I mean, illegal bars and similar establishments were called "speakeasies" because the operators needed a way to verify someone wasn't a party-pooper before letting them in. Besides, before central air and heating were widespread, opening your door just to talk to someone would let in inclement heat or cold.
I love Robin as a narrator, really. Just, sometimes, it feels like he thinks the world is only as old as he is. Then again, he seems a lot less curious-natured than Jack or Lexi, and he does make a point about not getting hung up on non-affecting things.

Having your house buried helps A LOT. My grandmother’s house was similar to this and while she had an air conditioner and heating, it was almost never turned on and like 68 degrees year round in the northern Midwest.
And to expand on “ground is good insulation”, there are some companies that have warehouses in caves in Missouri and Tennessee (probably other places too) because they’re naturally temperature controlled. When I was a OTR truck driver I’ve had to go to Missouri’s quite a few times and it’s kind of surreal to drive a truck through a cave system.

Yep those existed, but they went out of use due to the safety match. Old western style matches could be ignited on any rough surface like boots. Or denim so people regularly set their pants on fire. This led to the invention of the safety match which needs the strip on the matchbox side.

Yup. I work in an injection molding plant. Each part made comes from a cavity in the mold. So, they have cavity numbers. If I find flash (excess material) or a short (missing material), I can tell my supervisor I found it on cavity 8 or something. Saves us the trouble of having to figure out which mold section it came from. They can adjust how much material is going into the cavity, or identify if the mold is broken/not seated properly and is allowing material to squeeze out the sides. And then our job goes from nonchalantly dumping handfuls parts into boxes, and goes to miserably sitting at a brightly lit table having to inspect each part individually to figure out when the issue started, and if it'll continue after whatever fix that was done. Usually for the rest of the order over multiple shifts. I got to do that today. Oh joy.

They have to have a certain amount of pitch black time to control different stages of their growth. I used to grow indoor "medical" (i..e legal) marijuana.
You also wouldn't want the neighborhood to know there's a grow room in your building, making you a prime target for theft. I grew all my batches of plants in separate tents with reflective aluminum siding on the inside -- so you could barely tell the grow lights were turned on when you were inside the room.

Re: 52:25, I live in a split level house and my first floor is half underground (about four feet), the eye level windows on the first floor are at ground level outside. Being partly underground does actually help a lot with temperature control, as the first floor stays relatively cool in the summer (never goes over 79F even without any A/C during weeks with 85--95 temps), and relatively warm in the winter (never goes below 58ish with the heat off even during months of -10--10 temps), while my second floor in the same situations would reach much more extreme temperatures

The hair cutting tool with the spirit level is called a creaclip and youre supposed to tip your head upside down and clip your hair into it then cut and you end up with face framing layers. I had one. The fringe one is smaller and less curved.

15:01 That's a fence post driver. You put the open end over the top of the fence post. Then using the handles on each side (we can only see one but there's one on the opposite side) lift it up and throw down forcefully. It acts as a hammer to knock the fencepost into the ground.

Once I saw how people doing this with manual chain crane.
But that wrench was only 52 mm sized, much smaller than this monster (it's like 300..400 mm I think).

ND stand for negligent discharge. There are 2 types of unintentional discharges with forearms, accidental, and negligent.
Accidental is usually caused by a malfunction, for example when i was on the rifle range the trigger disconnect on my M4 sheared off and caused the rifle to go cyclic (full auto) while in semi auto setting.
Negligent discharge is when someone's just a dumbass, and their life is about to get a lot more difficult because of it. If you have a negligent discharge in the military your about to have the worst time of your life.

This area was known as Doggerland and I wound recommend doing research on it as it is quite fascinating.

obviously the big wrench is functional. clearly its an iconic, large, impractical weapon for a fighting game character, and now that they've inherited it, they must honor the decades of wrench combat experience with countless battles to come.
