Steve Lemieux in his '70 Pontiac GTO powered by a 461ci Big Block Pontiac with kauffman heads, tremec tko 5 speed with a 12 bolt tru trac 4.10 gear rearend takes on Benjamin Hunter in his '09 Pontiac G8 powered by a stock gm 6.0 LS with milled heads, cam, 4 DP torque converter, stock 6L80 auto trans with a stock rearend with a 3.27 gear. What's even cooler these guys are best of friends and both got to line up together at Byron Dragway on day 4 of the 5 day '21 Hot Rod Drag Week. Steve competing in the street race big block/na category and Benjamin in the street race small block/na category had quite the race with Steve just barely getting the win.
If you think about the factors involved as far as power to weight goes, automatic versus shifting, rear end gears, tires etc it makes for some good conversations. Great Pontiac Action! At Byron no less! Looked like that GTO was running quicker than it did, but I know it would and has done better !. G8 didn't see much of it but very nice. You gotta love him towing in his tires to the track!
