I doubt Jasper will remember but in 1972 he was the resident comic/folk singer in a hotel (the name escapes me) in the middle of Guernsey. Four sixteen year olds were on a six week holiday living in a tent and picking tomatoes nearby and we’d be in the hotel bar every night…sometimes the only people there! We earned £3 a week and even at Guernsey prices usually had to make a pint last all night. On a few occasions he came and sat with us a bought us a drink and had a chat with us. We got to know his act as well as him after a while but it was great seeing him on television a year or so later and doing so well for himself. Top bloke.

Love Jasper Carrott - My dad worked for DJM in the 70s and promoted Jasper Carrot. I always wondered if the chap he mentions in the bit about going to Radio Solent and the BBC DJ playing 'Magic Roundabout' in 'An Audience With..' was my old dad. I guess I'll never know. I really enjoyed this video thank you.
Saw him live in Bournemouth around 1999 - Amazing shows. My sides still hurt. His retorts to the hagler's are not to be missed. One guy kept shouting out loud and Carrot replied "If I had wanted to hear from an asshole I would fart!" :) You had to be there.

I am grateful to my late gran (RIP) for introducing my sister and me to late night radio in the 1970's - James Stannage (please pardon the spelling) Piccadilly Radio 261 in Manchester and, as well as Bob Williamson, there was Jasper Carrott! We were hooked. I even got JC's book 'A Little Zit On The Side' for Christmas and read it from cover to cover and back again.
My ex-girlfriends golden retriever gate crashed his family picnic in Kenilworth (2012) and ate several of his sandwiches... he wasn’t best pleased haha - but he’s a great comedian!!

You named it 'The Boggery,' and I still have an orange strip of paper, for the window of my car saying: 'I'M A BOGGER'. Also photograph of Jake Thackeray on stage there, with 'Jill-the-Body', watching. You used to open the evening by singing a few songs & playing guitar, to warm us up, before the (expensive) artiste came on. You would often lean on your guitar and tell a joke, between numbers, and it happened that you gradually reduced the songs, and increased the jokes, until the guitar was only for leaning on, pointing in the direction that your career would go. However, I remember one unforgettable night, when you sang the song "One Meat Ball." You finished with: 'You get no gravy with one meat, you get no gravy with two meat, you get no gravy with three meat.......' This was where you intended to finish, but some devilment swept over the audience, and we continued; "You get no gravy with four meat;' and on and on, and on. You started off enjoying the joke, but after about 'fifteen meat.....' you started trying to get us to stop. You asked nicely, then you begged, then you came on a bit tough. By about: ' You get no gravy with thirty meat.....' You left the stage, but we carried on. Finally, somewhere around 'Fifty meat.....' You turned all the lights off, and the heating system, and so we slowly wound down to a halt. I hope you remember, because I reckon that most of that night's audience must remember. Two of the blokes at your house, were 'Mac' & Dave'. no surnames. And the lovely Josephine lived there too - I have never been dumped so gently. Then there were the Carol singers: in their school uniforms, singing beautifully, & collecting for a good cause. when they had finished, you, virtually twirling a villain's moustachio, invited them in for coffee. Only two out of about five accepted.(nervously) But that evening was the start to a love story which makes 'Romeo & Juiiet' look rather ordinary.
I remember going to The Boggery and correcting him for saying the Villa manager's name wrong, Doug Saunders, much to Jaspers's amusement and piss taking of me.

Then I think of the 'comics' of today, like russel brand, james corden, ricky gervais, frankie boyle for some good examples of unfunny turds. Then there are the likes of ramesh whatshisname, nish kumar and reginald d hunter, as these three always manage to mention 'race' in any jokes they attempt to make, and seem to be over promoted these days, especially on panel shows. Oh for days of Jasper, Dave Allen, Tommy Cooper, Jim Davidson, Billy Connolly and a few more from those years providing entertainment.
I love Jasper Carrott, but there is always someone pulling other comics down in the comments. Gervais is an excellent comedian. Romesh Ranganathan (have the decency to refer to someone properly) scarcely mentions race in his comedy, so that is a lazy opinion. You might be able to appreciate those comedians if you put more effort into understanding them. Incidentally, Jasper's daughter Lucy was excellent in The Office.

Saw him recently and he raised the comedy bar so high he will never be bettered. He is also a bloody good musician. Top man.

2014 I think. He refers, to 1989 as 25 years ago and one of his writers taking 25 years to get Peaky Blinders made. Peaky Blinders came out in 2013.
