    Are the intel nucs reliable to run 24x7 , r u running yours 24x7

    • @ArjunAndVishnu
      @ArjunAndVishnu  Před 8 měsíci

      Yes, one NUC of mine is running 24x7 as a file server. The temps are around 70 degrees centigrade at load. One of the popular applications of the NUC is ATMs, so they will do alright even if run full time.
      It is the processing power of the low end NUCs that is in question. What's your application?, and which OS do you plan to use? Suitability will depend on those factors.
      Even this Raspberry Pi 5 is twice as quick at the NUC I reviewed in the other video.

      @@ArjunAndVishnu Currently I am running plex & emby server on my nuc, I am running windows as os, I know linux is better but my vpn do not have app for linux & realvnc support is broken on linux.
      I was using raspberry pi 4 for that purpose but the latest bookworm os is kind of buggy, so finally I decided to use the spare nuc that I got for 4999 to run windows

      Great, since you have the NUC already, there is not need to think of other options.
      The NUC is actively cooled, and the temps are very much in limit for the SOC. The power consumption of the unit is around 20 watts, but, it is equipped with a power supply rated for 65 watts. It means the unit will get very stable voltage since it is running lean.
      I have not seen the other side of the board, and I cannot confirm if it has solid-state capacitors for the VRM. Considering that it has a 10 watt processor, I don't see the VRM playing a big role in determining the lifespan of the NUC.
      With cooling and power taken care of, you are good to run it 24x7x365.
