Bill Haney expressed regret at his previous statement that he was sending his son to "kill" Ryan Garcia. Bill explains that the comment was made during promotional activities for the fight, and in hindsight, he recognizes it as going over the edge. Concerning the fight, he criticized Garcia’s failure to make weight and the resulting penalty of $1.5 million but acknowledged their decision to proceed with the match despite this. @@DaRealNaga When I was competing in Golden Gloves in Georgia back in 2008 the fight before mine featured a 172lb division (weight is a bit different in amateurs). A real muscular guy was able to squeeze down to that weight but collapsed during his fight. I called the next day to check on him and learned he passed away that night. Those few pounds do make a difference.
