  • The beautiful yet simple Origami Lotus should be made with thin, yet slightly flexible paper so the petals dont tear in the last step. This design also works well for paper napkins :) Printable instructions are available at www.origami-fun.com

    You can use printer paper for this model, but strong, thin paper works best. The trick is to very slowly pull the petals up while you push from the other side. This video goes so fast that it's hard to see, but pushing from the other side is vital.

    You don't need special paper. I used normal printer paper for my first try and origami paper for my second and I got no rips or imperfections in either. You just need to be patient when pulling at the petals..

    I'm in agreement regarding paper size and flexibility, my origami paper is thin and I thought flexible, but it doesn't have the softness as the one in the video and impossible to pull over in the last stage - you really do need special paper and then it would be a lovely thing to make.

    • @plexq
      @plexq Před 9 lety

      I used 15cm paper, and the resulting flower is little - I had to do it three times before I could get it without ripping. The trick is that last bit where you pull the petal out is to roll it. Fold it to as far as you can fold, then gently pull on the petal and roll the paper over the corner whilst pushing the inside petal outward. It's very tricky the first couple of times. I have three very very ugly lotus flowers before I figured it out!
