📃 Here's a helpful tutorial on how to fold your own copy: • How to make a zine fro...

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Once you've downloaded your own PDF copy of the zine at the link above simply print it on A4 paper (card stock would be best, but use what you have)
2. For best results print in 'fine' quality, or whatever the best option available is. The zine does have some colour elements, but it will work fine in black and white format too.
3. Carefully fold & tear, following the instructions in the tutorial video (linked above)

'In Case of a Creative Emergency' is a list that I bashed out on my typewriter in November 2022. I was facing some pretty bad creative block at the time. I hit the wall of creative block often, as do literally all people who do creative things. I wanted to come up with a list of things I can turn to, when facing the wall of resistance, in order to smash it down and keep going. The list was made up of things that I gave a few days to think about. I tried to draw on my own experiences of what has worked for me in the past, but there are also examples here of things that I haven't really tried yet, but things that I think the use of would certainly help me to exercise my creative muscles.
What started as a list for myself to overcome times when work is a struggle has now developed into a weekly video series where I approach each exercise/idea in an attempt to inspire others. In an incredibly strange and meta way, I've actually overcome creative block by making myself incredibly busy making videos about how I overcome creative block, which in turn helps me to overcome said creative block because I have lots of work to focus on. Like I said, it's all very confusing.

A Spirited Man.
Unsure how my algorithm found this for me but I'm glad it did!
You and me both! Ha, thanks man.
Me too! The algorithm works in mysterious ways...
Thanks for the download. :)
I don't think I've heard of the word zine before this video, but now I'm thinking about making one. I remember when I was younger I loved to make pretend magazines, so this kinda brings me back a bit.
I used to make comic books when I was younger! I feel like a zine is the natural progression of that.
I teach students who are reluctant writers and readers and one thing I like to have them create are zines because the reading and writing demand is in their control, based on what they choose to create. I am very excited to share your video with them and add your zine to my collection. I am hoping one of them will discover that one of the zines on display is the one in the video . A few of them will think you and I are amazing for figuring out how to make that happen-like magic!
This is cool! I also made a zine recently that consists of my short poems 😊 i truly love the process of making zines. Thanks for sharing your work!
Thanks Luna. I'd love to check that out!
oh god the baby and kiss at the end. adorable
I love zine-making, I crave doing it pretty often, but sometimes truly blank on what to make it on, despite knowing zines can literally contain anything in them. This video was such a succinct but inspiring watch!
Thank you! I keep a notebook on me and write down scribbles I pick up here and there. There’s always ideas in there to make into a zine!
Glad I watched this video! I was getting bored and now I have something to do
First visit to see your films. It was nice that you made a zine, and as it turns out, made a baby too 😄
Downloaded. Will be printing at my nearest Library on my next day off work! Can't wait to have a little flick through!
I love that I've ended up here. I've felt myself drifting away from regular space, and to find creativity focused in the real world is weirdly refreshing. I love the physical sense of art and creating, and I've glad this is getting picked up ❤
Thank you!
This is such a good idea! I’ve just started watercolour painting & now I’m thinking of making a mini watercolour zine. Thanks for the inspo!
That sounds great! I’d love to see that when you’re done.
This is awesome, I did not know that existed Zines - nice. Thanks Andrew, as always a good inspitation.
Thanks Raph! 😎
can't wait to print this zine (and have my first zine made by somebody else)!
great work man!
Thanks!
A lovely video :) A blend of the analogue and digital is something so cosy, tactile and fun at the same time.
Also, I love your typewriter! What model is it?
Thanks Kimberly. My typewriter is the Brother Deluxe 760TR - I managed to pick it up cheap on Facebook Marketplace!
That is such a score! @@AndrewLavers
Pain! For some reason the link is saying the file's deleted.
The link should work now!
Hell yeah, you're the man @@AndrewLavers !! Thanks for the constant inspiration / motivation to keep plugging away at the creative journey 🙏🏼
Mate this is a random question, but what printer is that? do you recommend it for zine making?
I bought it for £10 on Facebook marketplace. It’s perfect for me, but rather than recommending that exact printer, I’d encourage you to just find the cheapest second hand printer and scanner you can. That’s all you need :)
Hi Andrew I'm a recent sub to your fantastic channel - I've been wondering how you achieve your wiggly typewriter/handdrawn effect. Is there somewhere you could re-direct me to. Cheers
Thank you Josh. I followed a really simple tutorial here - czcams.com/video/G_FaIW5cugg/video.html
Still don't know what a zine is or why I should make one
Download it, read it, and see what you think.
Mmmm🤔
