  • Relax as I show you a few baseball cards from my collection.
    Please help make my channel the best it can be and become a patron of my work at / relaxingasmr
    Back in the nineties, I brought home a few packs of baseball cards and introduced my son to the hobby. Not surprisingly, my wife (she's a baseball fan too) also became interested in the colorful little rectangles of cardboard. So was born a collecting hobby for the three of us.
    It was fun and exciting to see the values (false values as we know today), but that wasn't the point of the collection so I was never distraught when the baseball card market took a nosedive, never to recover. Many collectors like myself, though not actively collecting anymore, still have their collections from the nineties...for some reason lol.
    A Waste on money? Perhaps. A waste of time? That answer may depend on the joy and interaction with others that the hobby facilitated. For me, the answer is no, it wasn't a waste of time. Nevertheless, the baseball card collection is still fun to look at and thanks to You Tube; I have a medium in which to share the cards with others. We'll start out this series by taking a look at some of my "better baseball cards", and as the series progresses, you'll eventually get to see me weed out many of the baseball cards and thin down the collection. I hope you'll enjoy the series.
    If you know the current prices for any of the cards shown, please let me know in a comment. If you would like to see more videos of my baseball card collection, please let me know in the comment section. Thanks.

    This video was produced with relaxation in mind and hopefully has some ASMR qualities. Stress is harmful to your well-being and in today's fast-passed world, stress relief is more important than ever, and so I hope this video in some way acts as a stress-reliever for those watching as well as a sleep-aid for anyone having a difficult time going to sleep.

      America is better described as a melting pot. Lots of different people and feelings. Myself, I think small and prefer it that way. I'm blessed to be able to choose, but I(my family) do our thing, and the city's and government do theirs. Small town America I guess.
      I love your attitude.

    Do not lose hope on these cards. I too am a avid card collector. The market for baseball cards is getting back to where it used to be many years ago. Many of the cards you discussed in the beginning are still worth pretty close to what they used to be. You're sitting on a gold mine. Many people, including myself . Would be jealous of your stellar collection . Do not lose hope . You have one hell of a collection

    Awesome video! I used to collect baseball and basketball cards when I was younger. My grandparents would buy me cards every time they'd visit. Unfortunately, all of the card shops around here went out of business years ago :-/ I still have the majority of the cards my grandparents bought me along with other cards I acquired over the years. I think it's cool how you, your son, and wife all enjoy collecting.

    I know quite a bit about the market for these cards and the baseline I would suggest for the Ty Cobb would be no less than $100. The Bench/Morgan I would take no less than $150 on. The Alex Rodriguez sweet spot auto would still net about $80-90 on the market. The Harmon Killabrew would be $20. The Maddux would be $80-100. The Gwynn is an exciting card because late 90's and early 00's inserts have made a resurgence. I would value that card at no less than $150, but due to scarcity it could become more sought after. Not $600, but perhaps $250 at high end. The Gwynn Vanguard silver /10 would be another interesting auction. Perhaps $50-75. The Sammy Sosa Skybox premium /50 is still a fairly sought after card and would likely garner $30-50 on the market. The Tim Salmon card /24 comes from one of the most highly sought after sets of the late 90's and gauging value is hard, but I would estimate between $60-100 on that one.

    • @badradiocaller
      @badradiocaller Před 10 lety +1

      I think your values are high, no disrespect. With eBay and online sites, demand isn't high and therefore drives prices down.

    • @Caniacforever
      @Caniacforever Před 10 lety +3

      I trust enough about my evaluation. I have been in the market for twenty years. I'm just saying what I would consider market value for these cards, even on eBay. Some would do better and some would do worse, but the concept of giving these cards away due to some perception of the bottom having fallen out would be a disservice to the collection. Which prices in particular did you take issue with?

      @williamtcoker Před 4 lety

      BASIAN 87 the sports card market is as stronger and healthier than it's ever been. eBay sales on sought after cards, both current and vintage, are through the roof! Sure, junk era cards, late 80's thru late 90's, that were severely overproduced are still not worth much but that's likely never going to change.

    The Tony Gwynn card is worth a lot. Very rare card of a great player and popular athlete. The Bench Morgan card is a nice one. On eBay ppl are asking from around 150 to 400. You have some nice cards there that haven't lost much value. Finding a buyer can be difficult.

  • @Caniacforever
    @Caniacforever Před 10 lety +5

    I am quoting sale values as well on these cards. It's likely that the "book value" as in Beckett value, still has the cards in the vicinity of what your pricing looks like. But eBay has changed the game. The prices I quoted in my previous post are what you could expect to sell them for. I would by all means not entertain any offers *here* on youtube for these cards. Especially the lower numbered ones, because the value is in the scarcity. The Barry Bonds Brilliants /24 could be a $100+ card too. Incredibly hard to gauge value on those, but trust me when I say they're highly collectable. I would be incredibly interested to see what the rest of your collection looks like and if you have any specific examples of cards you'd like me to price I would be more than happy to do that. I could also potentially put you in contact with a reputable consignment dealer if you'd be interested. But I would be prepared to get your fair share of sharks sending you PM's about these cards trying to do some back door deals. It's a dirty business.

    @KUrbzVO Před 10 lety +2

    Some of the values of the cards may or may not have gone up. The A-Rod one probably took a nose dive after this year. But the Ty Cobb one certainly has some potential. I checked Ebay and Google shops, and mint conditions are valued at $199. Gregg Maddux may have lasting power as well, but not the $150 it was in its prime.

Some of the more valuable cards I have are a Joe DiMaggio jersey card that I purchased and a 1960 Sandy Koufax that I also purchased. Your J. Bench & J. Morgan "Big Red Machine" card recently sold on eBay for $150.
    I've got a Ken Griffey Jr. Upper Deck rookie which is worth now about $40, but was more than $1,000 at one point.
    Moral of the story: Buy low, sell high.

      It's about collecting not the money so that quote is worthless

      If, and only if, it's about the collecting then I agree. However, if it isn't then I have to disagree. Michael Andronic

    the Arod Sweet Sigs is booking for $200, the bench morgan 92 UD auto is booking at $80, those were the highest listed. I can assume the Gwynn sp auto is some where between $150 and $200 and im sure those Brilliance 24k book for a decent price if beckett still listed the set. i'll check an older book and get back with you Asmr

    That Ty Cobb card is cool. That bat has to be about 100 years old.

    For eBay it's very hard to say a card is worth $X dollars when you are only looking at what people are selling it for. Something is only worth what people pay for it so you have to check and do an average of what people actually paid.
