- Embark on an emotional journey through the Mana series in this Japanese trailer for Visions of Mana. In this adorable Japanese trailer for Square Enix's upcoming action RPG, we get a peek at the series, starting with the 1991 game through the forthcoming entry set to release in 2024--all told through the eyes of a child into adulthood and their experiences playing the games.
Visions of Mana will be available in summer 2024 on PS5 (PlayStation 5), PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Windows, and Steam. - Hry
There should be an American trailer where he buys secret of mana. And then illegally downloads all the roms for the games we never got.
Per non parlare di noi Italiani….
Underrated comment.
The 90’s American should go to a sketchy basement and buy floppy disks from a hooded figure so he can take them home and use them with his aftermarket SNES floppy disk backup drive. 😂 he should have all sorts of strange accessories like XBAND and the super scope 6
The only Mana series game we never got at the same time was 3. Pretty sure we got all the others localized at the same time (though sometimes under different names)
lololol
Did..... did they just emotionally blackmailed us into buying this game through a trailer...
Aye. They sure did.
Emotionally, and nostalgically!
They absolutely did 🤣🤣🤣
did... did you just describe marketing?
That's what's called marketing. 😂
Now this is how you do a trailer for a long running IP. Just lean right into the warm fuzzy blanket of nostalgia
What's an IP???
@LeeRoss-dy7yl Intellectual property. Examples like Fromsoft with the Souls series or Nintendo with Zelda.
@@LeeRoss-dy7yl technically, a company's golden baby
it's really cleverly done!
Yeah it sold me for sure.
Whoever made that commercial needs a raise... let's just hope it captures the original magic of the early games of the series.
I'm pretty sure it's a team of individuals, not just one person.
Don't wanna be that guy, but this type of commercial is widely used in Japanese media, actually. Specially in games.
It’s called “nostalgia”
That’s the itch we need to scratch! Lol

No one. No one who wasn’t there in this magical time can understand what gaming was like then.
Every single game was an adventure. A journey.
Nothing like this was ever seen before. The beginning. The original. When we played a JRPG it was like diving into a world that became real the moment we turned on our console.
Way before competitive online ranked, self promoting social media or let’s plays.
No internet for walkthroughs or reviews.
Just you and the game, completely diving in into a world that was alive.
When gameplay and story mattered more than graphics and frames.
Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 7.
All these gems that brought the characters and story alive.
Those times will never comeback. Gaming will always evolve. But we were there when it was in it’s purist form.

This put a tear in my eye. That era of gaming and life was special. That sense of wonderment we had as kids growing up on games and cartoons. Daily life try to force us to give up what we loved but it's hard because it keeps us alive. That's the real point of this trailer
like it dropped a tear in your eye? 😅😊

English subtitles were legendary, lol.
"Visions of Mana; Legend of the Government"
Lol
It's an election year, after all :)
"seiken" means political administration, way more than it means holy sword lol

It's "Legend Of Yanatsugaki Ken" for me.
Who is the mysterious, titular character known as "Ken"? Can't wait to find out.

The video game industry has been around for so long that it's now possible to create trailers like this, touching upon the emotional journey of growing up with certain titles.
It’s a beautiful thing!
It's like a watered down version of what the did for FF7R.
🙄 sega did this in the 90s
it's just toys. humans have been making toys for centuries.
People say that at some point in time, old age homes will be filled with _Halo_ on Xbox
The song when the boy picked up that game at the beginning.. holy nostalgic time traveling
It warms my heart that Square Enix used nostalgia in honor of their Mana/SD games. Melodies from Legend of Mana OST for the ps1 will forever be engraved in my mind.
No idea what he's saying, but this trailer really made me smile.
You know exactly what is happening, because we all felt this growing up too. Unfortunately, square didn't let us Americans have some of the games when they came out. :(
Try putting on the captions and use auto translate. It translates pretty well.

all japanese ads are like this lol
My guy lost friends as he aged. Most relatable video ever 😅

Still got his game on though 😂
Should have change the final scene with him introducing the last game to his son/daughter.

What an amazing heartwarming trailer
Laughed when 2006 went widescreen haha
Widescreen = funny
Why?
@@vincevvn because it was subtly witty. Something that is tragically rare these days.
@@SussedRage Going widescreen to show the passage of time is a trope these days, it's one of the most common things you can do now lmao.
But it really works here as the original games were 4 3. Very smart
its incredible japanese as a culture is very quiet and reserved in their own personal space that being said their creatives minds always put their emotions in their craft like the shout their emotions through it and is interesting they make so emotional, wholesome and nice media stuff like this
His country neighbours would disagree on that...
I'm definitely gonna buy this game because of the legendary title, Visions of Mana: Legend of the Government.
The nostalgia ended after Mana 2. Played Secret of Mana on console and love it. Waited like 15 years before playing Mana 3. Never knew Mana 4 exists.
SAME
Seiken 4 is Dawn of Mana. Not that great of a game, honestly. It's divided into chapters, or stages, and your level resets every time. May be the weakest title in the franchise.
Mana 3 is still my favorite and it was legendary. shame they initially just didn’t have the english version to let more players around the world to experience it.
Play Legend of Mana. Story is minimalistic, but the art is amazing.
Dawn of Mana has a legendary soundtrack and is more action adventure focused so it's divisive
I've only ever played the remake of Trials of Mana and yet; watching this made me feel weirdly nostalgic.
now this is how you do a nostalgia Trailer 🤘🏻😭👍🏻
Amazing trailer. Mana has one of the best and simple stories I've ever virtualy lived
This is how you do it. Stay true to the source material, recognize your audience - the players that've been with you for decades, and build on that nostalgia! Not everyone played Mana, but imagine this with Final Fantasy or Pokemon. Imagine playing FF7 in the 90s and seeing that 2D flat land, and then playing Rebirth and seeing it in glorious dynamic lands, imaginations coming to reality. This is the 90s kids re-era for sure!
We need more trailers for long running series like this, just absolutely tug the heartstrings of nostalgia.
This hit home, me and one of my best friends played the Secret of Mana coop.....he passed away 2 years ago. But it was a wonderful memory. Glad this series is getting love.
This was honestly so beautiful! I've only played the Game Boy game and some of the SNES one, but this got me in my feels.
SNES has TWO Mana games: Secret of Mana, and then Trials of Mana (aka Seiken Densetsu 2, and then Seiken Densetsu 3... since Seiken Densetsu 1 was the gameboy one ;)
What a sweet, beautiful trailer. Especially for those of us who indeed played the first games back in the day.
Square is tugging hard at our heartstrings and i'm all for it.
Speaking a language that transcends words here. The shared experience of the love of this series of games across the years binds us together.
the 90s and the 00s was one of the best times that could never be experienced ever again
This shows the older you get, you're going to get fewer friends.
This trailer actually put tears in my eyes. Spectacularly done!
That is how you do a trailer! Damn that was amazing and it was heartfelt! Even if you have never played this game you can feel the joy!
That last time jump was 18 years and the guy barely aged. I’m about the same age as this guy, looked the same age as him 1991-2006, then in 2024 he looks 20 years younger than me.

Then randomly one day you wake up and look like a turtle.
Japanese people age only when they turn 60.
Captured the essence of childhood. Well done!
It's curious that in Japan, it's not called "Seiken Densetsu 5", perhaps because of the years it took to return the franchise (not counting spin-offs, remasters and remakes)
Or perhaps because they know it does not have much in common with the other games of the series.
There was a lot between 4 and now so maybe its one of those “fresh start” deals
Might have something to do with it there being more time since Seiken Densetsu 4 and Vision of Mana than between the first game and the fourth. And maybe them wanting to forget the latter ever happened.
@@Llortnerof SD4 is IN the video
@@SophisticatedHermithm. If you didn't know better the casting lineup mirrors Secret of Mana (SD2) pretty much exactly.
Whoever came up with this commercial deserves a raise solely based on how they managed to make me nostalgic for Dawn of Mana of all games
Secret of Mana and Trials of Mana are two big childhood videogame memories for me. Seeing that intro for the first time in SOM especially was such a mindblowing experience for me.
Visions of Mana is shaping up great and waiting for it in anticipation!
How nostalgic, a perfect feeling
That 1993 part hit hard! Thats my favorite game of all time. Only thing could pull me away from Saturday morning cartoons was that game. 🤔
that literally put tears in my eyes. evolution of gaming while growing up. remember how we loved all the video games we played back in the days when we were young? that feeling? this memory is beautiful and sad. but we still love playing video games!

2:15 - So depressing… starts out with a young boy in a sunlit room. Next clip he has friends, by the end of it, he’s a lonely adult desperately reliving his childhood in a dark apartment. This reality of this is so sad.

Nah.
Japanese Salaryman. 105 non-working days a year.
Expected overtime every day.
He doesn't have time to play.
The game will just sit there and he will look at the box it before he falls asleep.
Assuming he falls asleep in his apartment as opposed to passing out in the street.
Wait, scratch that. It's a digital DL so there isn't even a box to look at.
That is Japan for you my friend.
That’s why it hits hard a lot of us can relate my man.
It’s amazing to see how the games and graphics have evolved since the 90s. Now it seems like the graphics have sort of stopped improving or maybe it is but harder to notice the differences.
that was beautiful nostalgia, him in connecting the video cable on the tv :)))

This, right here, is what Life is about. Nothing comes close to capturing that feeling whether it’s Zelda or Final Fantasy or even Mario. It’s called Magic.
💀 they skipped legend of mana
Huh?
In the timeline, of the order the kid played the games in yes. However, the games they didn't show the kid playing were all shown in the trailer including the remakes
it was shown at 2:05
It was as front and center as the others but there was a second of footage.
in my black mirror cognition, now the little kid grown up and became a random average japanese white collar who can't play games anymore because he has to work 7 days on 7, 20 hours a day in square enix offices
This is one of the best commercials ever!
They just hit right in the feelings
Yes show every game except the game you're actually trying to advertise.
If you've been playing seiken games for nearly 23 years, you know what to expect already, hence why the need to show what the game is about is unnecessary
Ok. That told me nothing about the game
Man you dont see this type of commercials alot anymore. made me feel really nostalgic.
You've spent your whole life playing this game!! Here's another installment!!
square enix again using nostalgia as a marketing propaganda for adults since they don't know how to connect with younger generations anymore.
