This was my childhood game from 2007-09.There has never been another game like getamped ever since.
This game had A LOT of potential. Getamped 3 might have been a big thing today if only game developers weren't so obsessed with milking the players for money.

Both Splashfighters and Getamped 2 live rent-free in my head. I've spent SO much hours on both games.
Played GetAmped1 since 2002 beta release China. Then played it through 2 hosting companies in North America. Witnessed names/ guilds on ranks list changing through out time (the guild I found was once top 3 in NA). It was and will always be my top game. I bet some of you might still remember me if I mention my game ID. Good luck on your life journey, my dear friends.

I used to play this game so much since I loved the combat, weapon variety, and the ability to change character skins.
It was also my first time experiencing the P2W formula lol

Anyone that says Getamped 2 is better than Getamped 1 in "every way" really gives me question mark. Getamped2 didn't upgrade GA1 combat at all instead it downgrades it. It did upgrade the others ONLY in terms of PVE and Community wise systems. Imo, Getamped 2 is just a cash grab compared to GA1. GA 1 is superior in combat wise whereby actual competitive players would prefer to play in GA1 than in GA2, Ga2's combat is utterly trash if you ever played GA1.

I found this game on anime websites way back, I saw dragonball characters and other popular MCs like Naruto and thought: Damn an epic chibi anime fighter? let me try it out, the rest was history..
Come to find out it was just skins, but the game really had an insane customization of movesets, where you could combine any Style (Class) with any Accessory (Weapon) and add in actual weapons into combos (Bombs, Bats, Boomerangs,etc) alongside with an Inherit, which was usually one move taken from another Accessory or even NPCs you've beaten before to make a unique fighting style and kit that you've wanted to do for fun or competetively, I LOVED IT.
Granted I played mostly casually and spent most of my time in my Igloo making skins and chatting with visitors in my room asking me to come play when I just wanted to finish my new skin xD, I was an artist so I loved that part of the game, had friends that also were into the art but made BGMs from a lot of different series like Pokemon, Batman, Starwares and lots of anime OPs.
(Still got the BGM files for that, I can probably upload them to mega upload and link it here later if people are interested, mans had Link songs and even Lugia's song, Tekken, Mortal Kombat,etc)
This game really had it all though, PVE, PVP, Story modes, quests, events, guilds, room customization, char customs, bounty hunting and dungeons like an MMO, wished that in the 3 years where they slowed down, that they were just remaking everything to make GA3 and release it in 2020 or 2021, but in the end they just closed the US one and left it at that..
Still had a lot of different weapons I wanted to gain and try out cause it was just fun to try them out wether you won or not, there probably will never be another game like this..
My Favourite styles will forever be Beastking, Knightgear and Berserker, alongside with Tactical Gloves, Impact Gloves, Taekwando, Capricorn, Pointing Finger, Ice Tiger claws and wep: HAMMER.
Getamped 2 really had the most diverse set of people I've met and only this game could make my blood boil badly back then, I was a rager as a kid and had a lot of anger problems, I kept it chill for the most part in the game and it helped me grow a thicker skin and be more chill and easy going with my new found friends, most were seen as toxic, but hey every group disliked another one, we were all petty sweaty kids after all, but even now if I ever get mad at a game (Rarely) or nervous or upset/sad only GA2's could actually get my heart pumping nervously when I get low in a match that was high stakes in either a tournament, guild war or just trying to shut somebody up that was being a mean just because they felt like they were better.
I never liked that feeling tbh, but it's weird how only this game made me feel like that, while other games rarely have me nervously sweating or feeling cold and tense in a tough moments..
I've never heard of this series until just recently. It seems like an underrated MMORPG title. Cause there aren't too much results for this game on CZcams. And it's a shame that the game officially closed down, but at least it still has a few servers and an active player base. I'm big on character customization, (I was very surprised at the unlimited customization) and Smash Bros. like fighting games, so I'd like to give it a try sometime. Hope it's not too late now.
TW is still up but to me its not opening for some reason. So if yoi ever find s video on how to play the TW version that would be very helpful

Getamped (1) was very big in my country (Philippines) Back in the day, Wasn't sure why it wasn't that popular when it came to the sequel but I think Getamped 2 is probably the best sequel they could've made. The combat system is easy to learn hard to master type of gameplay. Been playing on Taiwan server for 2 years now and how every veteran played is insanely difficult to fight against. Also I think I saw you in TW a few times now, let's play sometimes, my name now is my name ingame. I also make content, on ga2, SOMETIMES.
I still play all asian servers from America, GetAmpeD never die

great vid! Still play the soundtrack here and there. It had a similar play style to another beat 'em fighter called Lost Saga. Sadly it closed in 2019. Only Rumble Fighter seem to be available.
i really miss this game
I remember the Dojo fights, god those were frustrating. The first fight with any npc is tame, sometimes even easy, some second fights can be tricky, like Dolores starting to use her rapier and by god the lunge attack hurts like hell. Third fight for any npc is a continuous death experience, they become beefed up to insanity and no matter what styles, accessories and skills you have, fighting them head on is borderline impossible as their most basic attack strings chunk away a large portion of your hp and the AI begins to cheat by perfect blocking over half of your attacks and countering the rest. It's also at maybe the 2nd fight and definitely at the 3rd that you start thinking up ways to cheese these fights for example:
Dolores' fight is cheesable with the Lion Mask, since it takes place on the beach you can get up on the umbrella and start spamming hold heavy to drop firecrackers on her head from the safety of the umbrella since the AI usually takes a while to understand in order to reach you they need to jump on the platform you're standing on, Dolores takes extra long to understand that, because she just loves to spam the rapier lunge attack.
Master Saga, Nobaru, Seagal and other 1 on 1 fights can be cheesed by keeping them groggy, simply jump over them and do a jump attack on their back so they can't block it, when you see they're groggy(arms lets down with exhausted expression) keep hitting them to maintain the groggy status, but be sure to not knock them down otherwise they'll get up in their default state and you'll have to fish for the groggy state again.
If I'm not mistaken there is also a Dojo fight where you face off against the entire Omusa Squad who are basically the Mad Midget Five from God Hand and boy do they fight like it, they will gank you to death and the groggy exploit will only work if there is one of them left. You can employ hit and run tactics, but those don't tend to be the safest option. Fortunately, you can exploit this with the Lion Mask, jump up on the dojo's roof and get close enough to the edge so your firecrackers land on them, if one of the Omusas jump on the roof, jump off do some running, go back on top of the roof once it's vacant, rinse and repeat until all of em' are dead or it's the last Omusa standing and you can just groggy-lock them.
Taiwanese here playing GetAmped 1 still... GetAmped 2 and GetAmped 1 are both officially run by cyberstep here, but only GetAmped 1 is still getting new updates, weapons and gears... GetAmped 1 is a LOT different from what you remembered it to be on taiwanese server as well, you should really check it out :D

Indeed. Especially you can get your favorite characters in both getamped and VRChat for free. Unlike fortnite you have to buy thousands of dollars for that
