It’s very sad to see this beautiful man so thin and doing drugs he has helped so many people love you forever Boy George I’m so happy you’re back and healthy very blessed to have survived!!!!
George still has a marvellous voice today. I think what hurt about his drug addiction was that he was extremely anti-drugs at one point. He even said in a Terry Wogan interview that he was against drugs and would NEVER touch them.
But I've always liked George and probably always will as he's got a distinctive vouce and an infectious personality.
Yah. His voice was more distinctive in his youth vs today
Weird. I get the affects of drugs. I think that he's fabulous without them. I doubt he started singing with them. Glad he's not going on with them.
I have always been a fan of Culture Club and Boy George. A lot of people do not survive Heroin addiction yet George did. Unto better things Mister O'Dowd!
One incredibly smooth and beautiful voice.
+Marty Daymude.. Outright lip synchronizing, isn't it!!
Sawara Sunao most shows do lip syncing because they want the audio to sound near to perfect if not studio quality and lets face it,even today when someone performs on a show they lip sync.
I remember that all the group were all pretty good looking,I miss the eighties!
CC were so successful back in the day. The US market was the most difficult to conquer. Many British bands failed at that (Frankie Goes to Hollywood, for instance). In the 80's, every big hit entered the charts at a very low posiiton and would slowly climb.
CC had no less than 10 consecutive top 40 hits in the country: Do You Really Want To Hurt Me (#2), Time (#2), I'll Tumble For Ya (#9), Church of The Poison Mind (#10), Karma Chameleon (#1), Miss Me Blind (#5), It's A Miracle (#14), The War Song (#17), Mistake Number Three (#33) and Move Away (#12). Really impressive!
This is a great song! How did it not get #1
The song is about boy george relationship with jon moss is it i love this song
On this day in 1986 {April 5th} Culture Club performed "Move Away" on the Dick Clark ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'...
At the time the song was in it's first week on Billboard's Top 100 chart at position #68, nine weeks later it would peak at #12 {for 2 weeks} and it spent fourteen weeks on the Top 100...
It reached #4 on the Canadian RPM Singles chart...
Between 1982 and 1986 the British quartet had ten records on the Top 100 chart, six made the Top 10 with one* reaching #1, "Karma Chameleon", for three weeks on January 29th, 1984...
Lead singer Boy George, born George Alan O'Dowd, will celebrate his 57th birthday in two months on June 14th {2018}...
* The group just missed having two more #1 records when both "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me" for 3 weeks in 1983 and "Time (Clock of the Heart)" for 2 weeks in 1983, peaked at #2 on the Top 100...
He looks sober but its downhill. Sad but George is sober now and gets more and more beautiful. You can't blame others for your mental health nut it on and the other
Deborah Scofield in his book "Take it like a Man" he said he was smashed during this TOTP performance and almost didn't come out to perform because he needed to get a fix in. True story in his words ,not mine.
@@drpastry I read that in 1997. I read his Autobiography.
@@drpastry I never even read his book where can I buy it at?
@ zur anniversary party via George Alan O'Dowd aka "Boy George and Culture Club"/"facebook", 61 : "...our single, 'Move away', was released 37 years ago today in 1986 ! 'Move away' was the lead single from our 4th album 'From luxury to heartache', which reached no.7 on the 'UK Top 100 singles chart'..." (* thx for the cool info to "BGACC" !) !! ;-) *

Quite the looker, Boy George was. He definitely could rock the androgynous look, for sure.

The now-infamous drug hairdo.
