I'm back! I blame school, me getting sick (I've been sick for over a month and I just have a stuffy nose and cough but I never got a cough in so long anymore and I feel like I'm gonna die), and Pokemon X and AC:NL as the reason as to why I haven't posted in awhile. Tbh, this whole song is about Karkat’s internal self, his *real* self. All his fears, his insecurities, his regrets, all of his _deep, deep_ sadness that he NEVER dares show, because a lowblood or a mutant that shows weakness gets culled on Alternia. He can’t really even _afford_ to be himself, and as a Cancer myself I’d say all that anger is still real too, but it’s just _frustration_, not hate. He doesn’t… _hate_ anyone, I don’t think. He’s too… Limeblood/Cancer to really hate anyone. That’s why in this song he’s just… sad… and scared. This is kinda from the perspective of when Karkat just… _gave up_ on being a leader, because nothing he did ever really worked.

I'm starting to think a Knight of Blood would be doomed to fail in a troll session. Due to the segregation of blood colours a Knight would be challenged with getting everyone to work together. Karkat did a better job than most would because I'm guessing his mutation. His mutation makes him the most compassionate and least violent of the session. If he and Aradia had worked together from the start he may have succeeded. I believe that a Maid of Time and a Knight of Blood can make the best leadership team

I haven't seen anything of homestuck except some of these fan songs (because geez these are good), but I remember the line from Little Clown Troubling Clown "should I talk to karkat? You're annoying him anyway". From what I've gleaned, Gamzee was super chill and nice, then completely lost it due to a couple different problems and killed lots of people. Then over here I see that karkat is super regretful and, according to the comments, references Gamzee.
So Gamzee got screwed up and was under the impression that he bothered Karkat. And now Karkat is left with his self-hate and lots of dead friends and hindsight.

:33 < yeah, it is pretty sad but this song is talking about Gamzee Karkat AND Terezi. He does still have all those regrets with Gamzee, but he also feels that he failed Terezi. It's a pretty complicated story in all and if you actually got into it you would understand why. You can see the first 5 acts on the colabhq CZcams channel and a little bit of act 6 (there are 6 acts in total, act 6 currently in progress on MSPA) if you want to see it please at least get further than act 1, it gets better later.
If you just want to loiter in the fan songs that's ok too but if you actually read/watched Homestuck it would all make more sense.

Careful Planning You should read it- around about act 4-5 it starts the downfall that made me, I shit you not, get a therapist because I started getting depressed and realizing how empty most things and people are. Some of those deaths can fuck you up, if you like sad stuff DEFINITELY read it 8)

Every time he thinks he's succeeded, it's all taken away and he feels like he isn't good enough. He blames himself for all the bad things that happen, and all his friends either died, or killed one another.
Karky is my precious baby and I love him with all my heart, so Game Over crushed me, but I'm pretty sure he's OK now. :)

If anyone is weirded out by this song applying to you, don't be. Andrew Hussie purposely chose the traits the trolls exhibited so the audience could connect with them on a personal level. Looking back at this song, it didn't stick with me the way other PhemieC songs did because there are a few awkward phrases, but the thing that it's actually saying is probably the most emotionally potent. "I knew you first. I knew you best. I wish I stopped it way back when, when things were bad but they still made sense. When we were kids, when we were friends". It's about watching your friends drown. It's about knowing in hindsight that you pushed them away when they reached out for help. It's about how simple everything used to be and how it isn't anymore, and wishing things were different. It's about knowing someone deeply like no one else does.

I still come back to this song and it still hurts. I love every character but they were just kids..... I can't imagine the pain if they were real. homestuck is how I met my fiance from high school now but jesus. imagining it was real is hell. this is a very good song to portray this feeling.
nobody talks about how the "so if you've gotta beat somebody up dont make it her" is about karkat's view of gamzee and terezi's Kismesissitude. it wasnt healthy, everyone knew that. karkat always just wanted to protect terezi, even from his own moirail.
Then you remember how they were just kids dealing with the bullshit of the game and their race. This is heart breaking. the fandom's version of theses characters are poorly represent. Karkat isn't just an angry troll, he's caring. Same thing for the others.
The whole fandom is full of trannies and people that type in heart emojis. AH made Homestuck retarded on purpose to extract more money from those lobotomy victims. And it worked, you can see him making fun of his audience from act 6 onwards. And I don't even need to mention the epilouges. He was probably approched by a finance advisor that told him he could make more money by making shit retarded. And the best part is: even with him literally trolling his fans, his shit is still better than most stories.
So Imma just share my thought on who I think karkat happens to be singing about
spoilers for the later half of act 6
anyways the first part is karkat singing about gamzee and their failed moirailship. Karkat tried his best to pacify him but no shushing or papping could truly soothe gamzee's violent rage and murderous tendencies brought out by him going sober. Karkat isn't willing to pacify gamzee anymore because gamzee brutally beat up terezi right in front of him and physically and possibly emotionally abused her on the meteor for 3 years prior.And yes I mean abuse because it wasn't a healthy kismesiship. The "if you're gonna beat somebody up don't make it her" part refers to how he thinks that terezi isn't the one who did something wrong, it was him, and she doesn't deserve to be hurt, this doesn't have to be shippy. The song also described how karkat and gamzee interacted pre-soberness, and how gamzee was just a weird but chill kid who prayed to his mirthful messiahs and was nice to karkat. But karkat would run his big mean mouth and demean and insult him just like he did everybody else.
The second half refers to terezi. The more obvious allusions like nooses,ropes,making her see, and her being blinding aside, there's more subtle evidence. It details how karkat didn't notice her downwards spiral into depression and self hatred until it was way too late, "I didn't guess that you were slipping til you tripped right off the edge." This depression was caused by killing vriska, her best friend, and being in an abusive relationship with gamzee. And karkat didn't notice her suffering and was too busy trying to one-sidedly compete with dave to *share* terezi, something terezi really didn't need at the time. He wasn't actually there for terezi and he never really realizes how bad it's gotten until she talks to him about it and it's made apparent how much this girl hates herself. And, as with everyone, all he ever did around her was run his big mean mouth and make things worse.
So tl:dr karkats got the frownies because of how he regrets not being able to properly pacify and support two of his closest friends and now they've both fallen way he fuck off the deep end

I can relate to this a lot, not because he's my Zodiac Troll, but because he represents my feelings often.
You see, Karkat is an angry dude, always yelling, but we all know why. So he can hide his emotions deep inside him, so he won't cry because of his blood color. He represents Cancer, the most emotional sign in the Zodiac. His anger is similar to mine, except I try to hide it most of the time, just so I won't hurt others. He often acts like he doesn't care, when he is actually the one that cares the most. Same with me. My constant "not caring" attitude makes people go away. Like Terezi. Karkat gives her mixed signals and she thinks that he doesn't feel anything for her, so she starts hanging out with Dave, when in reality, he really does care for her, as proved in "GAME OVER" when he snaps and tries to kill Gamzee. Also, his desire to be a leader is just like mine. I LOVE to be the leader. But you see, in my point of view, I think Karkat is scared that others will mess things up, so he tries to lead everyone the best he can, but he fails. Most of them don't want to listen to him and they don't realize that behind his shouting is an overemotional guy.
Also, if you're wondering who's he singing about, the first part is about Gamzee "No "shh" can suit your beast" (I have a situation similar to Karkat's, a friend with a HUGE rage) and "Bright red and high with death and pie and rage that never dies." Pie-Gamzee. Bright red, the color of his blood.
The second part is about Terezi: "Her big wicked grin disappears in the smoke and crack goes the rope pulled true. I know enough about doubt, and hating myself to tell that you know now it too." Terezi has a huge grin, always licking stuff, but that grin disappears after her relationship with Gamzee, her self-hate for ruining herself because of him.. And when she met her ancestor? She felt like she was not good enough.
So yeah...
I'm not bragging or anything, I just wanted to point that out. I'm not saying Karkat is the BEST, I personally like Vriska the best, but Karkat represents me in many ways.

I really don't get why people don't focus on the Equius/Nepeta part of Karkat's guilt. Like really, he sent Equius directly to his death (or at least that's how Karkat perceives it) and basically allowed Gamzee to kill Nepeta, who, despite shipping or lack there of, he in canon, cares about enough to make sure she's happy, so really, I think that's where the real sadness lies.

this reminds me of my friend. He pushed away the other kids at my school, so they thought he was a bully. I was his only friend. my class mates would be mean to him for being a "bully." He told his mom, and she took him out of our school. I really miss him. I tried to make him stay, because he already told me he considered leaving. I failed, and I know it's not my fault, but I feel guilty anyways. I can't be there for him anymore. He just stopped coming one day. I can't contact him in any way. I didn't even get to say goodbye. He's doing much better now. we were only in school together again for one year, and I still don't really have a proper way to contact him, as we never really found a way to reconnect. But, we were able to talk and he's doing much better now and is a lot kinder to those around him. So, the story does have a happy ending! :)

Something I've noticed recently is that the backgrounds of these songs represent their blood color, Karkat's is grey yet the words are red, which might represent that he might hide his blood color by appearance, but his words reveal everything about his sorrow and differences he feels bad about. :(

my beliefs on who the song is to.
At first, as we can all agree, he starts with singing to gamzee . then, he starts to sing to terezi. now is when it gets confusing. most people believe the bridge is either at Terezi or Gamzee, but i believe something different.
perhaps, he’s singing to sollux?
especially the line “i took the helm”,,, for obvious reasons.
he and sollux used to be best friends, and it would make sense with “i knew you first, i knew you best”

Skar kitty lol that’s awesome and I totally respect your opinion but in all honesty I ship davekat more than anything lol. Their personalities compliment each other really well. I know you don’t like ship but I personally think the ships are still good even in the second homestuck. Tho nothing is better than the original homestuck story but even then davekat was an obvious and prominent ship. NO HATE!!! Just stating my opinion!!!

To be honest, Karkat is very very embodiment of most Cancers. We want to be good role models or leaders, but something _always_ has to go wrong or make everything worse. We're so emotional, and we can't even control our own anger / sadness. It's so tiring and frustrating having things not go your way, but its even worse for a Cancer. We also want to try to help others, but because we're so broken we can't do it right.
I can relate to this.I'm the leader of the Emo, Scene, Goth group at school. My friend started talking about suicide. She had been joking about it before this, so I yelled at her and pushed her away. And she killed herself. And I blamed myself, then I blamed everyone for letting her die. Then I started blaming her for not telling more people. I'm a horrible leader, I don't deserve to be the leader of the SCG anymore. I let my friend die.

It's okay. Its never anyone's fault when people die. Sure there are some things you could have done to prevent this, but in the end you just have to keep moving forward. If your friends are depending on you to lead them then you have to be the best leader you can. I'm so sorry for your loss.
