- I had a thought, what if I turned a super big three winged bowl? And then I did. Come check the video out and see what I did. There was drama, fear, joy, and even moments of sheer terror. Hahahahaha but I survived. Oh all of this was made from scrap wood and plywood

This one made you like a kid in a candy store giddy!🤣
I love how it turned out especially that round brick spot!😊👍💖
That bowl is bloody brilliant.
Thank you Chasten.
Ken
Wow! Turned out awesome. But scary too... You are a madman - but I like it. 🤩
Thank you. It looked scarier than it was. A little theatrics on my part. But still scary to turn. lol
Ken
Beautiful.....love the color pattern
Thank you.
Ken
Wow, that turned out great!
This was a fun turn
NEVER SEEN ANY ONE JUST RAW DOG IT LIKE THAT. GREAT JOB. COOL HOW THE SMOKE CAME OUT OF THE SIDE WHEN YOU WERE BRANDING IT.
That wood was way cool. My mother bought this for a friend. Big hit.
Ken
Great! I’m going to try this tomorrow! It’ll be a smaller version, around 6” cube. But it’ll be fun!
It was super fun to turn.
Ken
Awesome informational educational video experience Y'alls
Thanks Steven.
Ken
That is gorgeous!
Thanks. It was scary to turn for sure.
@@MoonpieCreations It was worth it.
That was fun to watch. Great work, Ken!
Super fun to turn also. A little scary but fun lol.
Ken
WOW, that was quite a project. Really came out great thought.
Thanks Paul. I really am humbled by your comments on this bowl the other night.
Ken
Such a goofball - but a talented one. That turned out fantastic, Ken!
Goofball in my middle name thank you very much
Ken
Wow you sure put the work into this one, and it really shows! What a bowl! Another one of those "watch your fingers" turnings lol keep them coming buddy!
Kyler
Thanks Kyler, I was nervous about busting my knuckles so I kept a watch out for them. lol I've got a few more ideas for some cool bowls.
Ken
Love it, no guts no glory. Thumbs up my friend. 👍👍😎💜
hahahahahahaha, you ain't lyin' there. Thanks.
Ken
Cool piece, Ken! Me likey! Plus it's a good way to use up scraps.
Billy
Yes, great use of scraps. Thanks Billy.
Ken
I was waiting for the sanding sealer, yorkshire girt, etc before the applying the finish, but then I like the high shine wax finishes, never really been happy with just lacquer. Interesting blend of coloured woods, though I would have skipped the plywood layer.
will S I was hoping the plywood would add something to the mix. I’m still not sure I like it either.
Ken
That was fricking cool!!
Thanks Jim. It was a fun turn
Nice looking bowl Ken
Thank you Justin.
Ken
I started fearing for your life right at 2:58, and I didn't relax until 12:22!
It's all about the camera angels. lol Thank you
Ken
Awesome bowl!
Thank you Matt.
Ken
Rookie Turner here. Wondering if you could make the square and cut it in half to make two tri-winged bowls saving all of that work and wood?
Yes I think you could do that, but it would change the outcome look of the project. I would be super hard to cut and you would be turning a pyramid rather than a square. This turning used the high corners rather than the lower comers to make a larger bowl if that makes sense. I still think your idea has merit. Maybe I could try something similar if I could figure out how to make a large enough square and cut it.
Ken
Moonpie Creations I thought about support the square and then cutting with a band saw. I thought about it later and you could try a rectangle and cut it trying for the high corners. I try it one day after I get what you've done down without losing an arm. Lol. Keep on with the videos gives us rookies ideas and we get to learn your skills sooner
Ken Moon... you’re crazy! I like that!
hahahahahaha, that's what the voices keep telling me. lol.
Ken
One number..super..
Thank you, this was one of my favorite turns.
Ken
Well done kid! No shortage of courage there! What size was the block to start with?
If I remember right it was around 15"
Great job on this one. I think you had way too much fun with this one. It's like you got a major rush with the 600 rpms. You silly man. LOL Keep up the fun and great work.
Doing new things always makes me giddy. lol
Ken
That came out very nice.
Thank you.
Ken
Really cool man , good job
Thank you very much.
Ken
That is wild I love it.
Thanks Mom.
Ken
3:18 the laugh of pure fear and excitement
Colin Tickner I love trying new things. Lol. I get giddy.
Ken
Yep, you's crazeee alright! good one Ken, that's such a cool piece! :D
I keep telling myself not to listen to you guys. lol
Ken
Oh yeah, never listen to me mate, I'm maaaaaaaaaaaaaaad! ;)
That's a pretty impressive bowl, good job!
Oh and by the way, Look at you Mr. drum sander! Glad you could take some time off from driving your yacht to make a video for us poor folks!!
oh snap, I almost peed a little when I read this. Look I saved up a while to get that, my table saw, lathe and planner. BTW I am taking donations to cover my mortgage. ;)
Ken
Very cool!
Thanks Steve.
Ken
Sorry this cool wing bowl is sold. I just bought it. Can't wait to get it.

Thank you sir. I appreciate that.
Ken
You made it to the end
Hahahaha, this was super fun to turn.
Ken
I just found your channel trough your comment on another video. When i came on your channel i saw this video. Tis is just awsome how you made this. I watched every second of your video because i liked it so much! I'm a new fan and the bell is on for notifications!
Well welcome. I appreciate the nice words. I checked out your channel. Seems like a good one. I subbed and look forward to watching your videos.
Ken
@@MoonpieCreations thank you so much my friend. I'm doing my best to bring something interesting and entertaining for my viewers
Very nice bowl!!!
For future reference, RPM is already plural. What you put in your captions is “Revolutions Per Minutes.”
Thank you. I noticed that after upload, but I felt I could live with it.
Ken
Moonpie Creations Groovy! I didn’t mean to come off as grammar police. Sorry if I did.
No sir, I didn't take it that way.
Ken
What, if you don't mind saying, is that you are using to clean your sandpaper with?
That is a sand paper abrasive cleaner. It's a giant eraser. You can find it on Amazon here amzn.to/32S0BJ2
Ken
Ciao Ken adesso sono più convinto, la pazzia di un artista si trasforma in genialità . Complimenti un italiano Roberto. Non sarà facile riprodurlo ma ci proverò.
Roberto thank you so much for the kind words. If you do try this, be careful of your knuckles. It hurts if they catch on the rim.
Ken
Although it pains me to say it, I bow to you, oh great moonpie.
hahahaha, thanks Rob, I'll see you in March at the Woodworking Show.
Ken
Hi Ken.. Here's a laugh, Just as the cube started to turn @ 3:20
The Police & Fire Brigade passed my open window with their sirens screaming... Perfect timing B-)
Now back to the video.
Bahahahahahaha, I planned that.
Ken
@@MoonpieCreations You're a madman... Keep it up brother B-)
I like the jig you have made for thr tablesaw.
Thank you Tara.
Ken
what kind of saw was that you used to part it off again? :P
Hahahah, Flush Cut....Thanks for watching and commenting.
Ken
Who give's this a thumbs down? SMH!
Thank you. This was a super fun turn.
Ken
That’s some “pucker” factor in the beginning of turning. Lol
I can honestly say I was nervous, but I just needed to go slow and keep my fingers away. Thanks for watching.
Ken
Beautiful work but (dangerous). Cheers
To tell the truth it looks a lot more dangerous that it actually was. That's why I kept the tail stock up most of the time. The key is to go slow. lol Thanks for watching.
Ken
@@MoonpieCreations yes I know God bless you
You: I'm gonna mount this tip to tip...
Me: no you are freaking NOT!
You: proceeds to utterly horrify me by actually doing so
Hahahaha, it looks more dangerous than it is. It was pretty secure. Thanks for watching.
Ken
13:34 Try not to be scared. large wooden blocks can sense fear.
Hahahahahaha, #truth. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Ken
Did you sell this wing bowl yet?
Grace Hunter no ma’am. I just put it up on my website tho.
@@MoonpieCreations How much is it? With out shipping?
By the way, there is no such thing as 500 RPMs, it is 500 RPM Revolutions Per Minute!
Bawdsey64 Boom!! Knowledge bomb from Bawdsey64. Well I guess I’m going to say that was a typo. I glad you pointed out.
Ken
Couldn’t you have made two bowls?
Maybe, if I have a coring device.
After watching several of your videos, all I can say is you scare me. Your attitude about high lathe speeds sets a very bad example for your viewers. There is a time and place for speed. I too have turned several of the 3 winged bowls and prefer to shape a tenon early on and move the piece to a chuck quickly.
I pray that your injuries in the future will not be life altering. Be safe for your loved ones.
First off, thank you for watching my video, then being concerned for my safety and the safety of my viewers. I am also sorry if my turning scares you. Before you judge me, I ask that you watch one more video czcams.com/video/5V0H-m-bKeU/video.html. I explain my feelings on safety and people thinking I'm crazy for turning such large items. I set my speeds in accordance with a long help formula that gives a turner the low and high side speeds. Maybe the fact that I speed up my footage gives you the impression that it's to fast, but trust me I take all safety steps available. I may be guilty of dramatizing parts of my video, but unsafe? Not in my shop, although I am a fan of pushing my skill set to the point of doing something different. I hope you continue to watch and if I do something you feel is wrong please comment. I also hope you comment if you ever like anything I do.
