  • When Rolls Royce got their white glove clad hands on a 2012 R56 Mini Cooper S they worked some very posh magic on the car to make it their own, and the most expensive Mini ever. In today's Modern Monday we take out a rare Mini Goodwood from www.stonecoldclassics.com

I strongly suspect that this is exactly what I've always wanted for a daily driver; small, nippy, fun with a quiet and high quality interior. Too bad I couldn't afford such a thing!

First I thought; 41.000,- pounds for a Mini? Ridiculous! Until you started explaining the car: it really justifies the price. The paintwork is amazing, same goes for that beautiful interior. The attention for detail by RR makes this car the perfect Mini. Perfect combination between luxury and sporty. Great review!

My wife and I have one and we love it. Bought it with 14K miles for $28K. It felt like a brand new car. You have to see the paint in person to appreciate it. Ours is one of the only 200 that came with a manual trans. I notice this one has rubber mats replacing the plush lambs wool mats that it comes with and ours is the same. The mats are too nice for daily use. The seats are more padded that standard Mini seats as well.

I do enjoy your videos; thank-you for them! I don’t think there was a three-seat option in the back of the 3-door. There was in the Clubman, though. I think the rear seat is too far forward between the rear wheel arches in the 3-door to allow enough width whereas the extra wheelbase in the Clubman does allow for it. We’ve had a 2009 R56 Cooper S automatic from new and the ‘Inspired by Goodwood’ sounds just like our from the outside: like a bag of nails! And that snappy gearchange is wearing after just a few km never mind the 100,000 we have done...

@@furiousdriving Indeed I am! That's my 15 minutes, okay 5 seconds of fame! It really is special. Others saying that a MINI for £41K is ridiculous, but I don't feel that it is. If you've got something like a Rolls Royce you'll be driven around in it, this is just something that you'd want (as you mentioned in the video) to just go to and from the shops. It looks really nice, but definitely doesn't look as special as what it is. It's a lot, but we're not the target market. Not sure if I'd want one of these over something like a JCW personally, but I definitely can see the appeal. Sure, £16K is a lot, but this is immaculate and how often do they come up? Definitely a collectors car that will be worth a lot in the future, I think.

The manual vs auto honestly I don’t care I loved driving the manual JCW and driving the Auto Goodwood was just as good. Different cars but both awesome. One thing you don’t get in the video is the smell of the leather in the Goodwood 8 years on and the leather smell is incredible. They are quieter than the Cooper S because the noise make was left out of the build in these cars. It was system used to make the Cooper S a bit more sporty sounding. Didnt even know these existed. Wasn’t there something similar in the early 80’s based around the clubman that was all trimmed out akin to an RR ? I want to say Wood & Pickett ?
