Chorus:
Now that she's back in the atmosphere
With drops of Jupiter in her hair
She acts like summer and walks like rain
Reminds me that there's a time to change, hey
Since the return of her stay on the moon
She listens like spring and she talks like June, hey
Hey, hey, yeah
But tell me, did you sail across the sun?
Did you make it to the Milky Way to see the lights all faded
And that Heaven is overrated?
And tell me, did you fall for a shooting star?
One without a permanent scar, and did you miss me
While you were looking for yourself out there?
Now that she's back from that soul vacation
Tracing her way through the constellation, hey, mmm
She checks out Mozart while she does Tae-Bo
Reminds me that there's a room to grow, hey, yeah
Now that she's back in the atmosphere
I'm afraid that she might think of me as
Plain ol' Jane told a story about a man
Who was too afraid to fly, so he never did land
But tell me, did the wind sweep you off your feet?
Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day
And head back to the Milky Way?
And tell me, did Venus blow your mind?
Was it everything you wanted to find, and did you miss me
While you were looking for yourself out there?
Can you imagine no love, pride, deep-fried chicken
Your best friend always sticking up for you
Even when I know you're wrong?
Can you imagine no first dance, freeze-dried romance
Five hour phone conversation
The best soy latte that you ever had, and me?
But tell me, did the wind sweep you off your feet?
Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day
And head back toward the Milky Way?
And tell me, did you sail across the sun?
Did you make it to the Milky Way to see the lights all faded
And that Heaven is overrated?
And tell me, did you fall for a shooting star?
One without a permanent scar, and then you miss me
While you were looking for yourself?
Na-na, na-na, na-na
Na-na, na-na, na-na, na, na
And did you finally get the chance
To dance along the light of day?
Na-na, na-na, na-na
Na-na, na-na, na-na, na, na
And did you fall for a shooting star?
Fall for a shooting star?
Na-na, na-na, na-na
Na-na, na-na, na-na, na, na
And are you lonely looking for yourself out there?

He’s up there in the milky way now. Rest well, Charlie.
I am sad to hear about this coming after Staind lost a band member too. Rest in paradise Charlie Colin.
💔💔💔💔💔
Very sad and a great song
58 and he slipped in a shower? Is that right? smfh :(
Didn’t he fell in the shower? I love the guy and band but the way he dabbed out was too anticlimactic.
RIP Charlie Colin, safe travels as you sail across the sun 💫

Meeee..Love it
I'm a straight up hip hop head, but yet this has been my guilty pleasure for the past week. Stumbled across it, and now it has a grip on me
🫡
RIP Charlie. Thanks for the music. 🌠🌌
Didn't know this song was written by the lead singer in honour of his Mum who died from cancer God bless her. ❤✝️🙏
♥️🙏🏼🎶💫✨
Really hits you knowing that
No. but Thanks! Love you!
god killed her
@seanwoodrum3658 I always thought the song said, "Manhattan is overrated". Thanks for clarifying my childhood doubts 😂
My younger brother committed suicide last weekend by overdosing on something. He was found with headphones on, presumably listening to something. This is his youtube account. He made a playlist containing 6 songs that was edited the day he passed. This is one of the 6 songs. With the method he used, he was dead after about 30 minutes, probably unconscious around 12 minutes. I like to think that it was peaceful for him with his music on. I love you Myles, I'll miss you everyday for the rest of my life.
i read this tonight and it broke my heart , i am so very sorry for your loss, i really hope as you said that your brother is finally at peace , please know i will be praying for you and your family , and please you do not mourn alone......you have my condolences, God Bless you.
Wow. I’m so sorry for your loss, I too hope this is what he was listening to and his final moments💔
Rest in peace brother 🙏💔
this really touched me
i lost my brother last year the same way. I want to say that I understand and feel you. I morn my brother for the rest of my life. Greif is just love but in a different way, sometimes people die in ways we wish didn't but all we can do is love. so I'm sending you love

I lost my mother on Friday morning. I always thought of her when I heard this song. I'd like to think of her wandering around up there. She could never sit still. Rest in peace, mom.
@@dwaynepatrick1016 my dad was 48, it's very sad. but thank you so much for the kind words, pal.
RIP Charlie…this song is relevant once again.
Didn't expect to see you here
This song has always been relevant it's a classic
RIP Charlie. Thanks for the memories that this song brings back.
My wife died in 2002 and I had to raise our son alone. A week after she died my son asked me "when is mommy coming home?" I lost it. How do you explain to a 5 year old their mom is gone. I did the only thing I could think of, I took him outside and showed him the brightest star I could find. I said that's your Mom. And he said oh, shes never coming home, she's in heaven now. She was a Sagittarius ruled by Jupiter. This song was popular around that time. Very hard for me to listen to, but still the best written song I've ever heard.
Even though so Sad… it’s A Beautiful Memory ❤️. Hope you and your son are doing well
Sorry for your loss. That's heartbreaking. 😢
@@twistedsunshine4484 Thank you. It was a very long time ago. That 5 year old turned 27 last week. Because of that loss, we are best friends and always have been. We are good.

My mother passed away unexpectedly 2 days ago. She was only 57.
She faced a lot of adversity in her life, but her soul was beautiful and unblemished.
I'll see you later. Rest easy mama. I love you!
Sorry to hear that she passed relatively young sir. My mom passed just recently in August at 90 years, living out a full and fruitful life. Rest in peace to your mom.

After his mother died, one night during his sleep, he talked with her. When he woke up, that song was in his head. It is no mere tribute, that song is a gift from his mother.
Damn
I. Didn't. Know the inspiration 4. The song
Paul Mccartney had the same type of dream. Mother Mary...is his mother.
Really???
@@TheRealShaanSolo Patrick Monahan said that-- almost a year to the day after his mother passed from cancer-- he awoke from a dream with her words ringing in his mind: "I'm back in the atmosphere". And that's what led him to write the song.
Damn. Rest in Peace Charlie! And thank you.
Rip Charlie and thanks for EVERYTHING you made special
I have recently been diagnosed with menieres disease, losing my hearing and constant tinnitus. Making sure I hear this while I still can. Best record ever made? It's got to be up there. The strings make it.
I’m so sorry keep your head up !

Many prayers for blessings sent your way
My first job at 17 was at a Burger King . I remember closing up my shift at the store and this song coming on the speakers. It would be 5 pm and I would look up and see my mom waiting in the bench outside for me. We grew up pretty low income and only had one car, which my dad used for work. She would walk from our apartment to my job at the ending of my shift. Afterwards we’d grab some decaf coffee and talk about our day. I’m 30 now and had my son in June. She passed a month later never getting to see him. I miss her so much it hurts, I think about her randomly sometimes and the shock/ pain starts flowing back in. Even though we didn’t have much growing up, her love kept me so happy I didn’t need anything else. Love you Aummi RIP.
You were truly rich to have such a loving mother. With your attitude, she must have been a fantastic parent. God bless you.
😢💔 my condolences
The souls that we cherish are the most beautiful the most fragile we see the pain and can't fix it leaving us gasping for air .. My mom died with a beer in one hand and a straw the other dying the way she lived with no boundaries no judgements I see her now laughing among the stars. She worked hard her whole life never getting past the 5th grade due to severe dyslexia living life thru such a small scope never knowing anything but poverty and disappointment. Kiss your son sing this song and Know in an Infinite Universe with Infinite possibilities you determine your happiness if you want to draw zombie comic books draw them if your happy making homemade soaps make break free of The Matrix and CREATE
that is so bittersweet
Thank you beautiful soul for sharing this. All I have to offer my kids is love and I worry that it isn't enough. I hope my children can think of me the same way you think of your mother when I'm gone. May her spirit be blessed and be felt forever more.
RIP CHARLIE. Thank you for the music

RIP Charlie Colin. Thanks for all the great memories! Gone way too soon.
The first real love of my life, her name was Summer, we were in 9th grade. This song had just come out in 2001. And this was "our" song. Good times. Funny how a song can take you right back to when you first heard it.
I dedicate this song to you, all of you. People who make this Saturday night less sad and alone in my bedroom here in Italy...reading your stories, your pure feelings from the heart let me think one day this world could be better...people with a heart, with own loves and sadly loss...thank you all for sharing your stories. I really love you, thank you❤️. I'll pray for your sisters, brothers, parents...
One day... but in the meantime let's keep loving!

In my opinion this is one of the best songs ever written.
Agreed
Mine as well
@Rich Jake probably because of the 1000's of people commenting. Doesn't make any single one of them right or wrong. That's what is great about music, it speaks to everyone in its own way.
@Rich Jake Key words, "in my opinion". It does not matter who says it or how many people say it, what matters is how frequently one person says it. Otherwise, you have to account for your bias.
yup

Lord works mysterious Ways.
It depends entirely on what kind of video you're watching. Discussions on videos on science or history or cats tend not to get too nasty. Videos on music from about the '70s and before tend to just have people who really like the music so everyone is like "they don't make music like this any more" "the music they make today is crap" "I remember when I was 12 and first heard this song" etc.
words can unify
a fabulous shimmer, a glow in your heart, im glitter lucky. pink, orange, green, blue, yellow painting the sky with the colors of hope. theres always a chance for a happy ending.
It's weird right!?
Pretty sure he's extremely existential with his word choice: "she listens like spring and talk like June" as a juxtaposition about his mothers spirit and the spirit of the universe. the fact that "heaven is overrated" lends me to the believe he's looking at the loss of his mother but her always being around the world he sees around him and his ability to both realize and appreciate it... but the ambiguity of the entire song is all is what makes it so beautiful...
It's basically a metaphor.
that's a beautiful translation of the song. it gave me cold chills. (english major, btw)
Beautifully worded
Bradley, I completely agree with you. It's a song written in memory of a loved one who is no longer here, but it's not sad as you'd expect a song of its kind to be. It's basically saying that you should be allowed to mourn, but you shouldn't be sad and depressed forever, as that's not what your recently deceased loved one would've wanted. They would've wanted you to find joy again, to find comfort in the memories you have of them. As long as you have those memories, they're never really dead, and you should find joy in those memories, keeping them close to your heart. I wouldn't want my friends and family to be sad and depressed forever after I'm gone. I'd want them to remember me as a funny, silly, goofy, loving person who'd hate to see them so sad, 'cause that's the kind of person I am.
my guess is that it is about the Galileo probe.
1. Drop of Jupiter - Galileo probe dropped into Jupiter
2.Did Venus blow your mind - Venus flyby
3.Did the wind sweep you off your feet - when in Jupiter's atmosphere it encountered heavy winds
4.Now that she's BACK in the atmosphere - went from earth's atmosphere to Jupiter's
5. Did you make it to the Milky Way to see the lights all faded - And are you lonely looking for yourself out there? - Tell me did you sail across the sun - Tracing her way through the constellation, hey, hey - This all suggests that space is being referred to.
However this is just my theory
This song literally saved my life. I was 21 at the time, addicted to weight loss pills, exercised to Tae Bo non stop and was truly trying to find a sense of “self”. It spoke to me about exploring life and the meaning behind it. Most of all, it encouraged me to not give up. Thank you for giving me a song that gave me strength to see to tomorrow.
I think it’s beautiful how many people use this song to memorialize their lost loved ones.
When my uncle passed away he wanted this song played at his funeral. He will be gone 20 years this Halloween, still can’t listen to this without crying. This one is for you Uncle Mike ❤️
This song is a dedication song to his mother, I think we can all relate
not just this song brother, a whole array of song I've connected to my mother before her passing, all of which had ironic meaning of what was to come. Never met someone that reminds me of her, but im constantly reminded of her by random things; which gives me superstition that she's watching me, even though im atheist.
I think it's sad! Loved ones lost? IDK, don't think its what its about! Mostly it's about money!
It's an intriguing bit of trivia imo
I recently lost my son to an overdose. He had been sober over a year & it was so unexpected. He always told me I was his best friend. This song invokes the memory of the bright light, so full of life in his smiling blue eyes. I know we are pure energy and consciousness is ever expanding, never ends, that he's dancing among the stars & I'll be with him again soon. I love you infinitely & unconditionally, Cameron.💫

"She listens like Spring and she talks like June"

Train is underrated and needs more credit, everyone has heard their music
2 Grammys is underrated?
Train is 2 different bands... after 2003, all the members changed except the singer... I'd be honored if some Drops of Jupiter fans would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of MEET VIRGINIA by Train and A THOUSAND MILES by Vanessa Carlton on my YT channel in tribute to the great music of the late 90s & early 00s. Live acoustic with no autotune. Thanks and peace out (as we used to say back then).
Sounds just like an above than average teenage band to me 😂
mmmm not really
trust me...they would be better off using cash
This song was written in memory of his momma who passed from cancer. I always thought of it as a romance song until now; and now I just cry hearing the lyrics.
Love my mom.

Totally agree
Yeah, some people just need to give up trying to rule the world
(don't look into one side or the other it stands for anyone and everyone that wants to rule over you)
The world gonna burn at the rate it's going. It's time to drop prejudices and lies and seek truth and chill.
I miss songs like this.
Honestly though
+Bella C they don't make them like this anymore
+Taimoor khan and when they try to they try way to hard and just mess them up.
They still make songs like this, the artists just aren't very well known.

Yes I'm here to say Condolences to Colin's family. I know as a mama it must truly break her heart to lose her son.
A fabulous musician, gone to soon - rest in peace Charlie Colin
Favorite Train song of all time. Also, proof that every song could use some bowed string instruments.
Oh, hi Rainbow Dash.
+GaM3RKiD17 Noup.
Truth!
my mom passed away in a car accident and this was her favorite song i miss you mommy Rest in peace
Everytime the saddness tries to overtake you, come here and listen to this song and remember all the good times with your mom. Remember, death is but one moment in our lives. It doesn't define who we were or what we stood for. I lost my mom 26 yrs. ago and I come listen to her old favorites and while there maybe a few tears, (yes, I still miss her)) there are many more smiles as I remember conversation snippets, times of closeness with her, goofy stuff she did with us and for us. I have a million memories of my mom, and I know you do too... dwell on those. I'm so sorry your mom passed, especially under those circumstances. Bless you ValentinasMommy. And I know for a fact it does get easier as time goes on. Chin up darling, you have at least a million memories that will make you smile. ♥
Sassy Chero my dad died when I was in 6th grade and every time I listen to this song it brings back such great memories
ValentinasMommy the song is about the lead singer losing his mother as well, so you can find comfort in the lyrics and in the fact that your struggle is not yours alone.
same. way
If I had a daughter like u dam i'd kill myself too
the star man .rest in peace
Such a happy song and for some reason I want it to be played at my funeral just because that's what I imagine doing after passing away. This is my favorite song of all time!
Every time this plays, I get to hear the love of my life sing his heart out. Grateful for that.
Marissa Zamora i do same thing glad not only one lmao
Damn I remember listening to this all the time when I was in middle school. Nostalgia is so good right now. I miss the early 90's and early 2000's. Music was so good. Today's music is shit. I'm going to build a time travel device, anyone want to travel back with me? 90's party here we come!
drew king let me know when you're heading back to the 90's. I'd like to go, too. My daughter was so little, music was great, life was good.

My dad passed away from cancer last September and he loved astronomy, science fiction and the "what ifs" that come with the genre. He was one who got me into astronomy and I like to think he's exploring the universe in between visiting us. Say "hi" to the Voyager for me, dad❤
Really hope this song gives you comfort, it's hard losing a parent, wishing you strength, hope and love
vger will say hi back RIP
Rest in peace C 💐
My dad died of cancer a few months ago...this week I am getting "he listens like spring and he talks like June" tattooed on my arm he was a June baby and spring was his favorite season this has always been my favorite song it means so much more knowing it was written about his mother who passed from cancer 💔
To the person who lost his brother, the 1st time I heard this song it touched my soul. I played it over and over for hours. Now when I hear it I'll think of your brother, and your love for him, carrying him out there, somewhere, beyond the stars. Peace and love be with you, the two of you have forever touched my heart as this song did many moons ago. See you both out there...❤❤❤
He sounded like a loser.
Love it ❤
Same here friend, that top comment did get me choked up the other day while playing this. Now anytime I hear this song may of not known him, yeah this songs for you Myles. Always. Hope you’re flying high up to Jupiter bud. 🤟🏻🥲
I lost my twin brothers
@@zechbailey427 I'm so sorry for your loss, twins had to be a unique family relationship. I've heard it's difficult when they lose their twin, but I'm sure the loss was equally great for you. 🙏🙏🙏
I DON'T CARE WHAT YEAR EVERYONE IS IN, JUST ENJOY THIS WONDERFUL SONG
I'd be honored if some early '00s fans would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of MEET VIRGINIA by Train and A THOUSAND MILES by Vanessa Carlton on my YT channel in tribute to 2 of the most iconic songs of the New Millenium era. Live acoustic with no digital editing. Thanks and peace out.
Thank Music is music no matter what year
Yea, the late 90s, 00s definitely had the best two decades of music an then everything else under the 00s, music now well if ya wanna call it music is a disaster! Train rocks, always has an always will

So sorry for your loss 😢
Sounds like u died, tragic
PEACE BE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!!! GOD BLESS YOU!!!!
🙏🏾
there are so many old songs.. that gives me the same feeling I had the 1st time when I listened to them
Maissa Star I agree
My dad listened to these :( I remember scrolling through the songs in his iTunes library...
I...
This song means a lot to me. My brothers and I all slept in the same room, in our old house....and now we're all scattered, growing up...I just helped my brother move out.
This song takes me back to those days when I didn't have to worry about anything, and everything was good. I don't want to grow up. If I could I would go back there and never leave.
Blades Before Babes
RIP Charlie. Thanks for some memorable music.
Repose en paix Charlie tu vas nous manquer
I didn't know he wrote this about his mom. That adds a kind of sadness that wasn't there for me before.
I just found that out tonight. We recently lost a friend to cancer and now I cannot listen to this song without ugly crying. Actually, the song makes so much more sense now.
I thought it was a love song about a women he fell in love with.
@@trollmagnet8265 He wrote it for his mum after she died.
Wow how hot is that I didn't know that he wrote the song about his mom either I thought it was a love song about someone that he fell in love with the lost your way
What I meant was I thought it was a love song about someone he fell in love with that sadly lost her way that's what I meant
