are also really strong and good pip value. I would rather Scarecrow or Khrulhu than to hit with 2 other strong hits that may or may not drain, take more time, and more deck space. If we could have more cards usable at a time (maybe 12-14), then having a larger deck that is not just blade, trap, aoe could be stronger as we get the pips fast enough, and arc 3/4 enemies are great at disrupting that pattern.

Baba yaga is the kind of spell that should have been available with all of the myth minion spells instead of wasting a turn to summon one. I haven't been on for a couple months but i think aquilla is still the same as it was. The same kind of problems can be seen with the ice school as well. I know death wizards have that weird ass aoe dot spell that costs 10 pips for some reason. These K. I. Devs just work for a check they stopped caring years ago.

    I make my balance be a vary heavy hitter and also a tank kind but will support when needed right now lvl 99 with 102% and 32+ works great.

    i was farming darkmoor on my death and we had to let our storm hit because he didn’t know how to play any other role even though he had the lowest damage (90)😬

    When you are the same school as boss, plz dispel. Many people overlook this role.

    I understand why you would focus on people being too strict and narrow-minded about roles as it's something talked about less and definitely a valid concern, but I feel like this video overlooks or downplays the opposite problem, likely unintentionally, by glossing over it and conflating it with people just straight up not playing the game.
    People insisting upon taking up roles they are not built for is a problem. I can't tell you how many times I've been with Life wizards, usually when it's their first wizard, who are too overzealous about using their shiny new damaging spells that they refuse to switch to healing when playing with other hitters who can do it better but are getting KO'd with no recourse when the Life is RIGHT THERE.
    If you were to ever revisit the topic I'd personally like to see this side given a little more attention.

  • @gorillamasterofgaming5525

    Bruh people struggle with this?, even on my first wizard i was never thinking roles very much and i got through the game very fast. If i see i have only have 3 pips and an ice wizard has 7 pips + 3 blades im going support him to attack. just use your head people this game is not hard.

    Hey I have a question I’ve been thinking about starting a fire wizard is there anything I can get with my higher level storm wizard for my fire to improve early game quality of life? Is it possible to farm of my storm for my fire?

    • @KaiserNoah
      @KaiserNoah  Před 2 lety +2

      For early game, mainly a pet will be really good. I would also recommend getting monstrous tcs, which requires the rather tedious process of making another account, transferring the tcs to that account, and then back to the new wizard. But otherwise you should be fine!

    I understand, personally I like school identity, I hat running with storms who have only 4k or 5k health who get oneshooted tryna play jade. id only accept heals from a. life,balance,ice I feel like anything else is just pointless, like why would u be a storm have low health just to run around doing life stuff. it honestly makes no sense to me when u can choose what school u want 2 be.
