    TRANSPOSE your MUSIC with the PROJECT ROOT KEY | CUBASE TIPS
    Did you know that there are several tools in Cubase to help you transpose the key of a full song quickly and easily?
    Today, we’re taking a close look at the Project Root Key feature to show you just how fast you can adjust the key of a song. (Available on Cubase Artists and Pro)
    This is a feature that we didn’t look at in one of my other videos on this topic, so be sure to check that one out as well if you haven’t.
    Between these two videos, you’ll know everything you need to fix the key of your song without wasting unnecessary time and mental energy!
    You can watch that video at this link: • How to quickly TRANSPO...
    Give it a try and leave me a comment to let me know how it works for you!

    Chris thanks a lotttttttt for keep inspiring the artists like me all over the world. I need your help very badly for one issue, which is how to hear the sound of midi from my external midi instrument which is Roland TB 03. I installed this synthesizer in Cubase Pro 11 and all settings are applied, its working well, like I can record midi and I can see the fader jumping, I can see the recorded midi notes but I dont hear any sound coming out of my recorded track. I tried all the ways of routings but no help. I called Steinberg tech support and they did the remote session but they also couldnt find the way to make it work, except adding the Roland TB 03 in the device input instead of my input of interface channel and I can only do one at a time and every time I have to keep changing the signals. I could not add TB 03 as an external instrument in Cubase audio connections section because the list Cubase have for external devices, it doesnt have TB 03 on that list. I googled it but did not find the best solution, BUT I found one person on google and he said " I dont know what I just did but I made TB 03 working perfectly fine in Cubase".
    So Chris you are the master of Cubase and I know you must have the right answer, how I can make TB 03 works in Cubase? If that person on google can make it work, so cant I. I will really really appreciate if you can help in this. Blessings!!!!

    I like to transpose the chord track so it reflects the new key. Also, after established, I go to the mini menu to transpose the selected mid notes to represent the correct notes for the new key. Otherwise it becomes confusing for me to see the wrong midi notes, for the pitches being played.

    If the drums are tuned to a specific key then why not change them too? Konferenz had a session where we tried two different drummers, the second asked which key the song was in and he tuned the kit accordingly, the difference was astounding, the drums glued right into the song, it was a real eye, or ear, opener for me, that was more than thirty years ago and I never forgot it and where possible I try to get the drummer to tune to the key and if not I’ll repitch the drums to fit 💪

ALso I know in the days of tape, they often recorded parts at 1/2 speed and octave down,and sped it up to full speed. Is there a way to do something similar in Cubase that doesn't degrade the sound quality?

    Great video! Question: Do you have a video or can you make a video on how you can force Variaudio to snap a vocal track to the key of a song? I feel like this should be possible, but I can't find any info on it. I like to highlight everything and just move the "Quantize Pitch" slider to autotune the vocals (lazy, I know). Sometimes notes don't fall onto the right note and then I have to go through and manually adjust, which is a time suck. Let me know! Thanks! Cubase forever!

    Hello Chris, Tech/Nerd question for you. Some VST soft always export tracks in Stereo but a lot of time the source Left and Right are exactly the same so without stereo information it`s in reality just a Mono track but just a little louder (Please correct me if I`m wrong) So what you be the advantage to keep this track as it is VS Converting it with Multi Chanel to Mono fonction in Cubase then deleting the extra tracks. I`m a Grumpy Old Sound Man and it freak me out when I see a Bass/Kick in stereo. Thanks for your time Stay Safe and Have a Great Weekend

      You're right and that freaks me out as well. There's no advantages to keep a kick drum in Stereo unless the kick sound has a room effect within the VSTi. I tend to convert those audio to MONO before mixing.

    Chris, as a professional composer and arranger, I find this confusing. Em is not E it's G.

    • @mixdownonline
      @mixdownonline  Před 3 lety

      Yes, correct Em is G. If your music theory is top shape, that can be confusing. This feature only transposes from one key to another by keeping the tonal model in place. So for me, if I'm in Em, I'm keep the Project Root Key at E. If I'm in D Dorian, I keep it at D. Just easier for my brain ;) But it doesn't matter much, The Project Root Key is just a feature where you establish a reference point to transpose your music.

    Why is it that most of you online cubase instructors that I have listened to DO NOT TELL US WHAT VERSION OF CUBASE YOU ARE INSTRUCTING ABOUT??????????!!!!!!!!!! Wtf?....

  • @pnartg
    @pnartg Před 2 lety

    This is a very limited definition of "transpose". All you're doing is making a fixed change in pitch up or down by a fixed number of semitones. In music it's often useful to transpose between keys but the "root key" in Cubase literally means "piano key" note, not 'key' as in key-signature. The clue is that there is no way to specify MAJOR or MINOR. So how would you go from, say C-Major to B-minor? You can't do that by just going up or down by a fixed number of semitones because your chords won't be diatonic for their scale degree.
